Good morning all and there’s a hard frost here in Essex. The first time I’ve been cold during the night and had to put another throw on the bed.

This morning I’m booked for a pedicure but not sure I’ll venture out.
I can’t imagine Dh and ds1 will have a footie match to watch.

RosesandLilac my Dh is just the same as yours. Some strange behaviour and really not himself but won’t go to the docs. Not sure what we can do! Frustrating, as you say!

Beautiful photos of the snow.

I have wood burner envy. We have one at our seaside cottage but only a gas one here which isn’t working. Must get it sorted but i think it needs to be taken out and perhaps have a real put installed. I love to see a real fire.

Take care everyone - no slip sliding away! 🎶.

A frosty white world again, but hopefully not for much longer, so I am not in a hurry to get going. DS, DDiL and DGS arrive for lunch but not much preparation needed, and it will be good to see them and catch up with life. I have ventured out as little as possible this last week and am suffering from cabin fever so company will be especially welcome.

Hope today is kind to everyone and that the various convalescents continue to improve.

Good morning all from a foggy frosty Black country.
Didn't go to the club last night, decided to stay home in the warm club membership can be renewed another time.
Tonight we are over to friends providing it doesn't snow it has been predicted.
Saturday's full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and stay safe out there ☀️.

Morning from a frosty S Hants, it was -4 when I got up, -2 now, beautiful pictures Ash and Grammaretto I have snow as well as wood burner envy.
Yesterday MrJ was gone for three hours on his volunteer drive, he uses my car as it’s higher, so I faffed indoors after a short walk. Groceries delivered and pub mates caught up with in the evening.
Today newspaper and son calling in to borrow a drill, there will be football to watch.
Safe journey brook I imagine very pretty scenery from the train.
I hope Blossoming is ok.

Good morning from a freezing and foggy Oxfordshire where it’s -5 at the moment. I made some marmalade yesterday, MrOops had said to me that he hadn’t had marmalade for ages, I found a tin of oranges in the garage and had made some whilst he was out, he was so surprised. I don’t like it at all.
Another staying in day with a food delivery this afternoon and that’s it, the birds are all fed, but water is a problem as it freezes straight away.

Have a good day everyone, stay warm.

Georgesgran Sat 11-Jan-25 09:22:16

Good morning from Durham. A glorious start, icy blue sky, low sun, but off course, still below freezing. No snow here since last weekend - I think we’re fortunate.

A day to myself, although DD2 is coming tomorrow, so I’ll have to venture out for edibles for her and DGS2.

I have the blackbird problem too - why use all the energy to chase off a rival when there’s plenty of food to go round. Birdbrains!

Best wishes to all. X

Grammaretto Sat 11-Jan-25 09:28:41

I have holiday in Spain envy brook
Have a wonderful time relaxing.
The snow is hard work isn't it.

Marydoll I wanted the salon treatment to lift my spirits and so it did.

Roses could you go together to the doctor? Presumably DH behaviour is impacting on you and your health.
You may just need reassurance but you/he might be offered some tests.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we've not long been awake. No snow this morning and the sun is shining - a nice start to Saturday! We’ve been invited to a club house to celebrate a friend’s 80th birthday this evening. It will be good to see many of our old neighbours and friends there and I’m looking forward to going. I shall raise a glass but will decide when I get there whether I’m taking a night off from Dry January or not. 🤷‍♀️

Good morning from the NE where we have another hard frost.
Had a lovely lunch out with my friend yesterday in a cosy old Inn. We decided to push the boat out and had a bottle of Champagne with our meal.
Today DS, DIL and GD2 are visiting so will need to get in the kitchen and think about food, they haven't had a meal here since last month.
Stay safe and warm.

Coldest morning here in Norwich! Very foggy and very hard frost, but sun making valiant effort to get through. Toasty here in our bungalow , I love central heating. We Do not belong to the “open all the the windows and let fresh (freezing) air in brigade” what’s the point in heating house and then let it all out! But it’s your choice! I know it’s expensive this time of the year, but look after yourself and keep as warm as possible.

Good morning Mick and all from -1C northwest coast.
Painted a seascape yesterday at art group. The rest did quilling, which I didn’t fancy, although the results are good. It’s an easy going group, so it’s fine to do our own thing.

Took a big bag to the charity shop, including old Christmas decs and some surplus, but bought a pack of unusual fold up Christmas cards I saw there and which I don’t need as I make my own🙄

Flying DD flew out of California and saw the fires raging below, very eerie she said. She has booked the family holiday in Corfu in May, so something to look forward to.
Sorry you are concerned about your DH Roses and beautiful photos today.

I’m got mixed up with two crafty grans yesterday, so apologies to Karma for the fab socks.

Good morning all. -5 in Glasgow this morning. So far we have missed any snow so I was confused by todays forecast - snow will stop in 30mins.? It isn’t snowing but we do have a hard frost🤷‍♀️

Not much success with the OTC sleeping tablets, oh dear. I like the idea of a sloe gin at bedtime Greyduster, a better option than even more drugs in my system, unfortunately I don’t have any, I do have amaretto so will give it a try.
The thought of you walking anywhere with two sticks in icy conditions Grammaretto, after hip replacement surgery. FGS be careful.
I am a huge fan of Maria Callas BlueSaphire, not so of Angelina Jolie. She is the last person I would have thought to portray MC. I may be proved wrong though.

Have a good weekend all.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s nice and sunny but cold.
I’m putting the heating on later this morning like I did yesterday as having had it on all day for the days before I found on Thursday evening I was started to feel heat stuffy which I find uncomfortable.

I had a message from my daughter to say she had found my favourite scarf (I hadn’t realised I’d lost it ) frozen on her front lawn.

I’ve done a quick wash and hope to put some of it on the washing line and the rest can be tumbled. Some ironing also need doing so I think I’ll have a general tidy up today.

Keep safe and warm all 🧣🧤🧦

TheWeirdoAgain59 Sat 11-Jan-25 10:54:07

Good morning everyone!

It's cold-enough-to-freeze-the-dots-off-a-domino minus something here in Appleby and it's gorgeous, I love it! All the glittering white frost and freezing cold!

I snuggled in bed last night with a big fat duvet and 2 hot water bottles that I refilled 3 other times in the night!

I've got a day off work so am sat here on the settee with my favourite leggin's, Minion socks, long jumper down to my knees with the Flintstones on it, wrapped in 2 fake fur throws and a multicoloured blanket scarf reading The Bigfoot Book-The Encyclopedia of Sasquatch, Yeti and Cryptid Primates by Nick Redfern, scoffing Mars bars and guzzling Delaney's Irish Cream Liqueur!

Ziplok Sat 11-Jan-25 10:57:00

Good morning,

Bitterly cold again, with a keen frost, but the sky is a beautiful shade of blue and the sun is out. Phone says it’s -4 degrees outside. I’m just about to have a warming cup of coffee having finished a bit of ironing (the last of the Xmas table cloths, now safely stored away for another year).

No plans to venture far as yet as it’s so cold, but never say never.

Keep safe and warm folks.

aggie Sat 11-Jan-25 11:06:37

Good morning from a dull damp Co Armagh
We’ve had rain in the night ! I hope the thaw continues
Washing dried on the clothes horse last night , guess I’d better get it sorted and put away
I might venture to the greenhouse later , I don’t think anything will have survived, so a tidy up is needed
Thinking of the poorly 🕯️

A late good morning from a very frosty Black Country.

One of MrJ's DD is staying here, and she has just gone out for a run along the canal!

Just gone online to get car insurance quotes, as car insurance expires 6th Feb. Still waiting for renewal from current provider.

Finish packing today, then off to a Hotel by the Airport this evening via train and bus, as we have an early flight to Gran Canaria in the morning. Hopefully will be a tad warmer there.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Stay safe and warm.

Taichinan Sat 11-Jan-25 12:09:49

Just a quick hello today. I'm going through a non-sleeping 'phase' (I blame that beautiful waxing 🌙) and didn't have any meaningful sleep until 7.30 this morning. Grrrrr! Half the day wasted
No news from LA. My family's fire was one of the smaller ones and they are hoping to be allowed back to their home on Sunday 🤞
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning Mick and all Gn,s from a very cold and still north yorkshire. Not been out yet but opened the curtains to look out and the cold air was coming IN from the outside so hastily shut curtains again and am having a peek out every so often.
Roseandlilac , could I suggest you try and take discreet photos of him when he is behaving strangely. If you can collect a few examples of his behaviour then that is more concrete for you to show to a doctor instead of trying to explain. Also there can be no slant on what you are saying as the picture shows exactly what is happening. I know it may feel a bit sneaky or disloyal to be doing this, but you are doing it from love and concern, and to have a record of the situation as it is now will also be useful if things get worse. It may also give some insight to what is causing it. I hope you are able to get some help soon.
I am getting ready to venture out as need one or two things and the Yorkshire Post which is my luxury these days as it is now I think £3.50!! However I do read it from cover to cover, do the suduko puzzles, find out what is happening localy and a bit further afield, . It is a good paper always informative but the bit I always wonder at is the fashion bits. To me these come from another planet or definitely not from someone who looks to see the sort of careful with money people we ar e who like a bargain. I look and wonder at who the heck is looking at a dress for £240!! Well it aint me sister nor anyone I know. So I need to get cracking with jobs etc as I am going to a new venture today.
It is a Teeside Poetry Group, and I have never been to the venue, or met any of the other people. sSince I moved here I dont know anyone else who is involved in writing etc, as where I used to live , I had a couple of friends and we used to get together informally, talk about books and poetry we liked and read some of our works to each other and had ideas , and I have missed that. fFor me my poetry and writing gives a lot of private information to the listener and so I have some things that i would not share and other things that it would be good to talk about.I love Carol Ann Duffy as a modern poet , she has a wit about her and wrote a great book on the wives of the famous men, so a great poem about Sisyphus where she is going on about him shoving the rock up the hill all the time . Anyway feel a little anxious,as it is all new, and I dont even know where I am going. tTime I made an effort to get out of my comfort zone.So needd to get the bed made and the bits done and am going to have something simple and warming ready to come home to. If it all goes well it will be quite exciting to have found a new group. if is is a disaster I shall need some comfort food to cheer me up. Hope you all have a good day and take care if you are out on the slippy roads

Marydoll Sat 18-Jan-25 08:36:03

Madeleine, you are a week late!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 18-Jan-25 08:42:38

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 2°C rising to 3°C later. Brr! It’s dry and not windy though so that’s a bonus. We have no plans until teatime when we will go over to babysit while the parents plan an evening here in Urmston enjoying drinks in a bar then a hot curry. Good for them spending time together.
