Good morning Mick and all who follow from the chamberpot champion ☕️ where I’m just catching up on yesterday’s episode! You are a busy lot!

£70 to change a watch battery….🤬 I didn’t pay that for my citizen eco watch 10 years ago! Not that I wear a ⌚️ very often now that I’m retired - airport runs only nowadays, when time is of the essence!

After last week’s inclement conditions my brunch jolly to our factory outlet has been rescheduled for today so a delightful (and delicious 😋) day where we’ll put the world to rights yet again!

I hope you all have as pleasing a day as possible x

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
Yesterday’s new priest licensing and subsequent “bring and share” lunch went well. We had enough food without having mountains of leftovers. As usual, only a few people helped. No one followed instructions. Asked to put dirty dishes on a trolley, they would come into the cramped kitchen…. But it seems that all had a good time!
Today is going to be a bit full on. I have a new mattress delivered this afternoon; not normally a problem but I was going to put it on the spare bed. Problem is that my cousin is coming for the night on Saturday. Again not normally a problem, but I’m having a cataract operation tomorrow and am not supposed to Ben over for a fortnight, not lift anything heavy for a month….
So I shall do lots today, including going to Tesco for my shop, etc.
I shan’t post tomorrow as my operation is at 0730!
May this week bring relief to all in need. Stay safe. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and damp. Strangely enough I feel colder this morning than when it was in minus figures!
Yesterday I had a lovely time in Edinburgh at The Nutcracker. It was a very rich production which finished with fireworks. There were lots of little girls all dressed up to the nines in the audience too and they were very well behaved. A fish supper once home finished off a lovely day. My hip coped with all the steps and hills, although my legs need more exercise, that was clear.
It could have been a disaster though. My friend left a bag at the station in Polmont with his hat and the ballet tickets inside! Fortunately the staff at the theatre sorted it out, otherwise it would have been a journey for nothing.
Today is early childcare day. I'll make a pot of lentil soup when I drop off the boys. I'm not sure what I'll do later. Pottering probably. Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Jan-25 06:01:15

I hope the cataract operation goes well tomorrow*GrandMattie*.

Good morning from a cold start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Today I’m off to the local seamstress to get my new Christmas trousers altered into having an elastic waistband.

Due to the stroke i had 4 yrs ago I am unable to pull a zip up and put a button in. I’ll be having yogurt and pineapple with toast for breakfast today and my homemade lentil soup for for lunch

Have a safe day my friends enjoy every moment 💐💐

Good morning from s somerset, it may be bright and dry today

For tomorrow GM flowers with best wishes

I was very busy all of yesterday morning and again it was very cold outside while I was working, pruning, weeding etc. I came back into the house after 12 with frozen fingers and toes. I did not thaw quickly so I lit the stove, it only had one fill and stayed warm until bedtime and the room is still warm now

I need a walk this morning and then must clean the stove and re-set it for next lighting. The hat will be finished today, ready for gifting on saturday

The smock toile (test) will be whizzed together later, I cut it in fabric that I don`t like. I burn tested that thin denim look-alike once, over the sink but the flame curled back and the fabric melted dropping a tar-like blob onto a finger. Horrible dangerous fabric. I have ordered eco heavy pure cotton twill for the actual gardening smocks

Have a good day

Good morning from a mild, calm Cornwall. Such a lovely day yesterday, first of all with my two strapping sons at my grandson's football match. Can't remember when I last had them both to myself. Very precious. Then my youngest son and I had breakfast in Wetherspoons, after which he went off to do an Amazon delivery and I hopped on the first bus that came along. Ended up in Porthleven, walked by the harbour and then bussed home.

Today I have my first shift as a volunteer in A&E at our main hospital and am excited about that. After such a long time on crutches when I was waiting for my knee replacement it finally feels like life is getting back to normal, yippee.

Good morning everyone from a very frosty and still dark Northampton, a dry day forecast, perhaps a bit milder later.

Up early as it's yoga this morning, our first class of 2025. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Coffee afterwards at the little cafe round the corner. Then back home for a light lunch, then a bit of light housework and a quiet afternoon reading.

A quiet day at home yesterday too. I made a batch of individual Yorkshire puddings, which (minus one) are now in the freezer. I will need to bag them up now they are frozen. Once I'd cleaned and tidied the kitchen I settled down to an afternoon of tv, catching up on recorded programmes, including North Shore, the series set in Australia, which I am really enjoying.

All the best to grandMattie for her cataract op tomorrow; hope all goes well.

monk08 Mon 13-Jan-25 06:47:32

Good morning all from the Black country curtains still closed but I think its dry.
Today I have an all day appointment at the eye hospital, they are running various tests regarding glaucoma. I shall take a book to pass the time although if drops are going in my eyes I may be unable to read.
Wishing you all the best for your operation tomorrow grandMattie 💐
Mizuna it sounded like you had a lovely day yesterday, hope all goes well on your first shift as a volunteer.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire- the temperature is 3° though feels colder.

It's what we call 'a crack of dawn' morning. Although we always wake around 5.45, we take our time drinking tea, watching the news and chatting. Today I have gp appointment at 9.10 so have to leave home around 8.30. A shock to the system.

This afternoon we start our next Carer Learning session. I hope I am still awake.

Good morning from Malta where it’s a chilly 13°C and expected to rain.

Today DD1 turns 43 and I can remember it so clearly (19 hours of labour😫) and yet I can’t remember what I did last week. I never imagined we’d be living so far apart, I miss her so much but am proud of her for following her dreams.

I’ve been up since 4am watching tennis. Have my nails later then a nap I expect.

grandMattie wishing you all the best for your cataract operation. Please take care and don’t be doing too much whilst you recuperate.💐

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

RosesandLilac Mon 13-Jan-25 06:56:41

Good morning from frosty south Glos, a chilly start to the week here.
Yesterday I spent nearly the whole day in my little craft room, very productive day. I sorted out my fabric stash colour-wise, put into clear bags so I can see exactly what’s in each without tipping it out. There’s a bagful of stuff I won’t use for recycling and the drawers have been tidied too so I actually know what I have!
Very satisfying couple of hours spent while listening to podcasts.
I also did more slow stitching, it’s great for mindfulness and time goes quickly when I’m doing it.
We enjoyed a roast lamb dinner, I slow cooked a small joint and it was delicious.
Today after the dog walk I have ironing to do then more crafting I think.
Good luck for your cataract surgery tomorrow grandMattie 🤗
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Greyduster Mon 13-Jan-25 06:57:40

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very chilly South Yorkshire. 1 degree - “feels like minus 5”. Can’t argue with that. It’s supposed to warm up later. I can’t see it myself. A quiet day yesterday. Did some laundry, flapped around with a duster and then settled in with a good book. A nice surprise, then, when GS rang and said “we’re coming over and we’ll pick up fish and chips in the village.” Very nice they were too but the company more so!
The chiropodist is due this morning and then if the temperatures pick up, I might go over to the garden centre this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Whiff Mon 13-Jan-25 07:05:58

Thank you all for the welcome to this thread. Unfortunately I then disappeared but have good excuse been in hospital since Monday last week and still here . But enjoy reading every day.
No idea what the weather is here but it's hot in my room .

Your posts have kept me going all week . So thank you for that 😊

Grammaretto Mon 13-Jan-25 07:18:30

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's 9°C but treacherous as the ice is melting slowly.
Oh do take it easy gMattie . Ask for help!

Mizuna how heroic you are to volunteer at A&E but what a good idea.

So glad you had a grand day out Grandmabatty
I am to read a poem at U3A this afternoon History group. I will get a lift up the road.
I must start to tackle my "paperwork" today.

DS called yesterday . He'd made soup for me but alas had spilled half of it in his car when he braked suddenly
😔 He had taken his DS out for a driving lesson . I am glad I wasn't there!

Hope everyone has the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 13-Jan-25 07:19:46

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Sorry to hear that Whiff! Hope all goes well tomorrow GM.

Our cleaner is due this morning. I will do the Waitrose shop. After lunch I will pop over the road for a monthly craft afternoon.

OH obtained a free fridge yesterday on Freecycle. He intends to convert it into a warming cabinet for his honey.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, but looks cloudy. The garden thermometer says it’s +2 this morning, a lot milder this morning than yesterday, but yesterday was so pretty with all the shrubs etc white with frost.
Changed the bedclothes yesterday without any help, washed and dried them, I may iron them today, if I can plug the iron in! DSiL called in for coffee in the morning, in between dropping the 9 year old at a party and collecting her again. DD1 and the 6 year old weren’t feeling well so stayed at home. DD2 and her family called in on their way home from a shopping trip.
grandmattie I hope your cataract operation goes well tomorrow.
whiff I hope you’ll soon be home again after your hospital stay.
Today is forecast to be dry and milder, so I hope to get out for a walk.my hip is feeling more comfortable so I hope to walk more regularly and gradually increase the distance - I can do about 150 yards at the moment, but there’s nothing useful (like a shop) within that distance.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Sar53 Mon 13-Jan-25 07:44:07

Good morning from the Essex coast. No frost today but still cold.
I hope all goes well for you tomorrow GM and I hope you are home soon Whiff.
Admin and housework this morning and my book this afternoon.
Have a good week everyone, keep warm and safe xx

brook2704 Mon 13-Jan-25 07:48:07

Good morning everyone from Estepona is Spain, we arrived safely early yesterday afternoon after a very early start but a trouble free journey, everything was on time and went well
Hope the cataract op goes well gMattie
Good luck with your new volunteering Mizuna
Yesterday was lovely and warm about 19°, today it’s cooler but much better than at home. We’ve a little apartment right on the sea front and the view is gorgeous. We’ll be going out later wandering along the promenade and taking it easy, we’ll stop when we’re ready for coffee and sit and watch the world go by.
Hope you’re doing ok now whiff
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

madeleine45 Mon 13-Jan-25 07:52:20

Good Morning Mike and all GN's
Still very dark outside so cant see what the weather is really. Hope things go well for you grandMattie. Do take it steady when you come home. I used to take a lot of people in for cataracts and had one or two people who had problems because they tried to do things too quickly after the operation. It is so frustrating , when you see something needs doing and there is no one about.
I am up dressed and ready as I have an early dr's appointment. My leg is not improving and sorry to say it looks like it is cellulitis again. Besides the actual swollen leg, everywhere is very itchy, which happened last time, and I did begin with excema when i became diabetic, but usually keep it in control, however when things like this happen then I start itching everywhere. Think the body says I have enough to deal with now.
I hope it is not as cold as yesterday -5. As i am going to doctors havent put on my thermal long johns under the trousers, so will notice the difference when I go out.
The flipping new toilet is still running all the time, couldnt get anyone out over the weekend but as soon as back from the gps I will be on the phone. It is driving me crazy and what a waste of water. Hope someone can come and sort things out today. I have to go and get fuel today and sort the car out ready for the funeral tomorrow. Round here that means making sure I have a spade, bag of grit, blanket, high viz jacket , food , drink and spare jumper etc etc in the boot as up the dale there is still a lot of snow and ice, and now if the temperature rises we will have flooding and probably icy corners on little roads. Well we are a hardy lot and will not be put off by a bit of weather. So hope you all have a decent day today . When I get back this morning, a bit more sorting outof books and papers etc is on the cards. Main plan for this afternoon is to get my diary and calendar and update everything and make sure I havent forgotten some important appointment. I should have had a specsavers appointment but with all that has been going on have had to put it off, so today I shall pop in and if they can see me if I wait that will be good and if not I will book an appointment. Well if I get half of this stuff done today it will be a miracle! Time to go and hope for the best from the doctors!

Grammaretto Mon 13-Jan-25 08:02:13

brook that sounds like heaven 😍
Photos please!

Madeleine I hope you get attention for your leg soon. Fingers 🤞
