What small thing would help you right now FGT?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 14-Jan-25 20:03:08

Nothing in particular right now Oops but thanks for asking. 😁
I started the thread because I’d read an interesting article earlier from a psychologist who said asking this question of a friend is often a kindness because most people can think of something small that would help if life overwhelms them in some way. It just got me thinking.

A break from the boring monotony of housework, washing, ironing, shopping, cooking, clearing up seven days a week.

I know there are many things worse than monotony and I should count my blessings but I haven't been away for nine years so just a few days in Cornwall would be nice.

Thank you for starting this thread FGT.grin

To stop over analysis of everything. Worry less. Live life to the full. To have more yarn!🧶

Excellent idea for chat and nice to know what prompted it friedgreentomatoes2 right now, it would be to have a chance to daydream like I used to when I was young, it helped me to stop overthinking and drift off to sleep.

A robot vacuum cleaner maybe. I've got dust balls mulling about...

After thinking about it for months, we bought one yesterday. I love it already.

Left it cleaning kitchen floor yesterday evening and it's already done dining room this morning while I was having breakfast

An admin person, just for a day. I’ve got house insurance and the home services contract to check and barter down, decisions to make re keeping or disposing of Audible and Ancestry, and now I’ve had a pop up saying I need a Microsoft subscription. Do I? hmm Oh, and DH desperately needs a new phone. Back in the day I’d have sorted all of this before dinner time. Now I just don’t feel I can be bothered with any of it!

To meet some genuine new friends. I spend too much time on my own bored stiff and no motivation to do anything.

love0c Wed 15-Jan-25 08:41:11

FishandChips15 How mobile are you? Try local church for coffee mornings, keep fit class. yoga class. Even going swimming will give opportunity for new friends. I made a lovely new friend going swimming. We often meet for a walk and a coffee. Good luck!

Or try volunteering.

A fairy godmother who would find me clothes in colours that suit me and that actually fit.

keepingquiet Wed 15-Jan-25 08:47:28

A boot store or gadget to stop my son trailing in the mud on his gardening boots!

Guess I'll just have to get Henry to suck it up!

Or buy some boot covers?

Luckygirl3 Wed 15-Jan-25 08:48:25

To be free of pain - that is all.

keepingquiet Wed 15-Jan-25 08:48:36

I think this is a great thread btw and a great idea to practise too!

I’m not sure it’s a small thing but I would like to go to my brothers funeral. He died on 27th December.
He and my Sister in Law have opted for ‘Pure Cremation. Their choice and I respect that.
They say that funerals are for those left behind and I now see what they mean. I ‘m finding it difficult not having a particular day to feel he has been said goodbye to.
I probably haven’t explained that very well .

I do not understand the word "file," and if somebody taught me how it works, I would be less likely to have piles of papers lying around.

Why my cleaner stays is beyond me.
