Good morning all. 8deg. and we are back to cloudy, wet days in Glasgow. Two sunny days were lovely while they lasted. I bought some daffodils to brighten up the house with the promise of spring.

My newish vacuum is making a high pitched awful noise requiring a visit to a local domestic appliances shop. As amitriptyline was not agreeing with me, a new script of naproxen plus sleeping tablets are ready for collection today. Hoping the odd sleeping tablet helps return my body clock to sleeping through the night as opposed to on and off during the day. It’s also nice to clear my head of a constant brain fog.

I am still in the process of admin required for probate, currently attempting to make a list of my financial outgoings. My head hurts with never ending admin to deal with GM. I had no idea how much work was involved, especially at a time when I am attempting to adjust to widowhood.
A sad day for you Ash💐
Bonnybanko💐

Best wishes to all for a good day and a better one, with hugs, for all coping with worries and struggles.

Good morning. I can actually see some bits of duty path. That’s not happened for a while.
Always sad to attend a funeral Ash but I really wish I could attend one for my brother. He and my Sister in Law decided on a Pure Cremation and I am struggling with not having some sort of closure.
A free day for me until I pick up youngest DGS from pre school at 3 pm.
DH has just gone off to golf and I think I’ll make a coffee and walnut cake for my crafting friends on Sunday.

A good day wished for all with a smile along the way.

Good morning from another dry dull Suffolk day. As the days lengthen,we seem to wake up later. It’s not as though we do more during the day but am just glad we find sleep easy.

I hope to get into the garden later and prune the wisteria. I’m no gardener really but I understand that a prune at this time of year encourages flowers.

The snowdrops in the dell are very much in evidence which is such a positive sign of spring.

Hope today is a good one for everyone especially those worried or unwell.

Good morning Mick and all from 6°C northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday, a little decluttering and housework.
Off to art group soon.
Thoughts to Bonnybanko Ash and all.

Quick pastel sketch 🎨

Love your sketch Hollysteers

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

Ash and Bellasnannna.💐

I don't plan to do much today, yesterday was exhausting, but BabyD was such fun. She is a determined and willfull wee character, whose favourite word at the moment is NOOOOO!!
She has developed some anxiety, when she has to leave her mummy and has started behaving the same way with me. She was like my shadow all day. I couldn't even get to the loo alone!

It was a glorious, but cold day, so we went for a walk to the farm, with me lagging about half a mile behind DH. 😄
There is a B&M a few minutes down the road from the farm, so for the first time ever, I managed to walk there. I was so pleased with myself, until I realised that I had the return journey to do and it was all uphill!
We met a neighbour, out walking his dog and he commented on the fact that I was lagging behind. DH said that we had left the previous day, but I had met so many people en route, the walk had taken over a day! 😂
DH was not amused at my socialising, however I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

It was a bit of a rush to get BabyD back home, because I was going out and she was sobbing, when she realised that I was not going home with her. 😪
The Mass and presentation were lovely. The former PP came in, spotted me and gave me the biggest of hugs, (never a demonstrative man,) saying he had missed me so much. He became very emotional during his talk at the end, saying he now realised how fortunate he had been. We have five sacristans in our church and we were all there last night, the former PP has one, who has never been trained, so he has to do everything on his own.
There was a reception afterwards, but I only popped in for a moment. I was on my knees with tiredness.

My big and only adventure today is going to Morrisons. They have 20% off fish today and their fish department is as good as any fishmonger. I intend to make fish suppers, but there will be no curry sauce!
I had been keeping an eye on a velvet dress in the Seasalt sale, but when I went back to look, it was sold out. However, I was trawling about the Internet, when I spotted one on the Seasalt Ebay outlet. It came yesterday and is stunning, far better than the one I had been looking at. The label showed £150, I paid £30!
It was just a little long, so I plan to sit and alter it today, while watching my Turkish historical drama about the Ottoman Empire. It is fascinating.

Gramnaretto,💕
I have never forgotten the time you brought me flowers at a Glesca Grannies meet up, after I had been very unwell. You have nothing to apologise for, I certainly wasn't offended.

DD has just appeared, I need to get out of bed! She is at a loose end, now that she has lost her job of twenty years.

Roses, enjoy your weekend and best wishes to all.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp and looks chilly out. Alexa says it will be 8°C later … but does the weather know as my late mum used to say.

We are thinking we may walk over to the MacMillan Centre later and join the group there for the Friday coffee met up. Other than that we have no plans. Himself may go to watch the Boy Wonder at his ⚽️ training, see how the weather is at 5pm - as it’s outside under floodlights.

Good morning from a dry NE and less windy than last night.
My sister was discharged from hospital in Germany after a whole month of treatment. Support and care are way better than anything I have seen in this country. All sorts of aids were in place when she returned to her apartment.
Today is another quiet day with some light housework and food preparation for the weekend.
Have a good day.

Some hints of blue sky are appearing so hopefully today will be less grey than yesterday when I needed the lights on all day in order to be able to read. Oldies’ coffee morning to which I will take my neighbour with dementia, an exhausting business but she loves it and her daughter relishes a brief break so I feel it’s the least I can do. Later life is so hard in so many ways, and suffering from the January blues is not helping.

I wonder where Babydoll gets her determination from? When DD and GD1 fall out DD always complains to me that “she is so like you!” Nature’s way of getting my own back I reckon.

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Jan-25 09:18:51

Morning from a grey S Hants, 4 and chilly. We’re sleeping longer too Liberty although I’ve had two consecutive days of exercise classes.
Crown Prince are my favourites karmalady and a pleasure to grow, if rather sprawly like all squash.
Difficult day for you both Bonnybanko and Ash, you too Kalu it must be hard 🌹
I think a gentle walk this morning before Tesco delivery this afternoon, MrJ has two voluntary drives, we’ll be off to the pub tonight. I’ll wear my new Trespass fleece jacket, it’s very warm, reduced to £18 from £60 and a lovely dark red.

A late Good Morning from Durham. There was a lovely sunrise, with the underside of the clouds bathed in gold, while the moon was still quite high in the West.
Coffee this morning with a friend and I’ve a free afternoon!
I should do ‘something’ to please myself.

Have you popped into Arnison Anny although I’m unsure what you’re looking for - there’s both M&S and Next, where you browse the racks and collect online orders. Sainsbury’s has clothes, as does George at Asda.

Best wishes to all. X

Hollysteers your sketch is beautiful..
Managed to make a pot of tea this morning so could have my usual 3.5 mugs with my breakfast. Cold day here did have the sun but it's hiding again .
More purple bruising out today so a fetching colour of yellow and purple not such they go together. But at least I can move without says ouch.

Going to get my cross stitch out and see if I can hold the hoop with my left hand .

Hope you all have a good day . 😊

Good morning , another lovely bright day here in Co Armagh, I haven’t been out , it looks breezy
Lazy morning , I should be out and about , but can’t get motivated
I had some boxes of wildflowers seeds that I never got round to growing so I was feeding the blackbird , I meant it for the wee birds , but this bully gobbled it all , some left that I’ll keep for the next bitter spell
I can’t hang out peanuts of anything as there are lots of rats in the old farm
I’ve no plans
I’m off to shower. Have a good day

mamaa Fri 17-Jan-25 11:10:44

Morning all, Ekwa you mentioned amaryllis in your post and this brought back a very happy memory of my dear Mum.

One Christmas she was given an amaryllis plant and on opening it she was so shocked at its appearance, describing it as 'rude' she refused to have it 'on display' in the lounge- it was banished to the kitchen window.
Once it had flowered, (bright red blooms I recall) she quite liked it, but it remained forever in the kitchen! smile.

Still going through paperwork but heading out this afternoon to meet a lady from my book group for coffee. Sausages for dinner tonight, might have them with chips, not sure. When I get home, if I'm finished the paperwork sorting for the day, will probably read.

karmalady Fri 17-Jan-25 11:29:24

Thanks for that Jaxjacky, they weren`t on my list. They are now and I will get some seeds

EkwaNimitee Fri 17-Jan-25 11:36:03

Very late to the party today as MzOops has commandeered my time.

Will have to read through later, the sun has just come out here and MzOops friend and baby have just driven up the driveway.

Hope all are ok.

How nice to see a line full of snowy nappies. Takes me back!

How nice to see a line full of snowy nappies. Takes me back!

I thought the same!

Jennynanna Fri 17-Jan-25 22:38:58

I made the decision to start using terry nappies again when my grandson came to live with us a few weeks ago
