Good morning on another freezing cold morning in La Sarthe!

I’m pleased to hear your laser eye surgery went well and hope your eyes aren’t too sore today, Mick.

Thank you for the very kind comments regarding my friend’s funeral on Friday. After we had lit a candle in this church (Notre Dame des Marais in La Ferté Bèrnard) we spent a quiet time in a silent side chapel which was ideal before visiting a nearby bar for a glass of rosé, a favourite tipple of the deceased.

A blessed Sunday to you all, especially those in pain or feeling sad. 🦩💐✝️💐🦩

Hello Mick and all who follow👋

Belated birthday greetings to Borrheid and anyone else with celebrations I may have missed 🥂 recently.

We’re still busy in reorganising mode at PG Towers and I feel positively evangelical about getting rid of stuff! I couldn’t live with minimalism but I can’t relax with too much clutter around and find myself bobbing up and down to put things away!

Lovely snowdrops Taichinan, not sure where mine are this year ☹️ ran off with my daffs probably!

Will trot out for my paper shortly and pop in later to see who’s up to mischief…😉

Bellasnana Sun 19-Jan-25 06:27:35

Good morning from Malta where we are promised a sunny day with a high of 18°C.

I’ve been up for a while watching tennis. I ought to be rooting for the British guy, Draper, but I’m a fan of Alcaraz so hoping he will win.

No plans today. Might go to Mass. Will FaceTime my friend in Leicester.

Sad news yesterday, one of DD3’s friends died aged 30 leaving behind a devastated husband and five year old son. She had been battling cancer, bless her.😞

Glad your surgery went well Mick.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

baubles Sun 19-Jan-25 06:30:01

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Damp but not actually raining just now.

Glad your eye surgery went well Mick.

I had another day of not feeling quite right yesterday but thankfully I’m better today.

Mass later this morning then straight into Glasgow to watch eldest Granddaughter play netball.

Have the best day possible everyone.

grandMattie Sun 19-Jan-25 06:30:11

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
I seem to have “overslept” this morning. I must have been tired.
My cousin spent the night here. I met her by chance in town recently but hadn’t seen her for about 40 years. Her mother, my father’s youngest sister, was very kind to me when I first arrived in England.
We went to a cello concert locally. We both had reservations on a work by Sally Beamish - very dissonant and screeching. I hadn’t expected that of “The protecting Veil”. Fortunately, the middle piece, Tchaikovsky’s serenade for strings, was lovely.
Today, I’m going to church then starting my new quilt. The fabric arrived yesterday, had been washed and ironed.
Have a blessed Sunday.
Carpe diem ❤️🦩🦩❤️

grandMattie Sun 19-Jan-25 06:31:07

bella, it’s so very sad about your DD’s friend. 💐

Sad news Bellasnana

Hope you have a peaceful Sunday 🙋‍♀️

Bellasnana far to young to die sorry for all family and friends.

When I was younger if someone reached the age of 100 it was in the newspapers and if they had been married 60 years . Now no bats an eye if someone reaches a 100 and 60+ years married . While oldies carry on living so many young die . I don't know if it's more nowadays or that news is now instant . No waiting for the newspaper ,radio or TV news .

Well another cold day here in the north west . And feel able to get in the shower today after my weeks rest . At least the pain from the inflammation the injection caused in my tummy is a groan not an ouch. Sorry to much information. 🤣..

Even joy your Sunday ..

RosesandLilac Sun 19-Jan-25 06:59:34

Good morning from the depths of Gloucestershire where it’s very dark and chilly and the lights of Stroud are in the distance.
Heartbreaking news Bellasnana, sodding cancer 🤬
A lovely day yesterday spent stitching and chatting about embroidery and everything else. A very refreshing and inspiring day, lots of laughter too.
Heading home later, back to normal tomorrow. I am coming back here for a journalling workshop in two weeks time, looking forward to it!
Have a lovely Sunday if you can 🌹

brook2704 Sun 19-Jan-25 07:27:46

Good morning everyone from Spain, it’s just getting light and another lovely day ahead
Such awful news Bellas my heart goes out to the young family
Much of the same here, walking and relaxing by the sea and a Sunday market to take a look at
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Sun 19-Jan-25 07:29:36

Good morning all from a chilly but dry North Leicestershire.

We watched Bertie play football yesterday and got lots of hugs. His team won 3-0 - Bertie scored 2!! He was a happy birthday boy.

Today, I am doing brunch for DH and DS1 before they go to the match and then a meal for DH when he gets home.
Between, I am hoping to complete a fired glass kit that I was given for my birthday. They seem to have forgotten that I have no crafting skill what so ever! Wish me luck.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Sar53 Sun 19-Jan-25 07:30:25

Good morning from a dark and cold Essex coast. We are up early as DH is being picked up at 8.15 to go to an away match for the boy's rugby.
I have someone coming at 10.00 to service our air conditioning unit, just getting prepared !!!!
Sorry to hear your very sad news Bellasnana.
I hope you all have a good day.
Keep warm everyone xx

luluaugust Sun 19-Jan-25 07:30:51

Good morning from a cold W Kent
Very sad news Bellasnana I can only agree with Roses. Glad the eyes are sorted Mick
Usual Sunday here, chat with DB and a good lunch followed by an afternoon of idleness I expect
Best wishes to all

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 19-Jan-25 07:30:55

Good morning from a very dark, but dry Oxfordshire, it was cold and damp all day yesterday, although when I asked her Alexa insisted that it was clear skied and sunny. Silly robot.

Baby and mother are due to leave today, then a tidy up MzOops is now staying until tomorrow for a brief visit to Bristol then she will be back here for a few days.

I’ll keep out of everyone’s way and read my book, whilst they pack up, when they have gone I’ll get the hoover out and sort out the kitchen where they’ve been cooking their food, it’s not that bad but if I do it I know I’ve cleaned the nooks and crannies of rice and lentils.

Pleased your op went well Mick take it easy for a bit?

Have a good day everyone, although the weather wasn’t good yesterday it didn’t get dark until 4.55. Which is a good sign.

Greyduster Sun 19-Jan-25 07:40:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but doesn’t feel quite as cold. No frost anyway. Good to hear your eye surgery went well Mick. Have a restful day.
DS called yesterday for a quick brunch before dashing off to his football match, and then came back for lasagne and salad before he went home. I spend the afternoon making a coffee and walnut cake for DD’s birthday. I was glad he was here because apart from putting my Christmas decorations in the loft for me - hurrah - the tv was playing up. None of the apps were opening up, so he fiddled about with it for while and got it working again. I said “what did you do?” He said “I haven’t the faintest idea!”
I’m having a quiet day today. Not in any hurry to rise, no company coming, so I will finish icing the cake, read, knit and have a walk later perhaps.
Have the best day you can folks.

Redcar Sun 19-Jan-25 07:41:56

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold (2 degrees), dry and seems very dark this morning. No doubt another cloudy day stuck under this high pressure area. Yesterday I went for a walk, dodging the children and their football practice and a man playing football with himself. I’m gradually increasing the distance I walk, aiming to get round the recreation ground this week, about half a mile including walking there and back.
I’ll do some ironing today and DD1 may call in later.
bellasnana such sad news regarding your DD’s friend.
roses pleased you’ve had an enjoyable weekend.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Sun 19-Jan-25 07:47:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It feels colder. I slept badly so will no doubt nap today.
Thanks for your good wishes for my recovery from hip surgery. It is going well but has made me far more aware of the difficulties people face who have disabilities, or are old!

It took ages to walk to the supermarket just across the road and I almost tripped over a dog's
extending lead. I dropped my stick and struggled to pick it up.

So sorry to hear your sad news Bellasnanna. Life can be so cruel.

Your holiday continues to sound perfect brook

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Bonnybanko Sun 19-Jan-25 07:57:17

Good morning all, actually not so good I’ve just had the deli belly and I’ve no idea how that happened I’ll need to be careful with what I’m eating today
I don’t know how the weather is outside as my ring doorbell is all fuzzy here on the east coast of Fife as I’m still in my cosy bed. I can only assume it’s frosty out there, it feels cold, however I’m going to church this morning I’ve a new carer coming today who’s came across from South Africa via Fife 🤣🤞 I’m sure she’ll be okay and very helpful, I’ll let you know tomorrow how things go, these period pants will need to go on today they’re very handy they can hold a pint of p and will be handy if I have an accident of sorts.

Have a good day my friends, Keep safe.

Bonnybanko Sun 19-Jan-25 07:58:47

Who’s come not who’s came duh 🥹🥹

ginny Sun 19-Jan-25 08:09:08

Good morning from N. Bucks where it is dry, chilly and a slight breeze.
I’m off to join my scrapbooking friends today. We always have fun and more chat than crafting.
DH will collect his Mother and she will have dinner this evening. Roast lamb my favourite.
Wishing all a good day. Special thoughts to those in pain or sorrow.

Susan56 Sun 19-Jan-25 08:18:32

Marydoll Sun 19-Jan-25 08:20:10

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 6°C.

Bella, what tragic news.

Karma, I have tried umpteen times to grow rhubarb over the last thirty years in this house. I had no problem in my previous garden. I will be following your progress.

Baubles, take care and I hope you are OK.

I hope you continue to make progress Grammaretto, I am amazed at your progress, but not in the least bit surprised!

I could have wept due to the pain yesterday. I had maxed out the painkillers, so resorted to a couple of glasses of wine last night! One is my limit! People kept asking at church, if I was alright. Every step was agony.

Today we are off to the Riverside Museum with Babydoll and her parents. There is a Star Wars exhibit on display and the whole family apart from me are fans!
I am looking forward to seeing her, but have put a set of reins in my bag, she is not to be trusted! 😄

My favourite part of the museum is the cobbled Street with shops from my child hood and a replica of a Glasgow Subway station. I never fail to feel nostalgic.

We plan to have takeaway tonight, so no cooking a Sunday Roast, Yippee.
I will need to put a reminder on the fridge to do my injection. Last Sunday I only remembered in the middle of dinner. DH was really annoyed at my lax attitude!
I think it is psychological! I have no problems with injections, it is just blooming excrutiating. I swear the needle is the size of a knitting needle! 🥴

Have a pleasant Sunday everyone and hugs for all with mountains to climb.💐
