Your choice- but I truly don't get it.

Nothing grin. Just use backpacks.

Or pockets.

I’ve got expensive bags in the cupboard and honestly they hardly see the light of day.

I have a crossbody Ralph Lauren large purse which I use constantly. Had it for years.

Got a Cath Kidston backpack covered in poppies, daisies and buttercups for a tenner in the Oxfam shop. It will probably "see me out'...as my gran used to say. Great features including hidden straps with firm poppers to foil would be pickpockets. Best of all it makes me feel your again....

Crivvens! 'Young again"!

You'll get this Claremont wink I just paid £4.50 for a Radley bag BNWT (brand new without tags) ... on Vinted.

(I also don't get it.)

I (DH) paid a four figure sum for one of my bags.

On average probably £250-£450, they last forever, and my daughters-in-law have their eyes on their favourites as has my daughter, granddaughter and nieces.

Good grief. I am not short of a bob or two but could never spend that sort of money on a handbag. I will spend on investment clothes which will still look good in years to come but not on a bag. I guess you’re into designer labels. Apart from Armani, I have never seen the attraction. I prefer understated and timeless.

My handbags are definitely understated and timeless

I do not do bling in any item of jewellery or clothing.

My last big buy was a Guess bag that I bought for £25 in a charity shop. I know how much they are so I was very pleased.

Have a thing for Kipling and Radley bags. Many are second hand but a few were bought as presents. Can't afford the more expensive designer bags.
I do use most of them in rotation, though some have stayed in the wardrobe for too long.

That is good. I have bought second hand Radleys, my favourites are their cross body bags. I have bought on ebay and on one occasion in a charity shop. But never that cheap.
Well done.

Since you can only use one at at time I have two, the current one replaced the previous which is under the stairs
Probably about £100 for the one in use, it’ll get used until it wears out, or I’m bought one as a gift. I can’t be doing with moving the contents from one to the other just to have a change.

Having posted on the coat thread about not spending more than 25€ on a handbag, I have to say I’m more influenced by colour and style than by brand. If it coordinates with my outfit it’s a winner, regardless of cost is my motto.

Don't get what?
Handbags? I use a shoulder bag or, more usually, a cross-border bag now.

The one I use was free 🙂

I love handbags and spend as much as I can afford on one. The same with shoes and coats. I don't have huge amounts to spend though.

I did go through a bit of a handbag phase, my most prized one being a Mulberry, which cost way too much. Amongst others I've got a Longchamp handbag, several Radleys, a quilted black handbag, with a chain like the classic Chanel but cheaper from Russell and Bromley. Here's the thing though of late, except when we go out to dinner somewhere special, I can't be arsed bothered changing over bags, I'm very wedded to my small, neat. cross the body, slightly larger than a purse, but big enough for phone, cards, lipstick, Airpods and keys bag I've also decided I don't like lugging larger bags around particularly the ones on the shoulder, they don't feel comfortable anymore. My mother's handbags resembled filing cabinets, they had receipts, letters, bank statements. I was well to becoming my mother, the larger my handbag the more I accumulated. Life's too short to be permanently rummaging, I lost sizeable portions of my life trying to find what I was looking for.

As I can no longer wear fancy shoes, I moved on to bags! Mostly cross body, but I do have a Bayswater (GG13?), although I’m rather careful where I take her!

TerriBull Sun 19-Jan-25 20:37:57

well on the way
