What do you carry in your handbag

Following on from the cost threads.

I posted that I only carry a cross body purse almost all the time.

So I only really have room for cards, cash, car/house keys and at a real squash phone.

But I can’t really think what else is necessary?

It is still a good idea to have hand sanitiser with you. Think of all the things touched by other people which will carry bacteria.

I have tissues and some sweets in my handbag as well as keys, money and cards.

Phone, purse, tissues, cards, car and house keys,
Pencil and rubber- I sing in three choirs

Redhead56 Mon 20-Jan-25 09:26:57

Folded carrier bag
Lipstick eyebrow pencil essential as I have none and mirror
Tablets various
Pouch with driving licence bus pass
Inhaler two of them
Spare keys
Small pack wipes and tissues
Couple of boiled sweets incase I start coughing
I actually cannot stand a bag but they are a necessary evil otherwise my pockets would be stuffed that’s not a good look.

My handbag has quite a lot of stuff in it, which would serve for an emergency overnight bag. However, I don't often take the whole kit and kaboodle.

If I'm just popping out locally I have my purse in one pocket, tissues in another, hand cream in another, and phone down my bra. Hand cream is decanted into a small flat tin. Single house key in the coin compartment of my purse. Purse is reduced to cash, credit and debit card and, if I'm going to the doctor's, health insurance card.

Loyalty cards are all on my phone now, anything else can be seen to when I get back home.

I forgot hand cream and sanitizer, also a pen.

I don't use the same handbag on a regular basis so I pop my phone, which contains my cards, a small brush, lipstick, tissues and keys into whichever I'm using. I leave some cash in the bags I use regularly and a strip of paracetamol so I've always got some to hand if needed.

At the start of the year I had a good sort out and decided to get rid of some bags I've not used for a long time and ended up with quite a lot of cash having found five or ten pound notes in some of them!

Depends on where I’m going. If it’s just e.g. to the shops, or for a riverside walk*, I take just a little NT cross body ‘organiser’ bag, a brilliant recent buy - just cards, bus pass holder, tissues, keys, small hairbrush, phone - and a spare folded shopping bag. Very light to ‘wear’.

*when I might want a coffee, or decide to take the bus home!

Oh and sometimes a small umbrella ☔

TheWeirdoAgain59 Mon 20-Jan-25 10:30:14

As well as the absolute essentials -
glasses, tissues, pen/small notebook, small bottle of hand sanitizer, comb, I always carry a paperback book as I've always got my hooter in a book, and a little teddybear!

My house and work keys, mobile and purse/ID are always in my pockets incase my handbag is nicked.

I never wear any sort of makeup/nail polish so I don't have to drag such things around with me, thankfully!

Oh, and a bag of Cadbury Minstrels .... oh yumyum nomnoms!

Actually, just thinking about it, I have lots of things in the car that I would have in my bag otherwise.

A notepad, phone charger, glasses wipes, sunglasses, fruit pastels, tic tacs

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 20-Jan-25 11:08:51

I carry far too much stuff in my "everyday" bag -

make-up bag
mirror
hairbrush
comb
baby wipes
purse
mobile 'phone
pens & notebook
spare knickers
socks
reading glasses
Paracetamol

tanith Mon 20-Jan-25 12:09:42

OMG! I can’t imagine lugging a bag filled with all that stuff around with me. As there are more people with ‘stuff’ than without I guess I’m the ‘odd’ one 🤣🤣🤣

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 20-Jan-25 12:11:33

Some handbags must be the size of a backpack going off what some of you cart about!
