Good morning from an as yet dry Bristol. It was very frosty yesterday morning but doesn’t appear so today. I hope that the newest storm doesn’t affect any of you too much.
We had a nice chat in church yesterday morning; there are several aficionados of aeroplane manufacture, including one young woman who is an aeronautical engineer.
The afternoon was spent vacuuming and washing floors, sewing, etc.
Much the same today , after church.

Good morning Mick and all to come - hope you all came through the storm relatively unscathed and your homes likewise. North 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 missed it this time which is good as Holyhead port has just reopened after the last biggie before Christmas.

A quick trot for my 🗞️ to the next village shortly although we’re promised rain later and I need to pop out to Llandudno for new pillows as spare room mattress will arrive tomorrow- I’ve promised Mr PG a night in the newly spruced 🛏️ room with tea and 🥐 (I do try to keep things exciting…🤣)

Some baking later (a home with no 🍰 is just a house as my lovely grandmother used to say) and a John Grisham 📕 to finish - a lovely Sunday methinks 🤗

Good morning from a bracing Cornwall where the trees above my patio are dancing. A bus ride yesterday took me to a long session in our University library, surrounded by masses of book on textiles and alternative fashion, oh joy. Then coffee at my favourite charity shop.

Today I'll delight in pottering on my (sheltered) patio in the gales and later join my youngest son and my 15-year-old grandson for an evening meal in Wetherspoons where there's a blazing log fire.

The forecast is not good, more wind and rain to contend with.

Good morning from Malta where we have another fine day with a high of 20°C forecast.

Had a lovely time with the boys yesterday. I will be back doing daily childcare from Monday week so am hoping I will be able to keep them busy.

The men’s final of the Australian Open starts at 9.30 am so I am going to be stuck to the sofa until it’s over, after which I shall do the jobs I should have done yesterday.

5 lovely hours on the plot yesterday, the sun was out and factor 50 on. I did not notice the aches until afterwards, they went away overnight.

Good morning all. 1deg but a much calmer day, never thought I would class gusts of 30mph winds as calmer but after Fridays 80mph experience, 30:is a breeze.

Good to hear you are sleeping in your bed again Mick. Fingers crossed you find a comfortable recliner.

As a cousin who lives locally had to bow out of our usual extended family Burns Supper event as her DH wasn’t up to it due to ill health, I took up her invitation of a quieter supper at hers. Had a bit of a wobble when I glanced at DH’s kilt in the wardrobe but with a cosy more intimate time with family, I enjoyed the evening and their company.

Feeling motivated yesterday, not only did I repair the vacuum, I wedged two strong posts to prop up the tilted fence panel, not so much of a panic now until someone comes out to repair it.
As DD1 was passing mine en route for her hair appointment, GD2 asked to be dropped off here. She requested chopped egg in a mug and we had a lovely cosy catch up on her latest news.
Such visits are the best medicine.

Good morning, too dark to see what you the weather is doing but yesterday was a lovely day if you were out of the cold. We went to an Italian restaurant for lunch and had a lazy afternoon.
Today I have to do some housework as we are having an alarm system fitted tomorrow, then some baking and steak pie for lunch.
Good to hear you are back in your bed Mick although with a comfortable recliner I suspect you will spend some nights in there instead.

Good morning all it’s blooming freezing here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterday was spent clearing up after the storm which wrecked devastation for some. I’m just relaxing today thinking of my holiday in the sunshine I’m off soon to Tenerife

Good morning Mick and all GN'S on a very dark but still morning. Literally cannot see a thing outside not even the shadow of the tree, but quiet, so no sound of rain or wind right now.

Still have the rear garden cordoned off as roof has tiles missing . Doesnt affect me so much of course being ground floor, but spoke to upstairs neighbour, who said that the people who came to do a temporary job say that all the tiles are rubbish and it needs a new roof. I think it is a trusted firm, not a cowboy one, so the owners will not be happy about that. They are not having a good start to their year with my bathroom stuff to begin with. There are 18 flats altogether here so on two levels like a house size so that means that they have 9 roofs to look at , as as far as i can see, the complete set of flats were built at the same time. So we shall see what happens, but he has rain coming in through the roof and buckets etc catching it so they have to do something.

I am not physically in a good shape. Usual pain in back etc but today my knees are giving me hell and woke me up about 4am, and now my hands are in the same union and every move I make is painful, but just have to hope that it wears off a bit and that the painkillers will kick in soon.

However , mentally am in a better place and beginning to plan how to get round etc, for which I thank all kind GN's comments , which were a great comfort and help to me.

So yesterday , again a mixed bag. I had sent the "yellow peril" mobility scooter off to be sorted out. The man had a real job to get it to his van as it is a large size and because it wouldnt even start it had to be brute strength. He said he would check out the problems, ring me with the findings and then assuming I agreed to it sort it and give it a service and return , hopefully that evening or the next day. Well the storm was so bad they did not even open the shop, so it was yesterday before it came back. He rang me , and even he said are you sitting down when I asked the price! £588 !!! I needed 2 new batteries, a new charger and the service. Somewhat of a shock, but right now I desperately need it to have some chance to get around, so had to pay it on credit for now and will sort it out at the bank in the week. So very much a mixed feeling! Glad to be able to get around but ooh the cost!

So that is partly why I am struggling today. fortunately it was dry but windy yesterday, and it is weeks since I was out on it , so had o find gloves and suitable clothes etc but then was able to go to the market on it, and to various shops.

It was a positive feeling to be out at last and on my own terms, not having to wait for taxis or ask for help from friends etc. My independance is very important to me. However , though it is quite well sprung, the potholes and cobbles etc did not help my back at all, and of course back to the total mix on the market. Lots of helpful stall holders, and thoughtful pedestrians but the usual totally selfish set who walk 3 abreast and never look at other peoples needs, the morons who park their cars half on the pavement so that I cannot get by and there is no lower kerb so have to retrace my steps for ages to be able to get across the street etc. So anyway am now back into yellow peril mode, and left it charging last night and will see how it goes today.

Love my sunday radio, so much radio 3, and 4 Desert Island Discs (Which annoying I keep forgetting the new time0 Private Passions with the lovely voice of Micheal Berkeley, Gardeners Question Time etc. pick of the week .
So plodding on with more sorting out things.

Anyone doing the Big Garden Bird Watch? I have done it for many years but will have to see how I feel a bit later on. Couldnt manage to sit out the way I am at the moment. Good morning from a wet hillside in south Glos, it’s a tad blowy too with heavy rain forecast for the next few days 🙄
I’m going to start a new piece of embroidery today, gold work, something different, and am looking forward to it.
DH will walk the dog this morning, I will take her out later, he heads for the village where the Coffee Waggon sets up and then the pair of them have a wander around before coming back.
Pork in cider for dinner with mash, swede and vegetables 😋
At some point I will continue reading my book about Hampton Court, it’s very interesting 🤨

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining.
DD has power again.
DS3 arrived yesterday and we enjoyed a haggis supper by the fire, listening to the Burns concert on the radio. It's so nice to see him again. He'd delivered DGD to her uni on the way.

He's supposed to be helping declutter today. I've even booked a house viewing later - a bungalow.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from still dark South Yorkshire. We are expecting rain today, but yesterday was lovely; calm and sunny so I went out for a walk - ended up doing just under five miles, which is a long way for me at the moment and today I’m paying for it. I hadn’t banked on the path across the fields on the way home being flooded so it meant half a mile I could have done without. Anyway, no pain, no gain as they say. I need to start building up to longer walks this year.
DD and the menfolk will be here later for a roast dinner. Apple and blackberry crumble for dessert.

I was disturbed through the night by the heating firing up/going off, so currently enjoying TIB with the tv on.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright and frosty here, I think this is the calm before the next storm arrives later today. Yesterday was sunny and calm. I changed the bedding, washed, dried and ironed it, pleased with myself. Didn’t feel like going out for a walk as it was quite cold.
DD2 and family called in during the afternoon, and assembled my new shredder for me.
DSil1 will come over today to try to sort out my Apple account, which has possibly been hacked! Had a sleepless night worrying about it. Still have a few things to iron, and must sort out some photos which have been in a box in the living room for about 6 months!

Good morning Mick and everyone from calm, dry Carlisle where we had a bit of rain overnight.
I was a nervous wreck on Friday with the 80mph gusts coming down our wind tunnel at the back and hitting the fence. No damage anywhere around in the end. Carlisle figured on the evening TV news, our leisure centre had to be evacuated as the temporary roof was threatening to come off. The early morning swimmers had to get out pdq!
Yesterday was such a contrast, calm and sunny. I had an early trip to Sainsbury's for some fresh veggies plus the usual unplanned purchases, then home for coffee and a long phone chat with my sister.
After lunch, with all that lovely sunshine, I had to get outside in the garden. I spent well over an hour lopping and pruning, mostly the roses and buddleias in the back garden. This is a job I used to do in March but they are already breaking out new leaves. All my spring bulbs are rocketing up too. There was a real feel of spring in the air which really lifted me after the stress of Friday.
Today, unless it starts raining shortly, I shall get out for an early walk then it will be back to read the papers and the new book I started yesterday, a brand new half price one I found in an interesting second hand bookshop in Bristol at Christmas.

We’re off to the Sunday market at the port area this morning and then a walk a bit further along the coast. We might need to pop back to the apartment first though depending on the shopping! DH has just gone out for fresh croissants so we’ll be enjoying those first before we go out
