Good afternoon I’ve had a busy morning cleaning and got my 5 year old grandson for the day as he’s full of a cold but he’s no trouble at all . Very cold and windy here in the south so heating on full xx

Almost good afternoon everyone. It's a grey dreich day here in the Angus coast. This is my 'early morning' after another night of no sleep. I just don't know how to cope with this sleeplessness, which if course is nothing compared with what some of you are suffering from.
Anyway, I had such a lovely weekend after the 'storm which didn't touch us'. After consulting all possible local weather forecast between here and the family I took the decision to risk the 80 mile drive - Scott couldn't have prepared more diligently for Antarctica! We had a lovely, totally non-traditional, Burns Supper together followed by silly games and laughter, and then went out for an alfresco breakfast in the snow on Sunday morning. What more could a body ask for! And then a lovely drive home with far less traffic on the roads than usual.
Today is GS Fraser's appointment with his oncologist to arrange for his six months of injections for his Hairy Cell Leukaemia. He knows it's going to be a rather unpleasant time ahead but the prognosis is good and he's so positive and determined - and of course he has L'le Ollie to distract him and cheer him on.
So off I go, four hours late starting my day and a tai chi committee meeting to attend.
Enjoy your afternoon and evening everyone x

Good afternoon,

Bright but chilly here today. We’ve had a lot of rain through the night.

Just got back from coffee morning group so thought I’d read through the posts here before starting a few chores.

Hope those of you feeling unwell soon improve.

hollysteers Mon 27-Jan-25 11:39:45

Happy birthday Harris
Brightening here on the northwest coast. I’m not sure if I have a virus or a bilious migraine, but I’m feeling rough. Headache with pain when I move my head and upset stomach. No cold or cough symptoms. I have IBS and hiatus and abdominal hernia op in October, so not thrilled to be still suffering…

Enough woe from me but frustrating as I want to get on with things.
All the best Bella and don’t worry about rambling on Whiff, as long as there are plenty of paragraphs it’s no problem 👍

You're a mere youngster.

Good morning from a wet, blustery and cold Oxfordshire.

The electrician is here, so sideboard is now empty and moved in the dining room everything piled onto the table and sofa, sofa in sitting room moved away from the wall and the cupboard under the stairs emptied. As well as fixing new sockets he is installing an alarm system after our attempted break in whilst we were on holiday. He’s trying to do the inside bits whilst it’s raining outside.

So I’m squished in the sitting room with the door closed as it’s chilly in the other rooms, apart from the bedrooms this is the only place left to sit out of the way and he will be in here soon, at last I can pack away the extension cables.

Harris many happy returns of the day
Madeline 💐

Have a good day everyone, stay safe.

karmalady I think you must live in the same town as my parents did. Friends and family still there said they had terrific thunder storm yesterday, lots of flooding around the town and surrounding villages shown on the FB group. And I have been reading about the local hardware store that is selling up after 100 years in same family, one of those names everyone knew a few years back.
We had heavy rain and the tail end of the thunder yesterday but we are now having our own lightning storm. Just started but seems to be clearing fairly quickly.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester after an epic night’s sleep! We are both sat enjoying out first mug of TIB. It’s dry and sunny out a nice surface. We have no plans which is super after our busy and very enjoyable weekend.

I shall crack on with my book for most of the day!

GrandMattie me too

Good morning from a bright NE after overnight rain.
Yesterday I washed several loads of towels, as it doesn't involve ironing I could just go off and catch up with a Netflix series.
I hope DS has had the internet reconnected, they have been without since Friday morning.
Have the best day you can.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. Although damp it looks fairly bright outside.

Lots of rain yesterday. Beechnutella was supposed to be coming to stay for a few days but she cried off because of weather etc. I’m not sure whether she will come today or not.

I’ve got some crafting to do today and my brother will come by on his way home from work.

Have a good day all 🌸

Good Morning everyone, wishing you all the best on this wet and windy day. Take care.

GrannySomerset Mon 27-Jan-25 09:02:03

Currently sunny, which is lovely after yesterday’s downpours, though later in the day looks wet and windy. A domestic day ahead I think, and I must finish the book group tome so as to think about it and why I have found it so hard to read. Hope today is satisfactory for everyone.

EkwaNimitee Mon 27-Jan-25 08:47:33

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright, dry and calm Carlisle. We haven't suffered much wind and rain here.

I went for a walk in the park after breakfast yesterday, I like getting out whilst most folk are still in their Sunday beds.
The paths were frosty so I was rather wary in spite of wearing good trainers. Several large trees were down, one across the main path around the Pond so a muddy detour was necessary. The guys with chainsaws will no doubt be out today.

Today, I must pop into town to collect prescriptions. I'm not finding it easy to juggle my various pills, two months ago I wasn't needing any! I suppose I've been lucky.
The rest of the morning will be devoted to the routine weekly jobs and the afternoon to reading my book and finishing the paper. I must also research a new iron, my old one is irretrievably clogged with limescale which I failed to shift yesterday. Until I came here, I was always in a soft water area and hadn't realised the necessity of regular descaling of irons etc.

Wishing you all a good day if possible.

Marydoll Mon 27-Jan-25 08:26:44

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 3°C and cloudy.

Bella, I used to hate those appointments, when I was awaiting a hysterectomy, but a necessary evil. I find those appointments become more embarrassing as we get older.
I remember sitting waiting for an appointment with a lady GP, when I spotted my own GP, so I hid behind a magazine. He came over, pulled the magazine aside and asked if I had fallen out with him. blush I hissed that it was a gynae problem and I didn't want to see him.😂

Kalu, what a lovely surprise. My DS and DIL often frequent the Grosvenor. I remember it well from my university days. It wasn't so luxurious then!

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans. A day of rest here, I'm not picking up at all.

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Jan-25 08:23:17

Morning from a blustery and wet S Hants, yesterday was similar with heavy rain, not a lot was done.
Today voluntary phone, lunch with a friend and quiz tonight, in between I need to wipe down the kitchen units/kickboards.
Good luck this afternoon Bellas

Good morning all from the Black country.
Another day of no plans will take it as it comes.
Bellasnanna hope all goes well with your appointment and the little one soon recovers.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️
