Good morning from Malta where it’s still dark but we expect a high of 21°C later.

I’m off to look after littlest who has a fever so he’s missing nursery today.

I have a gynaecologist appointment this afternoon which I’m absolutely dreading.😫

Wishing you all a good day. ☀️

grandMattie Mon 27-Jan-25 05:47:03

Good morning from a still wet Bristol. I hope it dries as I’ve got a busy day.
I hope this latest storm, Hermine, isn’t affecting you too much.
My eye is doing well, thank you MD, just one more night with the eye shield. New glasses soon too!
I had a lovely occurrence yesterday. I was taking my seat in church when a young woman came flying up and gave me a huge hug. After reciprocating, I asked what caused this, she said that she was feeling happy! It gave me a warm feeling all day.
Didn’t do much for the rest of the day - a bit of this, a bit of that…
I need to go to town for various things including a new kettle. Philip’s kettle is sadly leaking; another little daily memory of him going.
My neighbour will also take me to Tesco, as well as the OAP film this afternoon. Not sure I’ll go though as the film is baseball based and very American.
Have a peaceful week. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

grandMattie Mon 27-Jan-25 05:48:04

Good luck Bellas. These examinations are horrid aren’t they? I hope they are gentle and kind 🤞🤞🤞

Morning Mick, morning All. Can hear rain on the bedroom window, sounds as if our corner of Somerset is both wet and windy.

Goodness yesterday was wild, we stayed at home watching horizontal rain. Copying photos from an old hard drive to oir Mac was less fraught than I had anticipated, today I’ll choose which (very few!) to have printed then it will be on with my sorting process.

May venture out to collect a pair of trousers from M&S food if the weather eases, if not we’ll stay put. I’m weary, sleep doesn’t seem to be my friend again so am happy to have some quiet days at home.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from s somerset, wet and windy all day

Torrential rain yesterday and the loudest thunderstorm ever, we were under a supercell, one that can spark tornadoes. Several areas around here have been flooded, not my town as we are higher and a rest centre was set up locally yesterday, people were evacuated to it.

It is all change, the best, oldest and biggest, local retail business is having to close, cannot afford the new taxes. There is a sad cloud over my little town

It needs to be an indoor day again today

Have a good day

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

I might iron this morning but I have a Carer Learning session starting at 12.30 so might just pootle and faff until it's time to go.

Have the best day possible all.

Kalu Mon 27-Jan-25 06:26:06

Good morning all. 3 deg. and still dark outside with heavy rain predicted for the day in Glasgow. Yuck.

I got a lovely surprise invitation from DD1 last night, a pre theatre meal and sofa seats at the Grosvenor Cinema in Glasgow on Thursday night to see A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet portraying Bob Dylan. I am so looking forward to it and ‘a night out’, the first in a very long time.
Not much of a productive day yesterday, 2/3 at home days without the option of getting out to the garden is my limit before feeling stir crazy. I will take my car for a run today, top up with diesel and look out for a cake and coffee stop venue.

Have the best day possible all

Morning from the north west. Rained in the night hopefully dry when it's time to go too my sit fit class this afternoon.

Managed to do 150 rotations on my static pedals yesterday first time I have been able to do any since my stay in 2 hospitals 6-13th. Pre hospital stay did 300 daily . At least been able to do my daily exercises since last weekend and Thursday without holding on to my bed bar. Went to sit fit last Monday but wasn't able to do couple of the exercises and the rest slower than normal. But my tum is no longer a mass of purple bruising just a yukky yellow with couple of patches of purple all caused by injections . But I am on a blood thinner so bruising worse. Plus one of the injections hurt a lot which made it painful to move . Turned out after an ultrasound the injection had gone these are the consultants words my subterranean fat layer and caused an inflammation hence the pain. When he said that Jules Vernes journey to the centre of the earth popped into my head.

Circuit training at sit fit so hopefully will beable to do everything.

Saw cardiologist on Wednesday ruled out heart attack after the angiography slight furring in my right artery so didn't need a stent. Going to prescribe low dose statin to prevent further furring. Referring my to neurologist as they think I had a TIA mini stroke and a brain MRI will show the smallest detail. Last time I had a MRI on my brain was 2017 . The CT scan I had on the 6th didn't show anything but MRI might show if I had one. He hoped I wouldn't have to wait to long.

Seeing my GP Wednesday as cardiologist discharged me back to their care and said they could help me with my water retention and breathlessness. Which they wouldn't do until I saw a cardiologist. Funny enough the referral went in July and had the 22nd appointment 3 weeks before I ended up in hospital for a week.
At least I am feeling my normal self again.
Yes I ramble on🤦🤷. But anyone who is on other threads already know that . 🤣

Greyduster Mon 27-Jan-25 06:30:25

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark, damp and cold. Had a lovely family dinner yesterday, though DD was unusually quiet. GS made up for it. No idea what’s on the cards today. A good tidy up probably and then something exciting - like ironing😩!
Have the best day you can, folks.

NannyJan53 Mon 27-Jan-25 06:31:43

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country.

Up super early (for me) to chop veg and simmer the chicken to make soup.

Monday walk this morning, then Line Dancing this afternoon with my friend. Thinking about it, I have known her for 53 years from the age of 18 and starting college.

Best of luck Bellas for your appointment today.

How wonderful gM, that you had that 'moment'. We should all try to spread our happiness more.

NannyJan53 Mon 27-Jan-25 06:37:45

Crossed posts Whiff glad to see you are on the mend flowers

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Jan-25 06:43:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and damp. Still too dark to tell though. Bellasnana I hope your appointment is better than you fear. GrandMattie a little hug is good for you.
Yesterday dgs2 and I went to the local garden centre for breakfast. He was very well behaved. Later, after he went home, I visited mum who was not good. She is refusing to eat and drink and has a rattly cough. The nurses are concerned about her. She did not want to talk and kept her head turned away, so it was a fairly short visit.
At night, just before I went to bed, most of the lights went off, but not all. I spent ages worrying about fuses etc and couldn't find a torch. Then, thanks to my phone and Facebook, I discovered it was a power cut with partial lights going out. All seems ok now.
Today is a busy one. I pick up the boys, then drop them off at school/nursery. Then head into the school to start clearing the library. It will be a long job. This afternoon, I'm having lunch at a friend's house and a catch up before picking up the boys again. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton; but everything will be very soggy after yesterday's continual heavy rain. Was rather glad I didn't have to go out yesterday!

So a day at home where not much was achieved! Caught up with the newspapers, watched some tv and that was about it! Listened to some Joan Baez on Alexa, (inspired by the Bob Dylan film).
Also booked a ticket on-line for the new Bridget Jones film.

Yoga at 9.30 this morning, will be picked up about 9, then coffee afterwards at the little cafe round the corner. An afternoon of pottering and then reading.
A pineapple and ginger turkey stir-fry to make for dinner.

Wishing all a good Monday.

Kalu Mon 27-Jan-25 07:06:25

I hope your gynaecology appointment isn’t as bad as you anticipate Bella🤞 Unpleasant all the same but soon over.

Grammaretto Mon 27-Jan-25 07:10:58

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Yesterday we found a huge conifer branch had snapped off in the storm. DS chopped and stacked it for firewood. A couple of panes of glass were smashed in the greenhouse.

We viewed a house for sale too. It's in a good location but the garden is on a slope and there are no cupboards! Fussy moi?

We planned to see the Bob Dylan film but our old friend turned up to see DS so I cooked while they watched football. 🙄 like old times
How nice to have such a happy day gMattie. Well done Whiff on your recovery.
Thinking of all who are sad or struggling.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Jan-25 07:15:56

Morning everyone, it has stopped raining here, but more is forecast for this morning.

Hopefully off to the gym this morning, but The Imp had a temperature last night, so I am waiting to hear if we have him here today.

Take care folks 🙋‍♀️

Allsorts Mon 27-Jan-25 07:22:06

Good Morning from the Midlands, going to venture out today.
Like the sound if your dinner Blue Sapphire, you might hear a tap on your door. I have cauli cheese and bacon, nit very exciting but looking forward to it.

baubles Mon 27-Jan-25 07:28:10

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire

We too are going to see that film today Kalu. Not the Grosvener although I’m very fond of that cinema, we once lived very close to it.

Hope your appointment isn’t too stressful Bella.

There are still a few trees blocking roads locally, countless trees were felled so it’s taking a while.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Redcar Mon 27-Jan-25 07:28:42

Good morning from mid Essex, it’s getting light and is damp and breezy out, 6 degrees according to the garden thermometer. Son in law sorted out my computer woes yesterday and it’s all secure again. He and the six year old came straight to me after the six year old’s riding lesson, which was held in an open sided barn. They were both frozen, but my heating was on so they soon warmed up.
Torrential rain again all yesterday afternoon and evening, more showers forecast for today. I’ll go out for a walk if it’s not too windy.
bellasnana I hope your appointment isn’t too painful this afternoon.
Have the best day possible everyone and stay safe in the gales.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 27-Jan-25 07:34:18

Morning all from a damp and grey West Oxfordshire.

Our cleaner is due this morning. OH has a hospital appointment this afternoon. He is happy to drive himself there. I will stay home and do some admin.

I am excited about collecting my new car tomorrow! I sorted out the insurance yesterday, so I’m raring to go.

Have a good day everyone. The new storm has obviously arrived - I thought it was Hugo, but apparently it’s something else beginning with H.

RosesandLilac Mon 27-Jan-25 07:36:15

Good morning from soggy south Glos where yesterday’s torrential rains have lead to flooding on all fhe roads from the village.
DH and the dog had a short morning walk, I took her out mid afternoon during a lull in the storm. Apart from that it was a very quiet day spent doing more embroidery or reading.
I slept badly so will be somewhat dopey today 🙄, at least I don’t have anything much going on.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Georgesgran Mon 27-Jan-25 07:46:59

Good Morning from Durham. Another cold, wet day to come.

Usual coffee date this morning. Later, I’m going to visit my late friend’s husband. He’s a terrible boaster and name dropper -worse since she died, but we stay in touch. He’s quite lost without her.

Best wishes to all. X

Bellasnana Mon 27-Jan-25 07:50:50

Thanks for your kind comments. 🌻

At the moment I’m more worried about littlest who is quite poorly.

DD3 had to take him to the clinic late last night as he was vomiting constantly, about ten times she said. Poor little boy, he still has a fever but I have cuddled him to sleep and hope he will feel better after a good rest.

I hope his brother won’t catch whatever it is. He went to nursery crying for ‘Brother’ so DD3 and I were nearly in tears.

Morning Mick and all GN's on this very dark but so far still morning in north Yorkshire. Hope your hospital appt goes well Bella nana

Cant tell lies so cant put good in front of this morning. Had a very poor night, waking a couple of times in pain, but also waking worrying I had overslept. This morning I have to go to the options. The appointment is for 10am but have to be there for 9.30am for them to put drops in. So no good taking a book with me to read whilst I wait, and hate the tension of waiting to start something. I find , now that I am a widow and live alone, that I cant win with appointments and sleep now. Have always preferred to get an early appointment, especially if it is something unpleasant like hospital one. I wake up early worrying about whatever it is anyway so cant concentrate until it is over so go for earliest I can get. However , despite alarm clocks etc, I tend to wake up a couple of times in the night checking the clock and hoping I havent dozed off again.

So today gave up and got up before 5am. Very depressing, living in a flat, dont feel I can put the radio on. (suppose I could think of ear phone but dont really like wearing them.) The forecast is for rain so have to get the big yellow mac out as am now into mobility scooter mode of course. Have a fluorescent yellow beanie hat and gloves. Doesnt do a lot for my hairdo or my fashion sense , but can be seen coming which is more to the point. so it looks like a library in here as I took the opportunity to sort through a lot of books and now have about 5 different large shopping bags loaded with neat piles of books. They range from precious ones that I shall keep but havent got any bookcases sorted yet. uncertain ones - will read and decide if they then stay or go, definitely going to either community centre book shelves or to tesco here who have a good idea where various people from charities or schools or whatever collect a load of books and then they have that book shelf for about a week. they usually charge about £1 for hardbacks and 50p for paperbacks . A very green and good idea. The organisers raise some much needed cash, you get the pleasure of looking through a wide variety of books and supporting the charity and then as I say I either pass them on to another charity or return them to Tesco to do the rounds again.

As a book worm, I love second hand book shops more than new ones as it is that wonderful possibliity of finding some new author that you enjoy. I dont know about any of you but if I find a new author I then devour all the other books of theirs, and am quite sad when I find out they have died so no chance of any new ones. Well I am trying to think of lunch time now, because that will mean I have got through this morning. I treated myself to some thin sliced smoked salmon in the reduced basket from tesco, so intend to reward myself with water biscuits and salmon and I think I shall even award myself a glass of white wine. dont often do that alone at lunch time but am treating myself like a child and telling myself to look forward to that and get through this morning. But oh I am very worried, just hope they say they can operate and it is going to be ok, and not that the diabetes means that they will come back or whatever. Thankyou all for putting up with me rabbiting on. I know on this memorial day for Auschwitz I have so little to complain about and think about how important it is to keep remembering what the Nazis did, and never allow the appalling people who try to say it never happened to gain a foothold. May such terrible times never happen again.
Hope you all have a decent day and now here comes the rain in quite a heavy shower, so I had better look out the waterproofs now.
