Good Morning Everyone,
A dark and cold dry start to the day here in brackley .
Yesterday I went to the disability shop, and have sorted out a reclining chair , its a good deal they will also take my old chair away as well .
Usual routine on the bus to Bicester , say hello to some people I know , return lunch and watch cycling on TV .
Health Front OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Haven't looked out the window yet. But it's cold .
Is you reclining chair electric Michael and has all the bells and whistles?

Must be a gluten for punishment. Went to sit fit yesterday afternoon it was circuit training which is always fun . This morning going to a new class move it or lose it . The lady running it came to our sit fit class last week to see what we did. She was a physiotherapist so will be in safe hands. Any way it's in the church where I go for sit fit just round the corner from where I live . Plus the cafe will be open so may have a treat afterwards see how I feel.

Good morning from a dark Malta where another fine day is expected with a high of 20°C.

Well done for getting your recliner ordered, Mick, something to look forward to.

Yesterday’s gynae appointment wasn’t fun but it’s over thank goodness! I agree with Marydoll these things are more of an ordeal as we get older, I never bothered about it in my younger days.

I’m off to look after littlest again today. He was really unwell yesterday, just wanted to be cuddled, bless him. He slept for a good three hours which I always feel is the best medicine.

I’m hoping his brother doesn’t catch this nasty virus, I’m not sure how I’d cope with two poorly littlies.

I better be off, I’ve got another stinking cold, slept badly again and hope I can buck up a bit.

Wishing a good day to all and apologies for missing birthdays yesterday, hope they were happy ones.☀️

Good morning from a now dry Bristol. Weather not too promising today, though we are moving from 7C to 8C!

I had a frustrating morning trying to get a pale yellow fabric for my quilt; plenty of other pastels but not yellow or lime green. Not a lot of luck online either.

My neighbour agreed to push back the Tesco visit - with “permission “ from her friend who I don’t like. She asked me which “town” I had gone to so briefly as “London was very far”, snobbish thing.

I was successful at Lidl which also had sun dried tomatoes, which have been missing for months. Yay!

The afternoon was full of pottering - I didn’t go to the monthly OAP film show and missed the two huge squalls just at the times I would have come and gone.

Today, I’m going to the solicitors with DD and SiL to sign my PoA. This has been another legal saga taking over a year. The last chambers I dealt with “forgot to tell me that the man I had been dealing with no longer worked for them”. Probate for DH has been going on for longer in the hands of solicitors, leave the government offices… grrr

I have a PCC meeting this evening and also need to bake for the FAB cafe tomorrow and coffee on Saturday.

May all your difficulties ease today. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from soggy s somerset, windy with rain all day today, again

Another indoor day again today, I went to the plot to do a very quick job yesterday and the wind was strong up there. I joined the water butts to the downpipes again, it does not feel as though there will be much of a frost this winter, so they might as well fill up. I may do the same to the house butts. It takes days of intense frost to freeze the water inside and I will get enough warning

My jumper is finished, weighs 590g and is pure soft home -spun corriedale, today I will make a hat and neck covering with the leftovers. The whole lot only cost me £35, it has been a job worth doing as well as the sheer year-round pleasure of spinning and knitting. I get the tops (fluff) from a local mill in Devon

Today I will finish the accessories and slowly start to spin another jumper weight, to knit next winter, I may use a vintage wheel from my herd, she is a steady old lady

Have a good day

Good morning everyone it’s very cold , windy and dark here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve had the dreaded norovirus twice these last couple of weeks and it’s not very nice. Through the eye of a needle comes to mind if you know what I mean. 🤢 hopefully I’m on the mend now.

Have a good day, smile smile, smile😁😁😁good days are coming (for me at least)

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's 4°C and dry so far.

The plasterer is due today to finish off some smaller patching jobs
around the house.

The tree surgeon is also coming to make 2 trees safe.
DS has to leave today . I have so enjoyed his company. We went to the cinema to see the Bob Dylan film yesterday. A trip down memory lane for me. We had an Indian carry-out later.

Whiff that class sounds perfect.
I hope you enjoy the new recliner Mick
Karmalady how satisfying to create a garment from scratch.

I am gradually getting back to normal after my hip replacement but I still find sleep elusive.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Jan-25 06:42:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and wet. Bonnybanko I hope you feel better soon. Bellasnana I hope the wee one gets better soon too.
Yesterday was a busy day. I enjoyed working in the school library. I had a number of visitors coming to say thank you for volunteering. Dgs1's teacher popped in on her way to coffee. I did a couple of hours of clearing out old and damaged stock and rearranged a couple of bookcases. Then I went to my friend's house for lunch and a blether. The four of us don't get together as often as we would like because of other commitments, so it's always nice when we do. Then picking up the boys, home for a while and then dropping them off.
I thought I would sleep well last night but, sadly no. I was up every two hours or so. Once I drop the boys off today, I'll have a nap I think. I think I'll make a chicken curry later. Have a good day all.

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.

Someone is coming to valet the oven at 9 am. We got a cancellation. He usually does a good job and takes a couple of hours.

After lunch I will drive to Oxford and collect my new car. It’s all paid for and I’ve arranged insurance.

I had hoped OH could come with me for moral support but he had a very difficult appointment with a urologist yesterday and isn’t up to doing anything for a while. He had expected a simple consultation but a procedure had to be carried out. For once he went on his own so had to drive home while in some pain. I am hoping he feels better today.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a calmer Torbay after a stormy day and night.

Before we left DH’s home in France on Sunday, we discovered that my car, parked for nearly three weeks on grass, was stuck in mud due to heavy rains!! As I panicked about missing the afternoon ferry, DH eventually managed to shift it using forward and backward movements over plastic sacks! The photo shows how it suffered!

Luckily our sea crossing was calm on Sunday but I drove us home through squally showers and disconcertingly high winds yesterday! The good news was that the roads were much less busy than usual so we were home in four hours, including a meal break.

It’s good to be home, not least because I’m back online and on here, you lucky people!! Still no internet at his house!

Hope all are as well as possible. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

RosesandLilac Tue 28-Jan-25 06:56:33

Good morning from a very wet hillside in south Glos, at least it isn’t cold.
Yesterday’s dog walk was very muddy, not that the dog minds, at least I have good wellies and waterproofs!
I spent a while tidying my bedroom drawers when I got back, there’s a bag of bits for the charity shop and some beauty bits for a friend and her daughter.
I happily sat stitching for much of the afternoon, it a small tablecloth that’s printed with leaves etc. You’re supposed to fill in the outlines with stitching but I’ve decided to stitch the outlines and then decide what to do as filling stitches, something a bit different!
A lovely teak vintage tea trolley was delivered during the afternoon, I have given it a ‘feed’ with teak oil and I am absolutely delighted with it! Perfect for my needlework bits and pieces!
Wishing you a pleasant day 🌹

Greyduster Tue 28-Jan-25 07:00:30

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dark damp South Yorkshire. I did manage to get a few jobs done yesterday but mostly had my head stuck in a book. Had a walk out in the afternoon but it was cold and the wind had started to pick up again. A volunteer session at school this afternoon. It’s going to be a wet day so I’ll have to drive rather than walk there I think.
Karma I can’t imagine there are many more calming, fulfilling occupations than spinning your own wool.👏
Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Jan-25 07:05:51

Morning everyone, we are forecast rain and wind yet again.

I shall need to look for some indoor jobs to keep me occupied.

Good to see you back Ash

Bellasnana hope you and your little GS are well soon.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s still dark and cold enough for the heating to come on.

I’ve a chiropody appointment this morning and might have a coffee while I’m out. It’s in a nearby town, but somewhere I only ever go just for this.

Sainsbury’s issued me a decent money off voucher, so that’s my destination later. DD2 has asked me to get a few things there for her, which isn’t a problem.

I’m pleased I didn’t need probate when DH died, but I must see about PoAs too gM I keep ‘forgetting’ but reminded annually by my FA.

Best wishes to all. X

kittylester Tue 28-Jan-25 07:14:00

Good morning all from a chilly, damp North Leicestershire.

Meeting friends in the next village this morning and I have a singing lesson this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyIvy Tue 28-Jan-25 07:22:52

Good morning it was going to be a trip out to view snowdrops and a nice walk today but due to the weather my friend and I are heading into town to the shops and a coffee.

I’m not sure if I’m collecting from school today as DD2 wondering whether to finish work earlier and get them herself. They go to their Dad for four nights tmrw and her time with them is very precious. Both have become very clingy to their mummy.

Wishing everyone a good day

Morning a Mick, morning All from a wet, draughty corner of Somerset.

Blood test for Mr C this morning, hair cut for me, a bed to change and dust to remove, oh yes a grocery delivery too. Nothing exciting!

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Sar53 Tue 28-Jan-25 07:31:12

Good morning from the Essex coast. I can hear the wind blowing quite hard outside.
Today is our Wedding Anniversary, we are having afternoon tea at a local hotel to celebrate.
We have been without a car since last Thursday but are hoping it will be returned today plus a new fan belt. DH can't get to his boat without a car so he has been stuck inside trying to find something to do.
I hope all poorly people feel better soon. Best wishes to all xx

luluaugust Tue 28-Jan-25 07:38:41

Good morning from a rainy W Kent. Yesterday turned into a day of elderly gents. First one of my cousins who is a widower phoned and needed reassurance about a medical procedure, did my best to reassure him and later sat and listened to DH and his very elderly old boss try to remember dates and jobs of an old work colleague whose funeral we have to attend soon.
As I am having my quiet week I have dug out my knitting. Your jumper sounds so cosy Karmalady. I wish I could embroider Roses
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s mild, damp and not as windy. I had a disturbed night, awake for two hours between 2 and 4, so feeling a bit tired this morning. The littlest granddaughter has a fever and lots of catarrh in her throat which is making her sick. She just wants her mummy, who is trying desperately to work. I hope she is better today as DD2 has a hospital appointment and doesn’t want to have to take her with her.
I intend to go to the garden centre today to stock up on birthday cards. Also trying to plan how to declutter the house! The planning will take some time, and the decluttering will undoubtedly take longer!
Have the best day possible everyone and hope that those who are poorly feel a bit better today.

Good morning from grey South Lanarkshire.

Your sweater sounds beautiful Karma.

Glad your trees survived until they can be made safe Grammaretto. We saw the same film yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed it, our house still rings to the sound of Bob Dylan some days.

Charity shop stint today, I’ll be taking it slowly.

Hope you feel better soon Bonnybanko. Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning Mick and all GN's up and about this cold still tuesday morning. Hope that the day is starting well for you all.
Well Mick , the thought of your new chair should cheer your morning. Is it going in the same place as the old one or willyou be trying out a new space. Well done Bellasnana to get the gynae appointment over with. I need to ring up to get a breast screening appointment as it is way past my last one, and now that I am 79 they do not give me one automatically. Suppose they hope I have snuffed it already, but now having my second cancer I know that I should be checking ont his as well. Would feel somewhat miffed if I have endured all this only to be caught out by another cancer!! I do feel that if yoou have already had cancer , as I have twie, that they should keep checking you with this known history. Anyway will get round to asking for an appointment as it may take some time and mean going down to York and of course now have to work out how to get there being unable to drive.

Yesterdays optician visit etc took it out of me, and am very weary this morning but till annoyingly woke up about 4.30am. i had finally got a new telephone and then when I came to try and tansfer all my stuff from the old phone found there was no sim card with it and had to go back to tesco and they ae sending me a new one. Rather frustrating and my laptop is playing up , especially annoying with eye problems as every time I try to enlarge the print it messes me about and goes too small. So I have to go to Upfront as the have the techy expert there today and get him to look at it all before I just throw it out of the window, as am on a rather short fuse at the moment. Not improved by a friend saying well of course it is a very old laptop, and you might need to change it! Not old in my eyes but that will be another flipping expense if I have to change that and not counting all the hassle of learning all the new tricks etc.
Anyway must be more positive, so looking at the sky now, it is clearing a bit and can see the tree but now have to be on the yellow peril I am affected by the weather and need to make sure I have the right clothes on, and of course allow a lot longer to travel anywhere. Oh well it will give me some much needed fresh air. So that is only plan for this morning and then just want to get home and have a bit of a rest. I am so weary. Had intended to clear up some more things, but giving up on that idea for today so hope there is nothing else to go wrong today.
Wishing you all a good day and that the weather improves soon. Hurrah it is nearly the end of January , been a rubbish month, lets move on to something better hopefully

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Jan-25 08:00:12

Happy anniversary to you both Sat. Good to see you posting again Ash. What a mess your car is!

Gingster Tue 28-Jan-25 08:02:50

Good morning all from wet and windy Essex.

Yesterday we watched the Holocaust Memorial Service. Those wonderful survivors relating their horror stories . Amazing people all in their 90’s, remembering every second of their nightmare ! 🕯️. 🙏.

Today I’m meeting my ‘oldest’ friend for coffee. I’ll hop on the train, only two stops and a five minute walk.

Back home for a quick bit with dh and then off to Bridge Club.

Happy anniversary mr and Mrs Sar. Enjoy the afternoon tea. You can’t beat that hotel!

Keep safe and warm 🌱
