As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Naughtyneine I just make a basic roux with whole milk, then add sharp strong cheddar. If I'm feeling rich, I add cream cheese and parmesan too. Stick it over the cooked macaroni and sprinkle cheddar on the top then bung it in the oven for twenty five minutes

Redcar Wed 19-Feb-25 21:54:08

neine I haven’t been on a bike since I was about 18, I think I’d fall off it if I tried to get on one now! Maybe if they had a tricycle I might manage a few yards! No room in either of the DD’s cars for my trusty rollator, it’ll have to be walking sticks or crutches as support for my back! I just want to get into that pool, bob up & down in the water for a bit, then sit and people watch! I know there’ll be a lot of walking around there, I’m trying to get into training now!

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’m having a rough time healthwise, but I try to pop in and “lurk’ and see what you’re all up to. I hope this isn’t full of typos, my vision isn’t great.

Hugs and best wishes xx

Hello!

I’m at my sister’s place feeling extremely jet lagged!

NN, I used to volunteer at Kelmscott Manor, it won’t be open until April. There is a pub in the village - The plough - which does tasty food.

I’m not sure what day it is…

Naughtyneine Thu 20-Feb-25 07:21:31

Llfl... That's where we are staying..how amazing is that....

cornergran Thu 20-Feb-25 07:38:14

Good to see you blossoming. A hug heading your way from me.

Pleased you’ve arrived safely*ladylfl*. Hope the jet lag passes quickly.

Thinking of the soops. The on line consultation would save you a heck of a journey. A physio set one up for me back in covid days, much to my surprise it worked really well. All I had to do was click on the link she sent me. Hope it all works out for you both.

Thinking two wheels, I was never confident on a bike although I did try as a way of keeping up with two sons who zoomed around on cycle paths. My last outing saw me falling off into some nettles! I do have an unvoiced desire for a trike, it won’t happen (nowhere to store one) but they look such fun - and safe. We’ve miles of paths around us and along the river, I’d love to be able to explore further than I can on my feet.

Take care everyone.

Hello 👋 Blossoming 🌸, lovely to see you! Sorry to hear that your health isn't good just now, hoping and praying that there's some improvement for you on the horizon. Thinking of you and MrB. 💕🙏

My AC bought me a pretty bike whcn I retired, white with pink flowers and a wicker basket. I'd never had a bike, so I took some lessons from a lovely lady who started me off on an adult balance bike. Sad to say, I was not a confident cyclist, only cycled close to home, never on a main road, fell off and gave up. My bike is still in the garage.

Best wishes to all in the quiet corner. TOYA

Grannmarie Thu 20-Feb-25 10:47:06

Glad you've arrived safely, Ladyleftfieldlover. Have a wonderful family reunion.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Feb-25 10:56:07

Redcar I am off to Centre Paris with all the children and grandchildren over Easter.

It’s possible to hire three wheeler bikes and light weight wheelchairs at all of their locations, why don’t you go on to the website and have a look. You will need the booking reference to reserve one.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Feb-25 10:56:48

Centre Parcs not Centre Paris 🤷‍♀️🤬

Jaxjacky Thu 20-Feb-25 11:35:36

I’m so very pleased to hear from you Blossoming but sorry you’re struggling, my best wishes to you both.

Redcar Thu 20-Feb-25 12:26:39

gg13 thank you for the information, I know I could hire a mobility scooter, but I don’t really want one of those. I’ll have a look at the website. We’re going the weekend before Easter. It’s 6 years since I last went, but the family have been since then, not always to the same one. I walked a bit further this morning, getting into training already!

gillgran Thu 20-Feb-25 15:58:33

Redcar, I was about to respond to your post regarding your mobility at Centre Parks, when I saw that GrannyGravy had the answer.
Our DD & family have been a few times with her in-laws. They have hired various bikes, including trikes for both children & adults.
(Our DD was never a "natural" cyclist, but for several years now, has done the school run on a cargo bike in Cambridge!)

We are lucky, (albeit weary!), to have DD & children with us during half-term.
It's my birthday today, how these years have flown, if I make it to next year I will be 80..!!

Warm thoughts for you all in soop's lovely friendly kitchen. x

brook2704 Thu 20-Feb-25 17:41:12

A very Happy Birthday gillgran I hope you’re enjoying your very special day! 🎂🥂💐
I think most of the school runs in Cambridge are mostly done on bikes of one sort or another, my DD1 is the same!

Your bike sounds lovely grannmarie, even though it’s only in the garage - cycling isnt for everyone though especially when there’s busy roads. But I can just imagine the wicker basket being full of beautiful flowers and it being a focal point in the garden

Lovely to see you Blossoming but like Jax says so sorry to hear about your struggles, especially your eyesight which must impact on everything, take care

It’s warmed up here but it’s been very wet and windy so I couldn’t get outside in the garden much, just a quick half hour this morning Then this afternoon I’ve had an online volunteering session, it was quite interesting with 4th year medical students just about to start a GP placement.

I love a family centreparcs holiday, it’s been a while but now you’ve got me thinking !

Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, gentle hugs ❤️

Yiayia4 Thu 20-Feb-25 18:10:28

It’s really nice to hear from you Blossoming but sorry your not so well.Sending healing thoughts.💐

Just got home. The golf range is under cover but it was very chilly.Youngest GS stole the show.He beat them all, even Grandad.🤣We then went to Nando’s and now they’ve gone home happy.

Grannmarie Thu 20-Feb-25 18:13:15

Many happy returns, Gillgran, have a wonderful birthday! 🎂 🥳

Redcar, you're working really well on your mobility, I'm sure you'll be well fit for your family holiday. Great idea 💡 from GG.

brook, thank you, you've got me thinking. My bike could make a pretty feature in the garden... 🚲 🌸

My sister is hosting a tea party tomorrow to thank her neighbours for their patience whilst she had the builders in recently. So I popped round to lend her my Doulton tea set, crystal sugar and cream, three tiered cake stand ( which was a wedding gift), all wrapped up in towels.... just got me wondering how many people don't keep such items anymore?

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

Grannmarie Thu 20-Feb-25 18:15:16

Crossed posts, YiaYia, sounds like a good day out. Put your feet up now, it's almost wine o'clock!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Feb-25 18:26:10

Happy Birthday gillgran 🎂🍾

Another day busy doing nothing other than upping more scores on sudoku, patience along with reading and online jigsaws.

‘Evening All’.

Many happy returns of the day gillgran!
And 👋 to you Blossoming. I’m saddened to hear you are struggling health wise. This is what we feared by your absence. 🤞you get some sustained improvement this springtime. We’ve all missed you very much.

Our date night was fantastic. The Irish themed pub was brilliant! A rough head count was 100+ people, a great addition to the Urmston vibe. It’s a listed building. 1857. I think we’ll avoid it mid March on St Patrick’s Day - it will be even more rammed! 😂 ☘️. We were lucky to get seats at a small table in a corner as another couple left. Backs to the wall gave us a great people watching vantage!
