As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.
Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.
A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.
I would really love some roast beef 😋
There is a lot of sad news on here ,I hav,nt posted much lately it's been very quiet here . We have lots of family birthdays this month .Sending best wishes to all.
I’m in bits. My mum has always been independent and active. I noticed her limping in January and finally persuaded her to see a private consultant, she’s 82. I also noticed her not eating much, I’ve posted on here before about that. 10 days ago she messaged my sister to say she had been sick overnight. My sister went in and found her semi conscious covered in her own vomit and poo. I told her to call an ambulance who took her to hospital. She had some tests and discovered tumours in her kidney, liver, lungs, spine and possibly brain. A week ago she had a stroke. Since last Wednesday she’s been in end of life care. I’m not ready to say good bye yet. I had a meltdown the other day as I had something to eat and mum isn’t being given anything. The consultant who we saw said, I’m afraid she’s going to die. She’s in hospital as they say she’s too poorly to move to a hospice. I live 2 and a half hours away and have come back for a few days as I need more medication and clothes. I’m so emotional that she’s now alone. We find comfort in knowing that we think she wanted us to not go through a long illness or dementia. I cry all the time and can’t think of a life without her. Thanks for listening. X
Mattsmum so sorry to hear such sad news about your mum, sending hugs x
I’m pleased you’re getting more mobile again GG, but don’t do too much too quickly!
iutbb well done for getting on your mobility scooter again, even if you had to replace the battery. Hopefully you’ll be able to use it more once the weather stays warm.
I’ve been eating hot cross buns for a few weeks, but I buy the mini ones, I kid myself they’re not as bad for me!
Did a little more gardening, starting on the lawn edges, now the lawn has been cut. I haven’t started planting seeds yet, I have to start them off on the window ledges, and they soon get leggy, so I start them a bit later when they don’t have to spend so long indoors. I’m growing tomatoes again and hopefully will have more success this year than I did last year.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone. Night night.
mattsmum, I’ve just read your post and I’m so sorry to hear the news about your mum. It must have been a horrible shock for you and your sister. Thinking of you and sending hugs.
How sad for you Mattsmum you’re right to find some comfort in her wishes and she’s in the right place, take care of you too.
Oh Mattsmum that’s very sad to read. x
Mattsmum, so sorry to read about your mum.
I`m not ignoring everyone else, I haven`t been very well over the last few days, so haven`t really caught up.

The cocktail making sounded fun Granmarie you can’t beat a decent Margarita 🍹
Pic of DGS1 on his recent ski trip lucky boy.
Hello kitchen people. I’m sorry that so many of us are having difficult times.🌹
After last night’s jet-lag ridden bedtime, I’ve spent most of the day lying on the sofa with a cat or two and reading a book. I managed to go to Waitrose this morning, but felt shattered in my return.
I was supposed to be going to a Study Day on Women artists tomorrow at the V&A. Fortunately I’ve changed to the on-line version. I’d forgotten how awful jet lag can be. The last time I flew to Australia was 18 months ago - for the wedding of the niece who is expecting a daughter imminently!
Have a good evening.
Hi kitchen pals, a wet chilly day up here in Inverness
I did a class at the gym this morning and then went into the volunteering centre this afternoon for a coffee and a catch up, it was good to see everyone. Then a trip to Aldi where we bought some hot cross buns, thanks for the recommendation grandmabatty
We’ve booked flights and accommodation now for the end of April to attend the memorial service for my sister in law in Mexico. Not a trip to look forward to but I’m pleased that we’re able to go and support my brother as he’s on his own there with no close family.
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better uttb
So sorry to hear about your DiL not being able to drive Yia, it must be difficult for her. A lovely picture of your DGS, my DS loves skiing too but it’s not for me
Travelling always makes me tired llfl even without jet lag, I hope you’re back to normal soon
Thinking of all in the quiet corner x
Good evening Kitcheners. Brook you are welcome. I really enjoy these hot cross buns. It's been a cold and windy day here in central Scotland. I did a couple of hours work in the school library then home to rest after a particularly bad night sleep. The boys have been good today. We managed to play in the garden for a little while before dgs1 was picked up by his dad to go to football training. I have a little touch of sciatica so I have a hot water bottle at my back and I'm lying on the couch watching a black and white film. I think I'll have an early night. Take care all
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Welcome home, FGTs and Ladyleftfieldlover .
I haven't seen mini hot cross buns, Redcar, I must look out for them.
Super photo of your DGS, YiaYia, what a wonderful experience for him.
Utbb, glad to hear you've been out on your mobility scooter, it gives you some independence. DH will be charging his earlier this week as we have a wee coastal/ theatre overnight before our usual Friday school pick up of the Wee Boy.
Brook, I'm glad that you and your DH can travel to Mexico to support your dear brother. He'll appreciate that very much,
I'm sure. Such a sad time for him and your family. Thinking of you all.
Sorry to hear about your sciatica, Grandmabatty, I hope you get a better sleep tonight.
Good luck with your quiz tonight, Jaxjacky. 🤞
I visited my childhood friend in hospital today, she became ill with a severe headache and confusion at the weekend. She is in the Stroke Unit although they haven't given her family a diagnosis yet, she's having tests, MRI and CT scans. Such a shock, it's only a few weeks since we had a great afternoon tea, putting the world to rights. She's a very active person, involved with family, church, helping her frail neighbour, it's such a shame to see her incapacitated. Hoping and praying for her speedy and complete recovery. 🙏🕯
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.
llfl I hope the jet lag eases soon. brooke well done for booking your flights etc to Mexico, I’m sure your brother will be pleased to have your support.
grannmarie, sorry to hear about your friend, I do hope there’s a diagnosis soon and that treatment can begin.
I walked round my village this morning using the rollator,it’s the furthest I’ve walked since before my hip operation last November. A friend came in for coffee after she’d visited our friend with dementia.
My friendly car mechanic collected my car this evening, it’s being serviced and MOT’d tomorrow. I hope there aren’t any major problems. I noticed yesterday that the plastic housing round one of the wing mirrors is cracked. The mirror seems fine, but will need to be checked to ensure it can’t fall out of the casing.
Have a peaceful evening, thoughts with those suffering illness, or with anxieties. Night night.
Grannmarie I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I wish a speedy and full recovery for her.
Mattsmum I feel so sad for you and your family. This is such a difficult time for you. Bless your Mum.
Grannmarie I sympathise with your concern for your dear friend. I have a friend of over fifty years who is terminally ill. A gentle arm around your shoulder.
Afternoon all, smashing picture Yia I feel for your DiL, Imogen can’t even start learning to drive until she has had the clear year.
Sad to hear of your close friend Grannmarie I too wish a speedy and successful treatment for her.
Fingers crossed for your car Redcar (is your car red?)! And to both you and utbb getting out and about.
A poignant trip for you both brook your brother will I'm sure be delighted to see you both and grateful for your support.
It’s a chill wind out today, I’ve just collected some free Crocosmia, now planning where to put the little spreaders.
We nearly made third in quiz, but were two ‘men’ down, that’s my excuse, it was, as usual, fun, Imogen is now working behind the bar in the evening. It really pushed her out of her autistic comfort zones, but she’s now loving it, ‘I love pouring the Guinness perfectly’ I’ll have to get her trained up to draw pictures in the head!
Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s a cold day up here with a chilly wind
I’m just home from my volunteering session so putting my feet up before making dinner. I called into DD2s with a bit of shopping and came away with a bag full of washing 🙄 I don’t really mind though as I’m happy to help out although she does push it a bit sometimes!
So sad about your friend grannmarie I hope she gets some treatment soon and makes a good recovery
Sounds like Imogen is good with the Guinness Jax, not being a Guinness drinker I didn’t realise you could draw pictures on the head, I’ve only seen that on coffees
Hope your car got it’s service & mot sorted ok redcar
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, sending hugs ❤️
Grannmarie I hope your friend is comfortable and has a diagnosis soon.
FGT hopefully you have had a more settled day today 😘
I have had a pottering day interspersed with resting my legs. The fridge had some interesting contents, do not think DH had looked at any dates or the freshness of the veggies/salad.
Sorry to hear of your friend Grannmarie, hopefully she will get some answers soon.
Hope all is well FGT.
I love hot cross buns.We get them from the local bakery quite expensive but oh so good.Dentist appointment tomorrow not looking forward to it but will be brave.🤣
Calf’s liver for dinner with crispy bacon.
