As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

I have a nice clean house (cleaning fairies have been), taken some returns to M & S FoodHall, couldn’t resist buying their rotisserie chicken meal deal as a treat for DD.

Popped into the local farm shop for veggies and fruit.

Home made fish and chips for dinner later.

Hope you can pick up your DH llfl

Good afternoon kitchen pals, we’ve briefly seen the sun today but it’s still very cold 🥶
I did the Strong Nation class at the gym earlier, it was ok 😕 not really enjoyable but I’m trying to build up / maintain my upper body strength, use it or lose it so to say! Then a coffee in the local garden centre, a trip to DD2s to drop off her washing and then a trip to Tesco.
I hope your DH has been able to get home today llfl and everything has gone well
Mmmm Fish & Chips GG13, delicious
Thinking of those in the quiet corner, sending hugs x

A mix of weather today cold, showers and now a very black sky.Can tell when it’s going to rain by my bones🤣
Had my hair done today colour, highlights cut and blow dry.Always gives me a lift.
DH is uncomfortable with his prostate at the moment, hope he gets his operation soon.Hopefully we can then enjoy the summer.

Lemon chicken tonight.
Thinking of you all have a good evening.

Good evening Kitcheners. Lazy Lou has gone. I hoovered throughout, emptied and loaded the dishwasher and sorted out the washing. This morning I had a haircut and, yet again, my lovely hairdresser gave me a free bottle of shampoo. This afternoon I worked in the school library for two hours then I joined dgs1 and dd in the hall for a Stem event. The classes were having a wonderful time. Once home, I made chorizo and chickpea paella and have enough for tomorrow. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Mar-25 18:41:47

Hi all, my hairdresser recommended a shampoo Grandmabatty she said ‘wear gloves’ 🙄
Still cold here, I did my stretch class at home, I had to take Imogen to college, she overslept, tbh I’m pleased she’s being a teenager.
I’ve started doing kitchen worktop exercises brook waiting for dinner or boiling a kettle as recommended by my stretch teacher.
Went for a walk sharpish, washed floors and did some online admin, I need to revisit our POA’s - a job I'm putting off.
Chicken in mushrooms and cream, veg and new potatoes for dinner.

Nannytopsy Thu 13-Mar-25 18:45:27

You sound back to normal grandmabatty.
We had a flying visit to DD in Kent to look after DGS and DGD for a few hours yesterday. The littlies were in good form. DGS has learned how to twang Grandad’s braces! We came home this afternoon, through horrible, heavy, sleety showers but I think they have cleared now. It’s still pretty cold though.
Shopping needed tomorrow I think!
Hope you and yours have a good night xx

‘Evening All’.

Brr! Nippy doesn’t come close does it?

We went to the Post Office this morning to get our passports renewed and a very helpful lady did the honours. Had to laugh, she asked Himself to stand with his back against a white wall. ‘Click’ photo done & was deemed as acceptable. When I was my turn, I took off my spex and I kid you not - 8 attempts before it was passed! 🤣 (and I looked bluddy awful too!). Oh well., does it matter. I just would love it if they arrive by Saturday!

What a lovely thing to say!

LLFL I hope you are at home with your husband now and all’s well.

Yia let’s hope you’ve not long to wait. It’s hard seeing someone we love ‘not themself’.

Right, I’m off to watch ‘Adolescence’ on Netflix. I have tissues to hand.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 13-Mar-25 19:43:30

Hello kitchen people.

Well, I picked OH up from the hospital this afternoon and he seems very happy! The operation went well and he is in no pain or discomfort. He had a couple of scans and things seem to be ok. He will see the surgeon in a few weeks to check all is well.

I did more WI admin today and finalised my report. I simply have to print it off and read it out next Wednesdaysad

I cooked toad in the hole for dinner. We might have a martini in a minute!

Have a good evening everyone, especially those who are feeling a bit low.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 13-Mar-25 19:59:15

So pleased you H is home and well LLFL one more thing got over.
I won’t join you in a martini thank you even though you didn’t ask.I had my Wednesday friend yesterday afternoon, she is getting very hard work.
Apart from her increasing deafness she is saying odd things and getting forgetful.
I really do dread Wednesday afternoon.

I decided that I would treat myself to an Espresso martini so while I was making our coffee I made a small espresso and put it in the fridge.
After my meal I set too, following the recipe online from Good Food.
Halfway through I checked and realised it was for 2.
I just couldn’t throw it away could I?
I had to force myself to suffer two and were they good?
I cannot have a drink now until Saturday.
Forgive me for being lighthearted when some of you are not in a good place but my most sincere thought are with you.
I have been there and done that.

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Mar-25 20:02:35

My favourite utbb you should’ve shouted me, I’d have helped!
Good news llfl 👍

Grandmabatty Thu 13-Mar-25 20:04:01

I'm very partial to an espresso martini!

Redcar Thu 13-Mar-25 20:35:21

llfl I’m pleased your DH’s operation went smoothly and that he’s home again and not in pain,
yiayia I hope your DH doesn’t have to wait too long for his operation.
fgt I hope your passports come through quickly.
I’ve had a quiet day, I decided it was too cold to go for a walk, so did some more boring housework instead, plus my usual exercises! Tidied the lounge a bit, it looks better. I still have several boxes of toys in both the lounge and dining room but as the grandchildren don’t visit as much now, I think I shall put the toys in one of the spare rooms and just bring them out when the grandchildren visit.
Have a peaceful evening everyone, a full moon tonight ( or in the early hours) i don’t think I’ll get up to see the lunar eclipse!

Usedtobeblonde Thu 13-Mar-25 20:38:02

It was 100mls of Vodka and 50 of Kahlua and I didn’t even sleep well!,

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Mar-25 21:35:17

Good job I wasn’t making them utbb I wouldn’t measure, just splash!

brook2704 Thu 13-Mar-25 21:39:56

Count me in for any espresso martinis on offer please!

Nannytopsy Fri 14-Mar-25 09:13:38

I like an espresso martini but my Friday night treat is a Manhattan, with real maraschino cherries. 😋
We have had a lazy morning (DH still snoring gently) but as it’s such a lovely day I hope to get some gardening done.

‘Evening All’.

A very empty kitchen this Friday. 👋 to those who still sit in the quiet corner I hope your troubles are lighter. We’ve had another good day and ate our main meal early. Gammon and new potatoes with veg which Himself enjoyed, eating steadily. We are off soon to our neighbours for drinks when he returns from watching the Boy Wonder at his ⚽️ skills session. I don’t know how enjoys it more to be honest.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Mar-25 17:51:21

Oh Dixon how could I forget you?

brook2704 Fri 14-Mar-25 19:41:01

Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok, it’s quiet in the kitchen tonight
I’ve enjoyed today, a coffee with my pal this morning, a quick trip to DD2s to help with a few jobs and then gardening at home in the sunshine this afternoon. Simple pleasures but I’m happy with that
I’ve been trying to find an outfit to wear to a 60th party tomorrow evening, I really wanted a dress but they all seemed too short or too long so I’ve settled on some new wide leg trousers and a dressy top. I’m looking forward to it but I’ll be limiting my drinks, this group of ladies know how to party but these days I can’t keep up🥴
I think DD2 might eventually have got a buyer for her house - I don’t want to be too optimistic yet but it’s looking hopeful so will see
Hoping everyone enjoys their evening and hugs to all in the quiet corner x

Nannytopsy Fri 14-Mar-25 19:54:11

🤞Brook !
I was just finishing getting dressed when someone arrived for a meeting I has completely forgotten. I think I got away with it ! grin
Then we shopped, ate a packet of hot cross buns and did PCC admin. DH is about to cook fish and chips.
Maybe tomorrow I will get to the garden?
Love to you all

Jaxjacky Fri 14-Mar-25 20:05:53

Hi all, we had pork steaks in bbq sauce FGT after the pub. MrJ is on day 11 of alcohol free, I think St Patrick’s Day may bring that effort to a screeching halt. I’ve had no wine in support, weak lager shandy is my contribution.
A chilly day again, upstairs cleaned, a brisk walk, checking online orders, then I watched some 🐎
I’ve decided low or alcohol free drinks should be significantly cheaper 🙂

cornergran Fri 14-Mar-25 20:07:01

Hello everyone. Had tea and cake with our elder granddaughter yesterday, she reached 19. Not sure how that happened. Later she’s jetting off to Australia for four and a half months. We’ll miss her for sure, I’m not anxious about her, she’s sensible and well prepared - or not anxious yet!

Decent day here, a little grocery shopping before sorting a couple of nights away in a few weeks. Just a quiet, country spot to chill a bit.

Snap friedgt. Same thing happened with my passport photo last week. I was thankful a professional was at the business end of the camera, I can imagine the edginess if we’d tried to do it here. As there was no urgency, ours will be used for ID, we used the on line route. The renewals are apparently accepted, just waiting receipt of our old passports which were collected on Monday, it seems they haven’t got there yet. Worried? Me? Indeed! I guess if they don’t turn up there will be a way around it, hope so as we’ve paid for the new ones.

The medical stuff rolls on here. I’ve a session with an occupational therapist next week to look at support for my failing hands and with a physio the week after to try to find out what’s happened to my shoulder. As long as I don’t lift my arm it’s fine - it’s a bit inconvenient as well as ouchie although I’m discovering interesting ways of getting dressed 😂. You never know it may be fine by the time the appointment comes 🤞

We’re off over the bridge tomorrow primarily to tend Mr C’s parents grave. We’ll wander a National Trust property and have some lunch on the way there, stop for a cuppa on the way back. Our friend has a better offer tomorrow so we’ve filled the day.

Your outfit sounds just right brook, smart and comfortable. Sounds a fun evening ahead.

Wishing you all a good evening. It’s feet up here, a chilled glass of white later and possibly some chocolate. No wonder the trousers are getting snug h😀

Hello everyone,

I had an interesting Study Day on Georgian Food - lectures on eating at home, eating out and the Georgian kitchen. We also had a delicious lunch.

OH still seems to be recovering well. He is looking forward to getting back to his beekeeping and target shooting next week.

I remember when my sister went out to Australia the first time . She was 23 and initially went out for six months, staying with my brother and his (first) wife. She had a wonderful time and on her third day met a friend of my brother and his wife and fell in love!

Have a good evening.

brook2704 Fri 14-Mar-25 21:56:57

What an adventure for your DGD corner, I hope all goes well for her and she has an amazing time!

cornergran Fri 14-Mar-25 23:39:11

Thank you brook. She has filled the first half with supported activities and volunteering. Then it’s free flowing. Her boyfriend has gone too, a late addition, we’re wondering if they will still be speaking when they return! They will meet a couple of friends at the first activity, not sure after that. She’ll only be back a month before setting of to University. We’re very proud of the work she has done as a community carer to fund her travels, it is such an amazing opportunity.

We’re also sort of hoping in view of her travelling companion that doesn’t happen ladylfl 😂.

Time I was asleep. I’ve been tracking their plane, last spotted over Germany. Maybe I am fooling myself saying I’m not anxious 🤔

Goodnight everyone.
