As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.
Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.
A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.
Cancer sucksas our teen GC say 🤬
You are so brave soop 💐,
and SueDonim and FGT
Chronic illness really is a heavy burden to bear.
I hope everyone finds some peace and joy this weekend 🌈
Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a pleasant day. Breakfast with a friend where we chatted for two hours. Then I had a quick trip to the library to pick up a book I had ordered and to order the latest Mary Beard book on Rome. Then home to do a little tidying, some reading and a nap. I've messaged lots of friends and we have organised a lunch next week and another group have organised the cinema next Saturday. All good. Dinner was a ready made Thai curry finished off the crackers and brie. I'm now watching seriously cheesy black and white horror films and I foresee an early night. Enjoy your evening all
Hugs for everyone managing the challenges of poor health. Love to you all.
Very difficult SueD 🌹
Saturday, so newspaper read thoroughly, a brisk walk on a chilly dull day.
MrJ is happy with the rugby result, I sulked!
Grandchildren are here for the night, I bought them a memory game each, didn’t realise they make a noise - oops.
‘Evening All”.
Babysitting at present. L’il Miss is bathed with a birthday ‘Lush’ bath bomb which fizzed amazingly in the water much to her delight! Clean pj’s on sat next to grandad on the sofa with her Saturday night treats. Shouldn’t all children be so fortunate - happy, well fed, clean and loved. I wish. x
The Boy Wonder is in the shower. He hoovered up his curry and rice dinner at the breakfast bar. Almost 13y and can’t boys eat! Hollow legs come to mind. He’s allowed an hour or so now on his PlayStation (mates go on too and they use these headphones with a microphone for chatting). Friendship groups but not as we know them Jim.
I’ve given my head a wobble. Life is good for now. We are more fortunate than some and I ought not to think about future worries but enjoy these good days. I know this but occasionally what we live with sideswipes me. Thank you all for your kindness and positivity. Your messages were very much appreciated when I felt upset. You are all such good souls. Soop your kitchen is a credit to you and all who call in.
x
Yes cancer does suckas GG. It seems that quite a few of us are going through this with our loved ones,Its always there. We had a very good result on the 3 month checks but it’s always a worry for the next time.I feel for you all going through this.
Anyway enough of that it’s Saturday and I have a nice rather large glass of Provence Rose.We are going to France next week and looking forward to some nice french food and bringing back some goodies.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
Hello kitchen people.
I took granddaughter to the V&A today, which she enjoyed. I think we were there for well over three hours - she is getting to love the place as much as I do. She enjoyed lunch in the Members Room.
I didn’t think she would want much dinner but asked for sausages, pasta and peas. She must be going through a growth spurt. She is skinny but tall. As she has a birthday party tomorrow, after I’ve dropped her off I’ll pop down to Kew Gardens. I might (ok I will!) pop in the shop.
Have a good evening.
Hello everyone. Cold here today and a cloudy morning, but I was determined to go out for a walk. I wrapped up well and walked (on my crutches)/to the post box a few hundred yards away, only to find it shrink wrapped in black plastic and clearly unusable! I wasn’t happy as the next post box is too far away for me to get to at the moment. I made some soup when I got home, enough for several lunches.
We used to be members of several of the London museums llfl including the V&A, and I enjoyed some of the special exhibitions there. My DH wasn’t so keen on the V&A though. Enjoy the shop at Kew Gardens!
Have a peaceful evening everyone, night night.
It’s another cold evening and for some reason our heating had gone off downstairs. No wonder I am freezing! We had dinner with DS and family and are both so full, despite having small portions. It was a very good curry too. We can’t eat like we used to I am afraid.
I hope your power lines are safe soop 🤞
Nannytopsy, the gale blew itself out. At one point, the lights flickered. I thought, oh heck!
The sun is shining. The sea is calm. We continue to count our blessings.
I have been speaking on the telephone to my oldest friend of fifty plus years. She was recently diagnosed with Mesothelioma Cancer. There is no cure. Yet she remains upbeat. Her hair has fallen out. She is to have a wig. Her spine is crumbling. She has several growths on her legs which need to be removed. And yet, her calm spirit continues to inspire. This cancer is caused by exposure to asbestos. She has no recollection of being anywhere near to such a hazard.
Mr Soop is dozing. Later we shall have a game of Scrabble. I am about to ride the exercise bike to no place in particular. Thirty minutes of Frank Sinatra will accompany my ride.
My love to you all.
We have lost 3 colleagues to mesothelioma, all teachers. I fear for cases in our pupils in the future.
So sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis soop I wish her all the best for the future, she sounds like a very brave lady x
Good afternoon all.
I am very tired having had someone here most of the weekend putting the floor down in that “ new room” also putting blinds up and generally finishing bits off.
One again the rest of downstairs is cluttered up with bits and pieces of the contents, most of which will eventually be replaced but contrary to what my GD believes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither was the expense of it all magically found.
The new sofa and one chair arrive tomorrow
Once again best wishes to all those of you uwell or in a caring role.
Cancer really does suck, I myself am a long term survivor but lost my father and H to it so feel highly qualified to say that
With that in mind my GD and her boyfriend along with many of their friends are in training for a run later in the summer for Christie where the father of one of their friends is currently being treated for prostate cancer and on other one for Leukaemia.
I have foolishly decided to do roast beef so although I prepared everything this morning I still have to put it all together so must start working out my timings.
Not an easy task any more.
Have the best evening you can .
‘Evening All’.
We had a splendid time with my stepfather today. We found plenty to chat about. It’s so nice we get together every Sunday. A good meal and we were on our way home just before the Man. Utd ground emptied. Himself says they lost. But then was cheered because Man City lost to Arsenal. 🤣 He’s also been watching some of the 6 Nations rugby. All in all, a good day. I’m more than grateful.
Hello everyone. A stressful day for me, woken up at 6.45 by the smoke detectors screaming! No apparent reason and managed to quieten them, only for them to go off at frequent intervals for some hours. Eventually I couldn’t turn them off, then DD2 and family arrived, at the same time as my next door neighbour. Between them they checked all three detectors and dismantled the offending device. I’ll get my electrician out to replace it and check why the alarms didn’t stop when turned off at the mains. In the meantime I’d damp dusted all surfaces in the hall, up the stairs & landing, cleaned the radiator & vacuumed the hall! I’m still recovering. DD1 arrived this afternoon & decided I need a new car because my Fiesta is too low apparently. I’ve had it twelve years & it’s got very low mileage for its age, and I don’t really want to replace it. Better the devil you know…..
Hope tomorrow will be a better day!
Have a peaceful evening everyone, thoughts are with those who are anxious, poorly or waiting for results of tests.
Hello kitchen people.
After I dropped granddaughter off at a friend’s house so they could go to another friend’s birthday party, I had a wander around the Kew Sunday Market. I bought fudge! I popped into a cafe and had coffee and croissant, but I wished I’d had a full English breakfast too, which looked delicious.
I was hoping to pop into the Kew Gardens Shop but granddaughter was worn out after her party so she watched television and played games on my iPad. Elder son and his partner should be back from Scotland around 9 pm.
I’m looking forward to going home tomorrow. OH has had a difficult time with his urological problem. It’s a good thing he managed to get a hospital appointment privately for Friday.
Have a good evening.
We had a surprise visit from our darling godson and his fiancé this afternoon, the time flew by.
DD and her boys arrived and it was joyous to see the grown ups that they are revert to the same old ways of their shared childhood (the GC were amazed at the stories of mum’s antics as a child)
Nightie night dear kitchen friends 🙋♀️
Greetings from a murky Kintyre. Two engineers are working to repair the television disc that was put out of action during the hurricane.
I haven't any special news to share with you lovely lot. But, as always, I send every one of our Granspals my very best wishes.

Afternoon, the sun has come out after grey and drizzle.
Son and fiancée announced yesterday wedding will probably be in August, a small occasion, registry office, then marquee in our local that she manages, much excitement!
A busy morning on the voluntary phone, washing mach8ne just finished, pub quiz later.
Your friend is very stoic soop 🌹
Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Glad to hear that you and Mr Soop are getting back to your comforting,
normal routine. I'm a great believer in gratitude for small pleasures.
Your dear friend is an amazing lady, what a positive person.
Nannytopsy, that is very worrying. Asbestos is being discovered in so many of our schools and public buildings.
Congratulations to the happy couple, Jaxjacky, what a special event to look forward to!
Sounds like a great family afternoon, GG.
Safe journey home after your busy weekend with your DGD, Ladyleftfieldlover. How are you enjoying your new car? I hope your OH can be helped very soon.
Redcar, I hope you're having a more restful day after all your drama! Your Fiesta sounds like my Jazz, similar age/ mileage. My family wants me to trade it in, but I love my wee car!🚗
UsedToBeBlonde, I hope you enjoyed your roast dinner. I agree that these things seem to take much more effort nowadays. Your new room seems to be progressing well, I hope it gives you much comfort and joy on completion.
Grandmabatty, good to hear that your Mum is a bit brighter and her cough is not so bad. Hope your new routine is going well for you.
YiaYia, great to hear that your DH has had good results. Enjoy your well deserved holiday in France, Bon Voyage! 🇫🇷
I'm thinking of all who are worried about their loved ones, hoping Blossoming and Dustyangel are doing OK.
Enjoy Malaga, brook and Mrbrook, please bring back some sunshine ☀... I think we've got more snow to come, just when my bulbs are making an effort...
We've had a busy weekend, meeting up with my siblings to commemorate our dear brother's anniversary, then our family gathering to celebrate 🎉 the February birthdays ( four this week). Great to see everyone, the Wee Boy loves seeing his big cousins and Grandpup. He ended up under the table with her, feeding her cocktail sausages from the buffet...
I'm very thankful that I've seen all my siblings, children and grandchildren over the weekend. 💕🙏
A quieter day today, I had my ears irrigated at the surgery, so now I can go ahead with my hearing test at Specsavers. 🤞
I have filled one bag for the charity shop, I'm hoping it's my 'starter for ten', I really need to do a big declutter!
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday, TOYA.
Such happy news Jaxjacky t is ages since I went to a wedding although I believe I can expect an invitation to one in Feb next year.
My GC are not interested just now although one GS has a year old daughter .
I have not been well recently, age is really catching up with me.
I cooked a good Sunday roast yesterday but didn’t want it when it was ready.
My new furniture came this morning and I can muster no enthusiasm for it at all.
As soon as the delivery team left I came back to bed and I am still here.
It is my friend across the road’s birthday today and although I have sent greetings , I haven’t popped across as I would normally do
I took her out for a meal on Friday evening which was my gift.
She really does have everything and more.
Kindest wishes to you all.
Hello kitchen people. I’m sorry you’re down in the dumps UTBB.
It’s good to be home, particularly as our cleaner was just finishing off as I bc walked through the front door.
Yes, I enjoyed my new car. One or two tiny annoyances. It beeps if I go over the speed limit and every half an hour a shiny gold cup of coffee appears with the message that I might need a break!
OH has a private appointment on Friday. Then this morning he had a call from the NHS hospital with a date at the end of February. He had been told he would have to wait at least 6 months. Anyway, he couldn’t take the date offered as I will be in Australia so has been given a date just after I get back. Unbelievable!
Thank you Grannmarie. Sounds like you had a lovely family weekend.
Here we are in France the sun is shining and we have a hotel on the beach in Le Touquet. So nice to be away from appointments for a while.
Thinking of you all.
UsedToBeBlonde, 💐, hoping you feel a wee bit brighter soon.
