Good Morning Thursday 30th January 2025
(52 Posts)Good morning from a cool Bristol. It’s dry and we are promised some sunshine! I might change my bed, or I may not…
*MD’, I am sorry to hear that you’re feeling so unwell ATM; also about your DS. Prayers winging over to you both.
We had a very successful FAB cafe with about 17 attendees. One of the helpers suggested she had “ordered” cranberry biscuits. I laughed and told her she was imagining it, she has since put in her order for next time. I retorted that I baked what I felt like when I wanted…. 😂
I was pleased to see my upstairs neighbour pop in. She bought a pot of marmalade then told me it was delicious! She knew one of a regular attendees - people have to be kind and patient with her as she’s done everything, knows everything, etc., and holds forth. A wearing person, poor thing.
A quiet afternoon starting my new quilt. I’m waiting for a little more fabric. It was to be only two colours/fabrics but with my idiotic mistake then running out of it, it’s now got 4 different ones in toning shades.
I’ve got the chiropodist visiting first thing, then my tai chi class and finally, going to DD’s for dinner this evening. Probably a complicated meal as it’s SiL’s first week off since he resigned…. He loves cooking.
Good morning Mick and grandMattie from a dry and dark north Wales where the Yorkshire Gold is flowing (I’m down to my last box and wonder whether I ought to start panicking…🤨)
We had a lovely surprise yesterday…a midweek break to Marrakesh on Monday with DD and SIL! Their friends are unable to go so we’re taking their places with a name change the only hassle! A bit of winter 🌞 now that orrible January has done its worst🤗
Haven’t read yesterday’s thread yet so will settle in for a long sesh ☕️ - I’ll be back!
Good morning from a feeling much betty granny on the east coast of Fife. I’ve had the best sleep ever after a couple of bouts of the Noro virus.
I’ve a busy morning the laundry is being picked up today, I’m having a little food delivery so that I can have an egg roll for breakfast my favourite type of breakfast with tea of course. It feels great to be rid of the upset stomach , the house will no longer be a Chinese laundry hip hip hooray.
Have a good day my friends thinking of those not so fortunate 💐💐
Good morning from Malta where yesterday we had our first decent amount of rain this year. It looks gloomy at the moment but is supposed to be fine with a high of 16°C.
Despite feeling rubbish yesterday, I took littlest for a walk to the swings as he’d been cooped up since Saturday. The fresh air did him good, he was.impressed that we had the park all to ourselves, and was also fascinated by two cars plugged into a charging point.
He’s off back to nursery with his brother today so I am still in bed feeling better now my nose has stopped streaming. How can a common cold make you feel so lousy?
Grandmabatty yes, that’s exactly how I am, no problem falling asleep but then I wake hourly with my brain going over things that happened years ago. I took half a pill last night so actually had 5hours sleep before waking.
Well, my neglected home needs a good clean today so I will get going shortly, although it will be an effort. I’m really feeling my age at the moment.
Hope you are feeling better today Marydoll, it’s so debilitating when you don’t have good health. 💐
Hope a good day is in the cards for you all.☀️
Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire.
Our main excitement today is lunch with DD1 to celebrate her 50th birthday on Sunday and her improving health.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from an icy Midlands. Enjoy your lunch Kitty, so pleased your daughter is improving.
Morning all, still dark, no idea what the weather is doing.
The 9yr old needs waking up for his breakfast and early school start. I have woken up with yet another bad headache, I hope I have taken my meds soon enough to prevent it escalate to a full blown migraine.
Wishing Marydoll a better day health wise 🌸
Enjoy your DD’s birthday lunch kitty 🎂🥂
🙋♀️
Pleased you are feeling better Bonnybanko
Hopefully Bellasnana your cold is in the wain, enjoy a lazy day now your GS is back at nursery.
Good morning from a dry Torbay with sunshine forecast.
DH plans to go out for the day as I need to complete my tax return for the deadline tomorrow! I couldn’t work on it in France because of the internet connection misbehaving. We had a most enjoyable time at Wednesday Club with a good attendance (22) and a well organised quiz with much banter. Our team reached second place with 42/50.
Enjoy whatever you’ve planned for today (another busy one, grandMattie!) and get well wishes to the unwell. As we age, recovery seems slower, Bellasnana, but I’m glad you and your GS are better than you were.
🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning!
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a clear cold South Yorkshire where the sun is to put in an appearance for most of the day. Writers group yesterday was very fruitful, and a good laugh also. We have a new member who seems very keen. New blood is always welcome. DS rang last night to confirm that he will come down on Saturday and spend a good long day with me, with not even a football match to get in the way. How good is that😊?
Walking group this morning so an early start. I think the heated seat in the car will have to be pressed into service. Then lunch with DD before I come home.
Have the best day you can folks.
Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire. I’m looking forward to Spring.
Due to ill health my brother has cancelled his big 70th birthday bash next month. My sister is hoping to arrange a smaller party. Whatever, I’ll be on that plane next month.
I will put petrol in my new car this morning. Maybe not a big deal but I want to be prepared for tomorrow when I drive up to Kew to look after my granddaughter. Elder son and his partner are having a second attempt at driving up to Scotland to look at houses.
It is Book group today. We will talk about any books we had for Christmas and any others we’ve read. It’s a good thing I keep a record as I’ve read so many.
OH managed to get a cancellation for a private consultation next week with a urologist. He is still very uncomfortable after the procedure he had the other day.
Have a good day everyone especially those of you who are having difficulties.
Good morning everyone from Spain, it’s a bit cloudy now but the sun is due to be up soon
Have a lovely trip away with your DD and SiL Pantglas sounds good!
We’re still in Estepona, the apartment we’re renting here is great with everything needed including a washer/dryer so there’s no big pile of holiday laundry. We’ve been alternating between day trips out on the local buses and relaxing days just pottering, all enjoyable. I’m not really one for busy cities these days although we’re moving apartments at the weekend back to Malaga for the last few days of our holidays.
Good luck with the tax return Ash!
Enjoy the special time with your DS on Saturday Greyduster
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from Glasgow where it is 1°C, I have been coughing non stop since 6am and like you Bella, my nose is streaming.
We have the Duracella Bunny today and I also have to get my hospital bloods done. They are only sixth months overdue!
Fortunately, the hospital have arranged for them to be done at the local hub, rather than have to trail al the way to the hospital in Glasgow.
We had the most awful day yesterday. My darling Dollie was A&E after being found unresponsive on her bedroom floor. She had fallen out of bed, but seemed to be OK. Minutes later, her mum heard a thud, went into her room and found her lying on the floor, eyes wide open and not responding.
She spent a long time in A&E, where she was thoroughly checked over. They could not find anything untoward, everything appeared to be normal and she was quite lucid.
I had just come out of the doctors and missed a call from DS. When I tried to call him back, I couldn't get him. I knew something was wrong, because he never calls during working hours. Eventually I got a message, asking to call him right away. I thought it was to do with his recent medical problems. For the first time in months, I had an angina attack. I thought I was going to faint, due to the shock. I am usually so calm in situations like this, but this knocked me for six.
DS had waited until she was discharged, before calling me, because he knew how upset I would be. Of course, I couldn't wait to see she that was OK. I rushed home to get DH, who already knew and we spent the afternoon with her, to allow DS to catch up on business calls, he had to cancel yesterday
morning. DIL had also had to cancel work appointments, so we said we would look after her, in case she became sleepy and needed to return to hospital.
Thankfully, she cannot remember much and she is used to hospital visits, due to her asthma. She told me that she was quite glad, she didn't have to go to school, because they were having a big writing test and someone from the university was coming to see them work.
It then dawned on me that it was a tutor from university, who was coming to monitor a student teacher. When I heard her name, I realised that she was a former pupil of mine. It is indeed a small world!
I must get a move on, the whirling dervish will be here soon and we need to feed her, dress her, get out to the phlebotomy clinic and pick up prescriptions, which needed ordered.
We will park in Asda and put on her reins , in the hope that the walking will tire her out. However, she has a penchant for sit down protests in the middle of the pavement! It is not going to be a restful day.😂
Hugs to all, who are struggling and sad, including Taichinan, and prayers for all, involved in the terrible plane crash. I will read your posts later, once/if BabyD folks asleep*
Have a good day folks.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold, dry and bright again so far today! Yesterday morning was lovely and sunny, but it was a cloudy afternoon. I walked to the pharmacy to collect my meds, and met several friends on the way which was good. Started to clear one of the very cluttered drawers in the chest of drawers in the hall, threw away lots of out of date stuff, will finish it today🤞.
DD2 may call in today, the 2 year old is still too poorly to go to nursery, so will go to her other granny for a while so DD2 can do some work.
Glad your DGS and you are feeling better bellasnana
bonnybanko enjoy your breakfast!
Have a good day everyone, hopefully it’s a sunny one!
Good morning from frosty South Lanarkshire.
Oh Marydoll what an awful, terrifying shock, thank God she is okay.
I’m having a housekeeping day today but will hopefully get out for a longish dog walk.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Gosh MaryD! I hope you have a calmer day today, albeit with a whirling dervish!
Good morning all from the Black country where there is a slight frost on the cars.
Today DH has a dental appointment, I'll have a wander around the shops while he is in the dentist's.
Over the club with friends this evening and a visit to the chip shop on the way home, they like our Black country battered chips.
Pleased you are feeling better Bonnybanko
Enjoy your DD's birthday lunch kitty
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and safe travels those on the move.☀️
Oh my goodness marydoll what an awful shock, poor Dollie, thank goodness she’s ok ❤️
Good morning from a dark but dry Black Country,
Had a lovely day yesterday with my friend. Went to Albert Schloss in Birmingham for lunch. Chicken Schnitzel was very tasty and huge. Could only manage a coffee afterwards.
This morning is my walking group who meet every other Thursday. Trying a new route today.
Gosh Marydoll how upsetting for you all. I hope she is ok now?
Good luck with the Tax Return Ash. I did mine in December and paid 5th January. Had a statement last week, which indicated it was still to be paid! I have a reference number and proof it came out of my bank account.
How entitled that lady was gM to expect cranberry biscuits. I would definitely not make them for next week
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Good morning from s somerset, wall to wall sun today
MD
I will be out all day today, as soon as it warms up a bit. On the plot with nature and in my own world
Have a good day
Good morning from a bright W Kent.
Marydoll so sorry you had such an awful day yesterday, hope your wee one is good for you today.
DH has a visit to the dentist this morning for a filling, I have a pile of ironing to get done before my second cataract procedure tomorrow. So not the most exciting of days. A great deal of walking yesterday resulted in a better nights sleep but I can’t do that every day.
Best wishes to all
Marydoll what a shock for you all thank goodness Dollie is ok 🩷
Morning Mick, morning All. A clear sky over our corner of Somerset, I can see ice on the cars.
A long, enjoyable day yesterday. Not sure about today, hope to get out locally this morning, we saw rather too much of motorways yesterday.
Goodness marydoll, what a shock. Hope today is calmer. It has been a difficult January for many, kind thoughts go to all.
Have the best day you can everyone.
