Is Spring springing? These were radiating golden sunshine on my walk to and from the shops! Always cheer me up!

I love celandines.

Gin Thu 30-Jan-25 13:29:01

Except when they take over my garden! Spread like wildfire.

Barleyfields Thu 30-Jan-25 13:33:17

They do! But disappear underground before summer.

Lovely!!
Spring is my absolute favourite time of year. Any early flowers or birds preparing for nest building, bring it on.
Let’s have more pics please 🙏🏾

🤞🙏 It’s lovely here in Essex today, bit chilly but lots of sun! Long may it last.

Had pale lemon primroses here in Shropshire for a month or two, plus a tiny patch of snowdrops. Also had some roses until I had a brutal pruning session last week (Lady of Shalott from David Austin, if anyone's interested - never seems to run out of energy!).

Definitely very springlike today. Walking down the lane this morning I used my Merlin app to identify the birds that were singing. For anyone who doesn’t have the app I’d recommend it. Extremely easy to use and very accurate.

Oh I haven’t seen any celandines yet, but catkins, snowdrops and the odd daffodils. My camellias bushes are also flowering also.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 30-Jan-25 14:16:28

Felt a bit like it today as I began to prune the roses. They are beginning to shoot.

It certainly is in Kent today, Squiffy. We’ve had sunshine all day, and I saw the most beautiful Red Kite flying over the fields this morning when I took the dogs for a run. The Hellebores are flowering their socks off and the Snowdrops are in bud. I love the Spring too. 😊

Ziggy62 Thu 30-Jan-25 15:59:03

I saw my first daffodil in a neighbour's garden yesterday, in amongst the snowdrops. Really made me smile. Spring is on its way

Georgesgran Thu 30-Jan-25 16:03:25

We are miles behind here in the North East - my garden bulbs have barely broken through an inch or more.
I’m debating putting my white tulip Spring door wreath up tomorrow, but maybe that’s a month too soon.

GrannySomerset Thu 30-Jan-25 18:26:29

We have snowdrops and primroses out and lots of daffodils well above ground, so there is hope that spring is on its way.

The trees are getting that green haze before any leaves appear here in Bedfordshire - very cheering.

M0nica Thu 30-Jan-25 20:04:52

Primroses have been in bloom in my garden since October.

henetha Thu 30-Jan-25 23:31:08

It does your heart good to see all the bulbs bursting through the soil.
Definitely lots of little signs of spring about, but in spite of the sunshine today it was definitely chilly.

I thought the OP's photo was winter aconite. Mine are doing well and snowdrops visibly white. I gloomily call all these late winter flowers though not signs of spring. Reports of early promises are v good to hear.

Some little signs of spring here in East Dunbartonshire.

MaizieD Sat 01-Feb-25 11:44:07

I think it's a false dawn.

We get excited about early flowering plants but it's still drearily chilly and getting dark quite early for a couple of months yet. grin

My walks down the river this week have shown both daffodils and snowdrops in full flower here in Edinburgh. Had a little chat with a robin who made it clear he wanted me to turn over some leaves that had mixed with mud from the storm, so I dud.

MaiBea Sat 01-Feb-25 12:45:48

Yes I’m seeing signs on my walks too 🌟

No real sign of spring in N Yorkshire but snowdrops have been out since the snows melted, two weeks ago. My Doronicum, which I think is supposed to flower around Easter, has one miserable flower but it last flowered in autumn, so it's probably just a very confused plant! Bulbs are barely breaking the surface.

...and my husband is doing the hydrangeas as they have big, beautiful buds on them. He did them early last year and we had a terrific display which lasted way into autumn.

According to the Irish calendar, which uses astronomical timing, spring starts on February 1st (Imbolc/St Brigid's Day
