Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very still and not too cold.

I may get the bus into Edinburgh today. I need to visit my bank and
that's the nearest branch now. I haven't been for over a year.

It will be good to get out. I'm a bit stir
crazy.

The 3 plasterers were here yesterday
so crumbling walls have been
rejuvenated. why didn't we do this years ago

My prospective buyer wanted to
show his friend round so I was home all day.

There's a concert tonight if I feel up to it

I enjoyed the Bob Dylan film too
Kalu though my DS pretended he
knew all about it. He pandered to me as he prefers 1980s music.

Enjoy your day as best you can everyone. Thinking of the poorly ones.

Grandmabatty Fri 31-Jan-25 08:34:06

Harrigran I hope you are ok.

EkwaNimitee Fri 31-Jan-25 08:34:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather cloudy Carlisle.
Yesterday was a pleasant sunny day but I didn't get much done apart from a little ironing as, in spite of my low dose antibiotics, my kidneys are playing up again. I started a new book that's looking very promising.
I had a Tesco delivery. The driver told me they had worked through the big storm, even having to go up into Scotland where their actual stores there were closed.

Today, not much, I'll probably find some gentle jobs to do, I hate being inactive. One thing I will be doing is firing off an e-consult to the doc to see what they advise. I have been fighting off this infection for a fortnight now and it is not going away.
I shall proceed with my book, it must be a long one as my Kindle tells me there is 24 hours of reading to go. It's a sci-fi, something nasty is lurking in the deep oceans....Hope it's not going to give me bad dreams.

I hope all is now well with Dollie Marydoll, a bit worrying not to know why.

Do have a good day everyone.

Good morning all and it’s wet and dreary here in Essex.

Meeting our Friday pals at lunchtime for drinks and a few light bites. It’s so lovely to see them every week - we’ve been doing this now for 50+ years. The chaps were all at school together and us girls have just tagged along. 😂.

We’re hoping to go to our cottage by the sea on Sunday, weather permitting. 🤞. Checking if alls well!

GM an awkward evening for you. Families eh! 🙄.

Take care 🌱

Georgesgran, I loathe shopping……online shopping has been a godsend.

GrannyIvy Fri 31-Jan-25 08:47:56

Good morning from fenland Cambridgeshire where it is cloudy and grey.

Not much on the agenda here today. DH is off to breakfast club and I will tidy round and start the ironing pile which is now very large! If weather is dry later we may do an afternoon walk across the meadows, a three miles circular route to blow the cobwebs away. I breathe a sigh of relief that tmrw we enter into February. January has seemed endless this year.

Wishing a happy Friday to all 💐

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it rained heavily during the night and Alexa says it’s 4°C at present and 8°C later.

I’m off to the dental hygienist in a bit. Note to self, make appointments later in the day in future! Who wants to be ‘up and at ‘em’ so early when retired? Not me anyway.

We are considering calling in at the MacMillan centre for coffee at lunchtime. We will keep a weather eye open to decide.

GrandmaC47 Fri 31-Jan-25 08:51:43

Grey, damp and cold here in the south of Co Durham. Hope it doesn’t rain as I’m out to lunch with a friend.
Llfl, you’ve reminded me to make an appointment at SpecSavers.
Lulu, hope all goes well today.
Georgesgran, I used to love a mooch around Newcastle but it now takes over 2 hours by bus from my village, and it’s only 30 miles away.
Harrigran hope you're ok today.
Wishing you all a good day.
Love I may go and get dressed now 😀

Good morning from a drying Oxfordshire after a wet night, still cloudy though but just as forecast.

Cleaning and bed changing today and plenty to read on my kindle, yesterday was a lovely sunny day but very cold in town, but it was so nice to be out and about.

My toe has healed at last so I was able to wear shoes! Simple joys….

Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are unwell, sad or stressed.

Marydoll Fri 31-Jan-25 09:24:17

I thought I had posted this earlier! I am somewhat discombobulated today!

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

Lulu, I hope your op goes well.
GM, what a pity your evening was spoiled and you were upset.

Thank you all for the good wishes for Dollie yesterday. We took BabyD to visit her and she refused to go home. Dollie had a room makeover at the weekend, with a cabin bed and beautifully painted pink walls, and BabyD kept saying wow, her new word. She decided that the futon below the bed was hers and dragged Dollie into it beside her.
Dollie looked a bit better, but had hurt her her back, when she collapsed and in her words, is feeling rubbish. Her poor parents are shell-shocked.

After getting my bloods done and getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors in the huge health centre, trying to find a working lift and escorted by a kind doctor to a working one, we went to the leisure centre next door for coffee. BabyD loved it, especially papa's cake! We shall to have to buy her her own cake next time. As seat was secured beside the swimming pool and there were lots of babies, she loves babies, so was in seventh heaven.
Not the best of ideas, but we decided to put her in reins, rather than the pram, to try and tire her out. We failed!

Last night, DH and I settled down to watch our favourite Italian crime drama, with a glass of wine. Suddenly the nausea came back with a vengeance, so no wine, no drama, some anti nausea medicine and bed!😔

Today, DD is doing her care in the community stint by taking me for my shopping. Despite having always done it without any assistance, she thinks I need looking after!!

I wish you all a pleasant day and hugs for all, who have mountains to climb.

My task today is to find a roofer. The in laws next door informed us we have missing tiles on the roof. DH had checked, but missed that. DIL's father said that it was his cowboy builders, who spotted it and would repair it next week for us. We politely declined!

Morning from South Lanarkshire. I am so sorry about Dollie’s event yesterday Marydoll, I didn’t read the thread till yesterday evening and was really shocked, I’ve never heard of anything like that before and hope she is well recovered.

harrigran, a fall like that is horrible, I’ve made that same mistake a couple of times coming down the stairs and got a real fright. I hope your bruising isn’t too sore.

I had a lovely afternoon on Wednesday with my best friend’s brothers and sisters who still so kindly include me in their family reunion lunches nine years after her death. There were 11 of them, 8 sisters and 3 brothers. Two sisters and three brothers in law gone but everyone else still gather for lunch every few months.

A phone call this morning to my Corby sister who is off with her DH on Sunday for their second of the winter three week breaks the sun. I quite envy her!
Never mind February tomorrow and mornings getting brighter by the day.

Beat wishes to anyone still reading!

Good morning!

Georgesgran Fri 31-Jan-25 10:39:00

Is SueD around?
How is your DH?

hollysteers Fri 31-Jan-25 11:10:04

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Still off colour, so cancelled art this morning. I wish this “whatever it is” would b***er off.. I was meant to continue a self portrait.
Sorry to hear about a plane crash in America, as I have a flying daughter, I turn off any news that comes through.

My DSister arrives from the south tomorrow so I am looking at the minimum to do. The bed was made up weeks ago, thankfully and I’m going to cook a piece of gammon with cloves, mustard and honey. She has an old school friends’ reunion here every year and then will come on to me (with a hangover😁).

I watched ‘Cherie’ 2009, last night, a film based on one of my favourite author’s works, Colette. If you know a work really well, it’s never completely satisfying, but it was nice to look at.
Thoughts to harrigran and Lulu🌺
