Anyone else here after deleting their Mumsnet account?

As far as I’m aware you can post pictures on here so the same thing could happen on GN. Let’s not be too complacent.
I’m on both sites and find that I use both sites equally but for different things.

I used MN more than GN. On there since twas all fields.

This site seems to have fewer functions - no quote; no @; and no edit for a start.
I dislike the ageism on MN and the vitriol against MILs.
GN has so much less traffic and feels rather cliquey, a bit like old school MN quiches.

Could we please stop using the terms 'child porn' and 'child pornography' it is 'child sexual abuse' some people may think that's not important but it really is.

I hadn’t thought of it like that before but, of course, you are absolutely right!

Are these real photos of actual child abuse or AI generated?
Extra worrying if the former but either way, it is still a disgusting thing to post on MN.

Whether real photos or AI generated images, the effect must surely be equally sickening. I fervently hope I never stumble upon such a thing.

I disagree, if only AI images were used and not real photos, then at least actual children were not harmed. Still extremely sickening but hardly "equally sickening".

Indigo8, AI generated or not, the harm done to the viewer is the same, and the interest generated in those who are partial to this sort of obscenity is the same.

There has never been good or much cover at night.
No matter how many complaints there are.

I would actually report that to the police. Hope they did. They would be onto them like a tonne of bricks here.

Did you doubt that MN wouldn’t.
You have a population of about a third of ours. Our police are swamped with this obscenity.

Just deleted my account after looking at the stuff they talk about. Not relevant for me.

Oh no, that’s sickening.

I look at MN as much as I do GN, and enjoy it more. There are some truly witty posters on there, interesting topics, a lot of expert help and genuine support for those who need it, and some laugh out loud barking mad threads.

But I don’t want to risk ever seeing images like that, and I’ll be staying off for now, hoping they can get their security sorted out. They’ve had some annoying tech issues for weeks, with snail’s pace loading of threads and constant freezing. The site seems to be in urgent need of an overhaul.

I’ll be worried now though that the same thing will happen on here. Maybe all images should be blocked for the time being at least?

I wonder if that has anything to do with GN being down this morning? Tightening up their web site protocols maybe?

I wondered if there had been similar sickening pictures posted on GN when I couldn’t access the site earlier. I hope not.

I personally would be more sickened by actual pictures rather than AI manipulated or generated images. Clearly you do not feel the same way as I do. You are entitled to feel as you do.

I often pop onto mums net whilst in bed and I'm so pleased I didn't on Sunday I had a good book to read . Then was shocked to hear about the pictures . Last night for a minute I once again logged onto mum's net and then became scared there may be something awful so left immediately. Maybe the answer is no pictures allowed until they have been monitored.

I started on Mumsnet but was told off for a innocent but true comment which certain factions of the Mumsnet community took great offence at!
I much prefer Gransnet, it's much more free-thinking & far less narrow-minded (mostly). We can discuss, disagree & argue but there is rarely any real nastiness or lingering animosity on this site, so far anyway. 🙂

I think we are older and more mature on here. Different stages of our lives. It can get fiery and there are a lot of different viewpoints but that makes it interesting.

It's much more pleasant on here than it has been, at times.

Child sexual abusers have free access to images of children being sexually abused.
Accessing AI images will have the same impact as viewing images of live children. The men (it usually is men) who are sexually attracted to babies, toddlers and children won’t remain satisfied by viewing, they’ll be looking for real live children
