Good morning from Malta where it is only going to reach 14°C today.

Yesterday I took the boys to a different park (we are lucky to have a lot of child friendly places to go) and they had a lovely time playing on the slides and swings plus doing a lot of walking in nature. They haven’t used a pushchair for quite a while now which makes it much easier to take them out.

I watched tennis from Rotterdam last night and really enjoyed watching Carlos Alcaraz’s match. Great fun!

I’ve stripped the bed this morning and my lovely son has promised to turn the mattress for me as I just can’t manage it. There are no handles to grab onto and it’s quite heavy so I ended up on the floor underneath it last time I attempted to flip it!😂

Glad you have your new chair Mick, that was quick!

Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning from a chilly Bristol. Boy, it was frosty and misty yesterday morning at dawn. At least, the wind didn’t pickup until mid morning. Clear again this morning but not frosty.
I went with the family to the Bristol light show all over town. Some of the lights were fascinating, like what looked like a fine lycra sheet. If you pressed onto it, a white vortex appeared for a minute or so. Different vortices in different parts.
Finally, we saw the famous flamingos, FGT. They filled a little uncovered stream by the cathedral. Different coloured lights came on and turned them from scarlet through the rainbow. The heart shaped disco ball outside DD’s church wasn’t very exciting, but the lights around it were a bit more pretty.
There were any number of families there, the atmosphere was lovely.
Spanish today and more sewing.
Have a good, contented Friday. Carpe diem. 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, dull, wet and cold here all day

I am glad I was outside all day yesterday, the sun was out and I grabbed the opportunity, it was warm and lovely. I met a new plot owner, her first day and very much a potential friend. The vibes were right. Its a shame to be back in dull and wet weather, I loved it outside yesterday

Today is back to mostly being indoors, with a walk this morning. I do want to make a start on gardening smocks, I could well cut one out this afternoon

Have a good day

Morning everyone, I couldn’t get comfortable last night, consequently I haven’t slept well.

I am determined to get to my manicure appointment today. I have a cunning plan, involving working round my pain killers and DH dropping me off right outside.

The light show sounds good grandMattie

Your boys keep you on your toes Bellasnana they are at that lovely age where everything is fun and new.

Take care (perhaps I should take my own advice 😹)

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and 2 degrees - warmer than yesterday when I had to defrost the car before I went to walking group. It was a grand day to be out and we had a good long walk in lovely sunshine. Then a nice lunch with DD and GS.
Today I have to sort out an appointment and then this afternoon is school volunteering.
Have the best day you can, folks.

harrigran Fri 07-Feb-25 06:37:55

Good morning from a cold but dry NE.
I had a lazy day yesterday, mostly spent watching netflix.
Today I am going out for lunch with my friend, her DH drops us off and collects us.
Have a good day.

Susan56 Fri 07-Feb-25 06:43:13

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday was a lovely day spent with DD in Manchester. The Young Voices concert was brilliant.A fantastic experience for DGD and the other nearly 8000 children who took part.We didn’t arrive back at school until nearly midnight so there will be a lot of tired children today.

A quiet day today until school pick up.The children are coming for their usual Friday night sleepover.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, 2°C outside, and sleet showers forecast this afternoon.

Yesterday's film 'Here' was a bit on the weird side, based around an 18th century house in the USA, and showed the lives of the different families that had lived there over the centuries. It whiled away an afternoon....

Dance classes this morning, and then a curry to make when I get home.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

RosesandLilac Fri 07-Feb-25 06:57:18

Good morning from south Glos, it’s dry here at the moment. Yesterday was lovely with the frosty start and the sunshine, a peaceful dog walk to start the day set me up nicely.
I enjoyed art group yesterday afternoon, we do more chatting than painting! I’ve decided to do more drawing and using coloured pencils including watercolour pencils, especially for my art journaling.
Today it’s the usual housework chores, nothing exciting.
I hope you all have a good day 🌹

cornergran Fri 07-Feb-25 07:07:19

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset feels cold, a grey day is forecast.

Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday. We left here under a bright blue sky and quickly found ourselves in thick mist, not fun on the motorway, wondering what on earth we were doing. Fortunately we emerged into sun a few miles before the NT property we’d decided to visit, joint sighs of relief. The snowdrops were magical, the house quiet, all very relaxing.

Volunteering this morning, I’ll be well layered as we sit in front of a constantly opening door. Not sure about this afternoon, wait and see time.

Be careful out there gg13!

Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Fri 07-Feb-25 07:07:40

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

I have to go to Waitrose this morning and then we are going to watch Persie in the Sound of Music.

We had a lovely time with DGS2 yesterday. He is 6'3" tall and gives huge hugs. He is off to Australia on Saturday. We don't see him that often but will really miss those big hugs.

The memory cafe was very hectic but fun.

baubles Fri 07-Feb-25 07:12:19

Good morning from cold and very frosty South Lanarkshire.

You all lead what sounds like busy, good lives. It’s lovely to read all the accounts of a morning.

I had fun yesterday picking up paints, pencils, coloured markers etc for GDS’s birthday, we will see him on Sunday.

Today is childminding day for the other grandchildren in Edinburgh, a day of to-ing and fro-ing.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 07-Feb-25 07:18:11

Good morning from a cold and windy Torbay. My weather app says it’s three degrees but will feel like minus eight due to the NE wind! Brrh! 🌬

That concert sounds like a marvellous and unforgettable experience for the young people, Susan56!
The light show must have been fascinating, grandMattie. In answer to your question regarding Arnica for joint pain relief, I use anti-inflammatory gel to good effect. Other health issues prevent me from taking oral ibuprofen.

Yesterday, I went back to bed in the afternoon and actually slept better overnight as a result, which surprised us both!

A good day is wished to you all whatever your plans, including the cunning one you have GG13! . 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Redcar Fri 07-Feb-25 07:29:09

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, but cloudy and quite cold. A cold and showery day is forecast for today, with an easterly wind making it feel even colder. I went for a walk in the sunshine yesterday morning and met some dog walking friends. Then I tidied the smallest bedroom to make room for my sewing machine in there. Then I carried the sewing machine from the dining room to the bedroom, it was probably too heavy for me but I survived! Moved a few things around in the dining room so it looks a bit tidier now.
Today DD2 is taking me to see my 99 year old godmother, it’s a bit far for me to drive myself there at the moment.
Have the best day possible everyone, keep warm!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 07-Feb-25 07:29:20

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I will finish off some WI admin this morning and email the notes of Wednesday’s committee meeting to everyone.

After an early lunch I’ll drive OH to Oxford for his urology appointment. He will then make a decision as to whether to stay with the NHS operation date in March or pay for it to be done privately.

Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Fri 07-Feb-25 07:39:39

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s -1° and looks very frosty outside
The Bristol light show sounds amazing gMattie, so clever what they can do these days
How lovely if you have made a new allotment friend karma, lots of happy chatty times ahead
We arrived home early evening yesterday after a good journey back from Spain with everything running on time. Extra layers were gradually added as the journey progressed! Not sure what we’re doing today although there’s definitely a trip to Tesco planned sometime to restock the fridge
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Fri 07-Feb-25 07:53:24

Good morning all. A misty, frosty start to the day in Glasgow but we are promised sunshine later.

Mostly an at home day and if we do have a sunny dry day, I will enjoy pottering around the garden.

Reading about the outings with your boys in pleasant weather Bella then comparing outings here, a pleasant enough day finds me gardening, probably doing too much in one day as our weather is so changeable.
Your DGS will be delighted with his birthday present baubles. DH enjoyed painting and I have since, handed in a bag full of different paint mediums, brushes, pencils to our local small art gallery, much appreciated, for their workshops.
Enjoy lunch with your friend today harrigran

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 07-Feb-25 07:55:19

Good morning so far it’s dry, cold and windy here in our part of Oxfordshire.

I need to whizz round with the cleaning stuff today as we have people coming this evening for supper and cards, just a quick meal then the card game which 3 of us always remember the complicated rules and 2 of us have to be reminded as we go along the other one forgets as soon as she is told anything, it’s always such a laugh, we haven’t got together (due to my dizzy spells) since last Summer, so it should be fun.

Took the dog back to MissOops yesterday and offered her advice ref the Nephew who is in a really bad place again, however he has a new GP and has been given some new pills, MissOops has to take them to his house every 2 days as he can’t be left with the whole packet.
It’s extremely worrying but we are helplesss to do anything, MissOops is coping so well after 8 years of it, but he is so much worse now.
Anyway, hopefully the pills will help enough for him to have a FTF appointment with this GP next week. So far no Mental Health help has been available.

Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 07-Feb-25 08:03:47

Morning from a chilly S Hants, I heard the wind before I got up, stretch class was good yesterday, I’m feeling the benefit.
Farm shop, vape shop and returning an item to M&S where I’ll pick up a steak pie today. Pub tonight for our usual catch up, lots of events planned there as the year unfolds.
Take care you too GG13!!

Good morning from a wild and windy Suffolk seaside.

I enjoyed our book club meeting last night . Only five of us so we chatted about this and that as well as the book, which everyone enjoyed.

Today we’re heading back to Essex as Dh has a dental appointment this afternoon. I’ve cleaned and tidied the cottage so it will be nice to return to in a few weeks. I hope we don’t miss all,our bulbs flowering . Our odd job man will come and mow the lawn while we’re away and also fit a new handle on the summerhouse as Dh snapped it off after the door had become stuck. Not his fault (🙄).

Take care all and I hope GG gets to her manicure appointment.

Good morning from a dark and cloudy Black Country.

Great walk yesterday morning in the sunshine, albeit very cold, soon warmed up on the walk. Then lunch out with Mum and took her to Lidl.

MrJ is 74 today! He is still in bed with a cuppa. We are going to Birmingham this afternoon to the cinema to see A Complete Unknown. Then a meal at the Mailbox in the evening, and an overnight Hotel stay.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good Morning Mick and all GN's on a still very cold looking day. Not been outside but opened the curtains and swiftly closed them again as the cold was coming in from the windows! Did just see a couple of branches moving and when I looked again it was the squirrel moving along.

So, had quite a busy, and hopefully productive, day yesterday. I normally go to the womens group on thursday morning. As with anything, there are some times when there is a talk or meeting that particularly appeals to me and other times it is pleasant but not a special day. However on the first thursday in the month it clashes with another meeting, and so I now usually go to that and then report anything useful, and pass on leaflets etc to the womens group. Communications are my background , and I read the local paper weekly and take note of anything that might be useful to others. So there is info about half term things to do for children etc. This other group has mixed speakers but is more local based but often has things like information about traffic situations, and buses and road closures for roadworks , in advance from the council, and there is often a council spokesperson comes to that. (I expect they cringe when they see me there, as I also give them messages from our group members and as a mobility scooter user, keep up to date with things like that)
Well , I think I have got myself another group to visit , as I went to enquire how many representatives of disabled people were at the meeting regarding the way that the central area in town had been rejigged and altered He informed me that he could not tell me , off the top of his head, to which I replied that I could give an educated guess of NONE. !

They have gone ahead and done the work, so that they have made a wider open space with some benches and paving outside the town hall. Sounds ok doesnt it? However firstly the benches have only a single bar across the back, so far too painful for anyone with back problems, nothing to lean agains,t and of course why would they think to put a waste bin close by to encourage people to get rid of their litter. ?Then there is a bicycle rack and there are parking bays for cars close by. Oh what is missing? Absolutely no specific areas or spaces where you could put a mobility scooter safely or lock it up. Then as another great flourish they have made the paving rise and fall next to a travel shop. There is no yellow line painted to warn you of the change of level and anyone could stumble there as I have seen people do , especially as there is an options close by and if you have had drops in your eyes you will definitely not be able to distinquish them. I suggested that in future it would be better and of course cheaper for them to consult with groups before they actually go ahead with their plans , and we might also save them money, if they dont end up being sued for an accident.

So , had to rush back as was expecting someone, but it is very chilly being on the buggy on a cold day. Anyway got back in time and am quite pleased with what I have managed to do, in terms of actually got various things put in the actual place that I want them, and it is cheering to see at least a few things being sorted. Still waiting for a floor covering to be put down, the hot water tap annoyingly with a poor little flow etc etc. I mean I have been back just before christmas and we are in february now and still feel it is more like a building site than my home.

Today , I am going to be donning the winter wear again and out on the trusty yellow peril. I have had to change banks as once again my bank is closing and the lovely helpful staff will be gone. So did this and promptly received my bank card but then waited and waited for the pin thing to arrive. Checked with the new bank a couple of times as I was worried in case some scammers had got it or whatever. But no it was just our doleful post, and it came yesterday, so off to do all the faffing about with that, but at least this new bank has automatic doors and I can literally drive straight in,so dont have the hassle of getting off the buggy. I then need to look round to buy a new cover for the buggy. Last night it split up the back of the chair and so wont keep any rain off. How dare it fail, I mean it was given to me from someone who didnt need it any more and I have only had it for a couple of years!!!

So got a few other bits to get in the town while I am out and about, and plan to treat myself to a coffee and even an apricot croissant at the other end of town, and may meet a friend there. Am fortunately, down to the lesser level of pain, and I really notice my ability to think and plan is always so much better when I have a better day. So of course I must plan for food shopping as there will be rugby to watch tomorrow and the weather doesnt sound as though it is going to be worth going out unnecessarily so it is collect the local paper and this afternoon sit down and read that and send on the news to the group. The thermals and gloves etc are at the ready and so shall get going and look forward to settling down for a cosy afternoon with the paper. Hope everyone has a good day and succeeds in whatever they plan to do.

Good morning Mick and all from 3° northwest coast.
Another quiet day yesterday but had a long FaceTime with DD in the south. We touched on the subject of me downsizing, a tender subject with me, but the back garden is large and it would make sense. As a half hearted gesture towards it, I did some decluttering…

Art group this morning and will continue with self portrait in costume. Rather tricky, particularly as I have my hands clasped in a complicate way. Missed last week as I was off colour and looking forward to seeing everyone.
I felt I needed some exercise yesterday, so Alexa played some favourite pop songs and I danced around the sitting room. The cat was not pleased.

Hope you enjoy your chair Mick and thoughts to all🌺
