Oldies’ coffee morning where we will be celebrating a 103rd birthday! Makes me feel quite young in comparison. Will be in charge of neighbour with Altzheimers, my good deed for the day as she is wildly inappropriate but funny and cheerful. Will need a quiet afternoon to compensate. BT have axed my answerphone and need to try to contact them to get it reinstated, I failed dismally yesterday so will need to approach the problem calmly and logically. May still not succeed if yesterday’s frustration is any guide.

Good morning from a dull Suffolk. Yesterday I drove about 3 miles in a heavy mist towards the village hall where my stretch class is held and the last couple of miles in bright sunshine.

Lunch with my 3 friends was,as always,a chatty time and we looked out on to a calm sea( sitting inside a warm hotel. Today I have a hair appointment this afternoon and I might make a start on the growing pile of ironing before that.

Hope you have an easy trip home Gingster and all have a good day.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very frosty Carlisle, however, dark clouds are arriving to cover the blue.
Yesterday was a beautiful day, I really felt the warmth of the sun when taking a look round the garden. It was just a pottering day again, I'm fighting off a threatening bug and trying not to take antibiotics.
Today will be the same. Plus I have some admin and, finally, the end is in sight for my very long book. It's absolutely stuffed with all sorts of technical and scientific information, which is very interesting but takes time to read through. Getting towards an exciting ending with a twist I think.

Do have the best possible day everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -1°, frosty and misty. The roofs are white and the cars are iced up. Ash you must have needed the sleep. Bellasnana the park sounds lovely. Brook welcome home. A big change from Spain!
Yesterday I pottered about and did some housework then went to the school library for an hour and a half. I really can see a difference already. The Depute sent out an email, telling people not to dump stuff and that seems to have got through. The school secretary came to apologise for leaving some stuff. She's a really nice lady so I felt bad. It was more the 30 yoga mats that annoyed me! Anyway, a distinct improvement in the shelves already.
Today I'm having a quiet day until I pick up the boys later. Dd asked if I could make it. I toyed with going to the library for an hour or so but have decided not to. I don't want to wear out my welcome! Scapa1 I'm taking your advice. I have some macaroni cheese left from yesterday which would do dinner tonight. I'm not a fan of second day pasta but I hate waste more. Have a good day all.

Enjoy your chair Mick. Have the best day you can everyone and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where we have a heavy frost, it's -2°C.

It is lovely to read so many upbeat posts this morning. Susan, that event sounds so enjoyable.

GG, I seem to have missed what happened to you. I even trawled back to see what happened, but still have no idea. I hope you feel better soon. 🥰

We had a delightful, but exhausting day yesterday with BabyD and Dollie. Dollie is so good with her, which takes the pressure off us.
It was a beautiful day, so we walked to the farm to see the horses, with me hobbling miles behind DH, who thinks he is in training for the Olympics. 🏃‍♂️
We were walking along, when a works van drove by and tooted the horn very loudly. DH assumed that as usual, it was someone I know, because a number of acquaintances had waved as they drove past. I said I had absolutely no idea, who it was.
The van screeched to a halt, further up the road and a head poked out of the window, shouting; Hen, you have lost your wean?
Well, I looked and BabyD was still in her pram!! A passerby shouted, Her baby is lying on the pavement!. The wee besom had thrown her dolly out of the pram, further up the road and we hadn't noticed.

On going to pick up Dollie, at school, we decided to put her in the reins, so that DH (who always gets flustered,) wouldn't have to struggle putting up the pram, or even more difficult, folding it down again.
BIG mistake! She loved it, but decided it was her way, or no way. She is the most stubborn of children.🤣
She had a ball, especially when the Primary One Teacher, on her way back from the library with her pupils, , stopped to talk to me. I don't think BD has seen so many children in the one place.

The icing on the cake was when Dollie and her classmates were waving from an upstairs window and then all came to talk to her and make a fuss of her in the playground.
Her wee face was beaming.🥰

The downside was that when it was time to take her home at dinner time, she lay down on the floor and refused to get ready. She had a full blown strop, when papa tried to put her in the car. She had no intention of going home.🤣
Not having napped, she was exhausted and we spent the thirty minute journey home, singing nursery rhymes to keep her awake! Just as we reached her home, she conked out!!🤣

Today, we are meeting DD and SIL for lunch at a local hotel. The former PP had given me a voucher last Christmas ( he was always very generous), so I said we would treat them as it is SIL's birthday. That was before we got the eye watering bill for the roof repair yesterday! 😢
I need to try and get to Lidl first, my baking stash is low and I love their yoghurt. No doubt, I will end up buying a lot of rubbish from the middle isle.

I wish you all, a pleasant day and successful hospital appointments. Baubles, a lovely day for your childminding. Will you have a walk along the beach?
I need to mention, our absent friend Blossoming, for whom life is a struggle. We miss you.

Good morning from Durham, where it’s just started to rain lightly,
I sold a heavy gold necklace yesterday - I don’t wear it and the DDs didn’t want it. The jeweller is interested in other stuff I might want to sell.
Durham has the Lumiere Festival gM but, (IMO) it’s not as good as the first two years, plus the City is packed and it must bring in trade.
Overnight, my friend lost a bit of tooth, has an emergency dental appointment, so our coffee is postponed until this afternoon - but I need odd bits which I’ll try and get this morning.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning,
Another cold day in store here but not as cold as yesterday and no frost. No sunshine, either, sadly, at the moment.
Going out for lunch today, but no other plans as yet.
I hope your new chair is comfy, Mick.
Have a good day.

Good morning from the east coast of Fife- yesterdays funeral was very well attended and I met family and friends not seen in yonks.. I’m getting excited I’m going to Tenerife next Friday and meeting up with a gransnetter from years ago, today I’ll be going out to my local comunity club with my new social carer who’s really very nice. I’ll also come home and tidy up my paperwork it gets in a real untidy mess.

Have a good day my friends only you know who you are. 💐💐

Good morning from W Kent. An enjoyable time was had by all at art class, after two months off a lot to catch up on.
Today I am going to a small group for the deaf held by the local Kent charity that give out the free NHS batteries. It is a friendly group where some are profoundly deaf and we can all relax and chat with a lot of repetition and laughter. It’s also useful as various cafes and restaurants are mentioned that are easier to hear in, some of the modern coffee machines are so noisy.
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s sunnyish but cold. It was certainly very windy during the night. Himself startled us both with a fierce coughing jag at 5am which alarmed us. We had TIB to calm ourselves and reset. I hope it’s insignificant.

I have a routine optician appointment at noon but otherwise no plans so I plan to read my book. Himself may go out at teatime to watch the Boy Wonder at his ⚽️ training providing it’s not too cold.

Now to read all your posts!

Good morning from a cloudy West Sussex by the sea. Cold wind forecast.

I had a surprise phone call yesterday from a nurse, about my colonoscopy appointment on 22nd. “Haven’t you had the letter?”, she asked, in what sounded to me like an accusing tone. “No”, I said. A pause, “It was posted on the 3rd of February” - she sounded disbelieving. “That’s only 3 days ago”, I thought but didn’t say, “and it will have been 2nd class post”. Anyway, I duly answered all the usual questions and sure enough, the parcel with my lovely ‘prep’ kit was delivered a few hours later by the postman. I am supposed to have a colonoscopy every two years after a bleed and finding of polyps a few years ago. It went a bit astray during Covid but seems to be back on track with weekend appointments. Unfortunately mine is the day of DD1’s 50th and DGD’s 21st birthday celebration, so I will be a bit washed out, literally! At least the procedure is in the morning.

Welcome home, brook. Hope you adjust to the changed temperature painlessly.

GG13, yes, do take care, I hope your pain lessens.

Oops, that is such a worry about the nephew. I hope his new medication will help.

I did some much needed cleaning yesterday. I should complete the job by cleaning windows and patio doors today but cleaning two days in a row… 😦

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.

It's icy out so I will re-adopt my stick. I need to go into Edinburgh soon.

Yesterday was most interesting. A valuer came from an auction house and went through my house explaining what furniture was worth them selling. The answer was not much but also not what I had assumed.

I am going to sell the house soon so this scaling down has to happen.

Be careful Redcar you shouldn't be lifting heavy things.

Lots of fun for GMs today by the sounds of it.

Morning from South Lanarkshire, I don’t know why but I keep thinking it’s Saturday even though that makes no sense since I’m going to Seamill for the weekend from Friday till Sunday, leaving in a couple of hours! Oh dear.

You’ve come home to cold weather brook but I’m sure your memories will keep you warm and it will be nice to see the family!

I loved the tales of Marrakesh, it sounds such an exotic place.

Best wishes to all especially those with health concerns💐

Good morning from a grey looking County Durham.

Yesterday was glorious so we decided to put on the walking boots and head off to Linhope Spout in Northumberland. It was well worth it, the sun shone, the valley looked spectacular and the waterfall did not disappoint. The sound of that excited rush of water was a tonic indeed. Snowdrops were in abundance along with the yellow gorse putting on its own colourful display. It was a wonderful day to be out and about.

Today after a short treadmill run it will be housework. The bedrooms were not completely tidied after the GC sleepover last weekend. Beds to be changed and some sewing adjustments need to be made following my bargain spree last week. Two blouses for 7.00 in a sale, perfect for wearing under woolly jumpers. I also managed to pick up some gifts from Boots in their 70% store reduction. Now where did I put them?

Wishing all a peaceful day.

glammagran Fri 07-Feb-25 09:42:53

Good morning to you all.

What a lovely day it was yesterday. We went to Bath which we haven’t done for ages. It was fairly quiet I thought and not even a lot of traffic driving in at 10:30am. The department store Jolly’s (House of Fraser) closed last month and the 4 storey Debenhams is sorely missed. Had lunch in Las Iguanas which was ok. Deserted in there. Such a change all in all to the pre Covid era.

So sorry you’ve been in the wars GG13. I wish you a speedy recovery. Best of luck to Mr LLFL this afternoon. Hope you all have a good Friday.

Good Morning from a beautiful sunny morning in Co Armagh, the frost is sparkling on the rooftops , where the sun hasn’t reached
Yesterday was the same , very cold , but my tweed coat kept me cosy , I find it more comfortable to wear rather than my puffy one , I like buttons rather than zips , less constricting
Went to a talk in the Hall. , local history society , we like local speakers rather than University lecturers , this man was a blend of both , lovely clear speaker talking about a local place and well researched
The Hall was full and the folding doors had to be opened to accommodate the audience
I met up with two of pjs cousins that I hadn’t seen since before covid !
Art session cancelled today , so the duster might be deployed !
Best=wishes for a calm pain free day

baubles Fri 07-Feb-25 10:21:00

Marydoll sadly not as
I have to stay on the premises at middle child’s dance class while DH gets to take the eldest and the dog to the beach. DDoutLaw will have the youngest as she’ll have finished work for the day.

Good day all
I’m very late today. I’ve been swimming then home to a hot chocolate drink.
My hip is uncomfortable today, I think I’ve done far too much sitting down.

Happy Birthday to MrJ. Enjoy your night away 🎂🎉
