I love the Gingsters (pasties)ad and also I think the Specsavers ads are really clever
The one that really gets to me is Andrex it’s just so weird
I’m not sure if we see the same adverts in all parts of the country 🤷‍♀️

I hate the period gush woman who jumps of the bus and looks to see if she's leaked in the shop window!
I'm just watching deliveroo ad of the half man half octopus eating his takeaway with his girlfriend 🤷🏻‍♀️.

missdeke Wed 12-Feb-25 14:22:36

I find a lot of ads irritating and infantile but I'm really sick to death of all the ads that fill the screens with peoples backsides jiggling up and down.

And why are all car ads arty with absolutely no information about the actual car involved.

Cabowich Wed 12-Feb-25 14:25:52

I loathe them all!

wibblywobblywobblebottom Wed 12-Feb-25 14:33:04

Why would I watch tv ads. I watch the BBC mostly which doesn't have ads.

spabbygirl Wed 12-Feb-25 15:04:01

I like the Rocola ad, you know the Swiss herbal sweets company, a lady is enjoying a rest on a summer alpine meadow & two people turn up to blow those long trumpet things and don't realise she's there then apologise. It's the best of a bad bunch.
I don't like the funeral ones, I'll leave my money straight to my kids who can pay it, I'm not giving it to some company to keep for them.

I dislike the LNER train line advert with the red haired puppet and the terrible music.

Me too. I actually put the sound off and walk out of the room for a few minutes to avoid this awful ad.

Not necessarily an ad but I find those things on Sky Arts between programmes with people being taught to do things, eg playing the violin, drawing, dancing really irritating. I love the French Revolution car ad ( Suffragette City) wonderful and it always makes me smile. Although I then feel sad that Bowie is no longer with us sad.

Indigo8 Wed 12-Feb-25 15:12:55

Has anyone noticed how many of the car adverts show a car being driven on the righthand side of the road? Which is probably partly why they are not available in the same spec.
Which makes these adverts even more pointless than they already are.

How often do you buy a new sofa? It would have to be at least once a month to justify the endless adverts.

Jess20 Wed 12-Feb-25 15:18:01

I try not to watch adverts of any kind, almost every single one is trying to part us from our money

Leavesden Wed 12-Feb-25 15:29:02

I hate nearly all the adverts, funerals, period products where especially they show fake blood, the lady farting and going through the office with her toilet roll, adverts asking for money the list could go and on. I often mute the adverts, I forgot the adverts for electric cars at a astronomical price that I wouldn’t have a hope in hell in paying for.

Dislike car ads, with young people driving amazingly expensive cars through Outer Mongolia or some such place, scenically impressive but what the heck?
Smug Derek with his Sun Life waffle also irritates the hell out of me.
And yes the big man - a bit like a young John Prescott - in the bath with his wife dithering outside a door that is just ajar, is so annoying.
Do love the Haribo ad with the policemen but can’t think of any others.
I remember Frank Muir doing the silly little jingle for the Fruit and Nut ad, ‘everyone’s a fruit and nut case…..’ and the Smash ads.
Also was it Nescafé Gold Blend that launched the big romance in its ads?

Babs03 Wed 12-Feb-25 15:47:53

Oh and a younger Maureen Lipman advertising BT.

Damdee Wed 12-Feb-25 15:48:03

I like the Snickers ad about being unfiltered when you are hungry - the two couples playing the board game, and the blonde thinks the brunette is talking about switching partners. Makes me smile, and it's well acted.

ferry23 Wed 12-Feb-25 15:51:53

I echo all of the above plus the holiday advert where the most mismatched family ever are in heaven with their free croissants in the airport lounge.

I'd be hard pressed to put a brand to most adverts these days - compared to the days when ads were so cleverly put together - and we all knew what was being advertised - a few favourites from the past...

PG Tips Chimps - "Dad, do you know the piano's on my foot? You hum it son, I'll play along"

Leonard Rossiter & Joan Collins - Cinzano and the plane seat grin

Sharon Maughan & Anthony Head - the Gold Blend love story

The most obscure and weird adverts nobody could understand - but we all knew they were for Guinness

The quite delicious Nick Kamen and unbutchered Marvin Gaye - Levi Jeans

Linda Bellingham & Michael Redfern - the Oxo family

Fly Fishing by J.R. Hartley - Yellow Pages

Maureen Lipman's grandson and his "ology" - British Telecom

Henry Cooper "splash it all over" - Brut

"Nice One Cyril" - Wonderloaf

The Martians - For Mash Get Smash

Lots more I'm sure - yesterday's adverts which were better than a lot of today's programmes!

Yes that one is hilarious 😆

The Specsavers adverts always give me a chuckle.

Indigo8 Wed 12-Feb-25 16:01:21

The PG chimps always worried me at the time.

I found out that they made them appear to talk by intensively training them. They were dressed up, filmed and then dubbed by various actors. Hardly a natural life for the average chimp.

The chimps used were very young as older chimps are less appealing and more difficult to handle.

On the beach advert. Makes ‘booking ‘sound like a swear word. Listen!

jocork Wed 12-Feb-25 16:09:53

{ like the specsavers ads but fed up of hearing about pure cremation!
I sometimes appreciate the ad breaks to nip to the loo or take the opportunity to fit in a small task.

I put the kettle on or nip to the loo.

I don't have favourites or non-favourites, I turn the sound down & look away to chat, look at my phone or anything else whilst the ads are on!

Motherduck Wed 12-Feb-25 16:27:52

I do like the advert for Virgin Atlantic, but adverts generally irritate me.

EkwaNimitee Wed 12-Feb-25 16:28:39

Haribo and Specsavers are amusing.
The ones I loathe are Go Compare, We buy your car and the Jet 2 holiday ads

Etoile2701 Wed 12-Feb-25 16:48:37

The pee pants and Andrex adverts. Also can't stand the AA ones and the people waxing lyrical about fresh smells whilst sleeping in the park. There seems to be an obsession with 'fresh' smells at the moment. I do quite like the Snickers advert where the woman suggests a partner swap. Otherwise most of them leave me cold.

*All of the funeral plan ads but particularly the twee woman talking through the door to her large husband who is in the bath*

I agree, and I always imagine the next stage where she throws an electric heater into his bath...........

Totally agree with all the funeral adds but this one has to be the worst.
