Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but clear and does feel as cold , maybe a start to milder spring weather.
Today , my usual bus trip to Bicester , see others I know, return home and watch cycling most of the afternoon.
Health OK, take care,
Mick

Good morning from a still chilly Bristol. Yesterday’s sunshine was so very welcome. We are going to pay for the milder weather with wind and rain!
I was very busy yesterday, in my supposed empty. Because it was sunny, I did my laundry, and dried it outside for the first time this year.
I did some baking - two tea loaves (orange and mincemeat, and lemon and date) and 5 dozen biscuits (some orange and some lemon). I also made a French 🧅 onion soup for today as I’m going to be very busy.
Exhausted, I sat the rest of the day and read/knitted.
This morning, I’ve got morning prayers, followed by the usual FAB cafe. In the early afternoon, the Ladies’ Guild is meeting. The talk sounds quite interesting; finding locations for films. The BBC studios are just down the road.
May your mountains be just small hills…. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, a bit of sun today then rain all week

A quietly busy day for me yesterday, all my deliveries went well and I have more good cardboard stored in my car for my plot. I kept on top of my housework, did some spinning too and some reading, I prefer a factual book

I sorted my seeds and wrote some labels, my grow light propagator is set up and is so big that it will need to be in a spare bedroom. I brought compost and bits into my utility room and intend to do all my seed sowing and potting inside in comfort this year. Starting today

New season and a reminder that the long winter is coming to an end. With that promise, I can feel my eating habits taking a turn for the better and my desire for cake has waned, it is a natural process for me, together with undoing my winter nest

Have a good day

Good, very early, morning from the Essex coast. It doesn't feel as cold today.
DH has a nasty cough, hence the reason I am awake so early.
Yesterday's dental appointment was fine. I have a lovely Irish dentist and he does love to talk.
No plans for today, I'll see how DH feels when he gets up.
Have the best day you can everyone xx

RosesandLilac Wed 19-Feb-25 06:09:56

Good morning from a dry spot in south Glos although frustratingly it apparently won’t be that way for long!
The re waterproofed coats I left hanging out over night were frozen solid yesterday morning, ice on the pond too. Like grandMattie I hung all my washing out yesterday for the first time this year, hooray!

I spent an hour in my summerhouse just enjoying being there again. I can use it all year round but I’m very mindful of the cost of heating - it’s got a heater with a thermostat for frost protection. Yesterday it was comfortable enough to sit with a cup of tea and watch the birds on the feeders.
Today I don’t have anything planned except more drawing and dog walks.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Good early morning to you!

Ashcombe Wed 19-Feb-25 06:27:14

Good morning from a rainy Torbay with milder, dry weather forecast. It was good to see the sunshine yesterday!

Thank you for all the good wishes for DH’s journey; he is safely home in La Sarthe after an easy trip. Both cats were pleased to see him.

Belated birthday greetings to Kalu. 💐
What a joy to be using your summerhouse at last, Rosesand Lilac after the trails and tribulations of its construction!

As a result of completing a “patchs” form online (the new preferred method of contacting the surgery) on Friday, I am to expect a phone call this morning from a GP to review one of my medications.

This afternoon we have a talk on The History of Sexual Health at Wednesday Club from one of our members who is a retired nurse. Last week we had an intriguing talk on Alaska from an 85 year old member who years ago sailed its coast in a 33foot yacht!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry, feels chilly to me.

Chores accomplished yesterday, nothing exciting other than hearing our younger granddaughter has chosen a dress for the prom later this year. A photo should come later, no matter, if she’s happy so are we.

A pottering day ahead. After filling the slow cooker with a batch mix for cottage pie we’ll wander out, there’s a need for decent bread and some milk. Mr C will suggest coffee and I’m unlikely to argue.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Goor morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is currently nought degrees and there’s a light frost on the car. GS came for an overnight stay yesterday to help me with some heavy jobs, so we moved pots of emerging bulbs from their winter housing to new spring quarters and emptied and cleaned pots of bulbs that were no longer productive. We also did some work on the bed in the front garden and that will be a work in progress for a while. Then we washed the car. We had a nice dinner and watched tv. He was anxious to watch the show from the O2 arena for opening of the F1 season where the teams reveal the new cars and liveries. I was prepared to immerse myself in a book and leave him to it, but I was mesmerised by the special effects which were fabulous. Today we will have an easier day with a pub lunch and then he’ll be off home. He’s wonderful company and I shall miss him, but my goodness can he eat!!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from Malta where the sky is blue and another day with a high of 20°C expected.

I’m already with the boys who are having breakfast. We had a lovely day at the play park yesterday. Both are getting very intrepid about whizzing down the very highest slides. They make ne laugh.

Felt pretty exhausted but went for my eye test in the afternoon. A very lovely Russian lady optician who informs me I have the start of a cataract in one eye but no need for action yet.

I ordered new varifocals which took a €690 chunk out of my bank account. It has been an expensive couple of months what with a new a/c plus car tax and insurance but so be it.

Sorry I missed your birthday dear Kalu but hope you had a lovely day.💐

The plumber is coming again this afternoon as there is a leak behind the loo on which he fixed the pump last week.

I watched tennis from Qatar yesterday and hope to do so again today as Alcaraz is playing.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Morning everyone, not sure what the weather is doing today/

At lunchtime, I am off to have a check up on my left knee, all being well o will have the stitches removed, a step towards recovery. Hopefully they will have some information on follow up appointment at fracture clinic for my right foot along with another Dexa scan. The joys of getting old 🤷‍♀️

Take care folks 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s dry and bright, a little less cold than yesterday morning, but still a chilly 2 degrees.
We had a lovely sunny day yesterday, but bitterly cold. I went for my usual walk and met a friend walking her dog. I need to increase the distance I can walk as I’m going to Center Parcs with the family before Easter and need to be able to walk around. Saw my friend with dementia in the afternoon, but she was asleep all the time.
Opticians this morning to have new lenses fitted into my present frames, the first time I’ve done this, but it’s a bit cheaper than buying new frames too. Then I think my son in law is going to take some of my very heavy flower pots to the tip because they’re too heavy for me to move.
susan I hope your meeting about your mum goes well and that you can get funding for her.
Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Wed 19-Feb-25 07:33:13

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Made the most of my outing with DD and DGD, a lot of care was taken buying me a new lipstick for special occasions, if only I had much in the way of lips now!
Today I am off to my small art group, winter is the theme although one lady resolutely refuses to do whatever is suggested.
Hope all goes well GG, Susan and all with a difficult day ahead

madeleine45 Wed 19-Feb-25 07:36:24

Morning Mick and everyone,
Having a horrible start to today. After all the great effort yesterday I had planned to do more sorting out and go down the town. No such luck. and utterly frustrating. My wretched body reminded me who is boss and it isnt me! Rotten night, lots of pain and then bouts of cramp. Struggled even to get up, exhausted and havent even faced eating anything yet which is stupid as cant have painkillers until I do, but feel nauseous too. So, cancelled any plans, no good buying anything that mattered in this state of mind and temper on a short straw, so wouldnt be fair to meet up with anyone. So it is getting through the day today, and hope for a better day tomorrow. Grey and miserable weather outside rather matches my state today!! Hope for better tomorrow and that you all have good days today.

EkwaNimitee Wed 19-Feb-25 07:36:59

Good Morning Mick and everyone from grey but dry Carlisle. It's not due to last judging by the forecast.
I had a busy morning yesterday finishing off the laundry and other housework. After lunch I went out and planted most of my snowdrops in the green in the front lawn. It's quite hard work as borne out by the results on my fitness watch. I'm hoping to get out in the back garden shortly, I still have double snowdrops and english bluebells to put in.
My thoughts are lightly (very lightly!) turning to spring cleaning jobs like trying out my new, small carpet washer. Not today though! The trouble is, gardening weather is approaching and there will soon be plenty to do outside where I would rather be.

Wishing you all the best possible day.

Jaxjacky Wed 19-Feb-25 07:42:16

Morning from at 5 a less cold start to the day, yesterday’s sun was glorious and jumpers dried outside.
The kitchen had a good clean too, a combination of sun and my new glasses showed up every mark on the white units and kick boards.
Beef casserole defrosted for tonight’s dinner.
Pleased to read your brother is now helping with your Mum Susan good luck today,

Good morning from the midlands where is just started to rain again. Dre’s yesterday for a really bad sinus infection. Got antibiotics . Headaches so bad and also sciatica. It’s rubbish getting old. A walk then off to the shops. Take care everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 19-Feb-25 07:57:38

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but still chilly. Himself is expecting delivery of his electric scooter today, I have a dermatology appointment this afternoon just for reassurance hopefully. At teatime I’m being picked up to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson and in between I plan to finish our book club read ‘Strange Sally Diamond’ which I’m not loving as it’s too graphic, makes me feel uncomfortable and is a bit of a misery fest. I’ll be glad to finish it to be honest and choose something for myself.

kittylester Wed 19-Feb-25 08:04:20

Good morning all from a cold North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was a fabulously full on day
We had 5 children playing hide and seek and eating us out if house and home. We adults had a really good catch up.

The last of the visitors will go home later this morning and we will sit down for a couple of days!!

Have the best days possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s grey and cloudy, slightly warmer at 2° and a forecast high of 6, not seen that for a while¡
Hope your appointment up goes well today GG13 and progress made
Today I’m off to the gym, I’m trying out different classes and gradually getting to know new faces. Everyone is very friendly which helps when you’re new
I’m very impressed with the electric scooter FGT good for him!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all from Glasgow.

Good luck with your appointments, GG.

Warning! Please scroll on by and ignore, if you do not wish to be bored by my rant.😉

DH is feeling unwell and is very sorry for himself. He is in a foul mood. I will now have to deal with the fencing contractors, because he has retreated into a corner to wallow. It is just a minor bug, but in his head, he has a major illness .

Yesterday was like Sauchiehall Street here. DD was down at least three times, because they had no toilet facilities, at lunchtime SIL appeared to take a shower, Dollie didn't want to trail with her mum to pick up the car, so she came to stay here, 😍 then just as she left and I sat down for the first time all day, the phone rang It was DD, they would be down to stay the night, because they could not walk on the toilet floor.
Fifteen minutes later they appeared.
Later, I thought I could hear someone coming in the front door, it was DS1. He had decided to watch the football with DH.
To cap it all, I asked to DD to keep an eye on the Scotch broth I was making, she didn't! because they were watching the football. 😡
I could smell burning, the soup was stuck to the bottom of the pan.
I had made it, because my mouth is so painful and am having difficulty eating, I was so looking forward to it. 😭

The icing on the cake was when I went into the utility room at 7am to find piles of bedding and towels, which rather than put in the machine, DH had climbed over. How can there be three loads of washing, when it was up to date, when I went to bed???? Then he wondered why I was so annoyed. He just doesn't see how much I am struggling and how much of an effort it takes to do the simplest of tasks.. I am permanently exhausted.
There was no sign, of DD and SIL, who had left early to let in the workmen and for SIL to log in to work. Of course, true to form, DD has forgotten half her stuff! I suspect she will be back later, once all the washing is done.

I cannot even wallow in peace, DH has just come to see if I'm dressed yet, because the workmen will be here soon. Cue some rather expressive expletives from me.!!!
All joking aside, it is blooming hard work, trying to be upbeat and resilient.

I apologise for my self indulgent moaning, my complaints are trivial and there are many on GN, with greater crosses to bear. I just needed to vent my frustration at what my life has become.

I will come back later, to read. Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

RosieandherMaw Wed 19-Feb-25 08:12:17

Good morning from N Bucks where although overcast it definitely feels (a bit) less Baltic.
You all sound very busy and I suppose I had a mildly satisfying day “playing” with my new shredder ( as I had burnt out the old one from the fact that it stopped dead with a smell of burning and wouldn’t restart after its little rest)
Wishing you all a pleasant - and hopefully milder- day.

Grandmabatty Wed 19-Feb-25 08:16:10

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and dry. Grey skies again today. Susan I hope the meeting is successful. I'll be thinking of you.
Yesterday dgs1 was so lethargic that we didn't go to soft play but stayed home. Dgs2 and I played in the garden. He played, I watched. I did blow bubbles though. I heard from dd that dgs1 was very sick again last night while at his other grandparents house. I had a fairly early night and slept reasonably well.
Today I'll potter about. The kitchen needs tidied and I could do with hoovering. I will go to the school library for an hour this afternoon. I think I'll make chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning from the high seas as we cruise towards the Canaries. We should dock tomorrow so a day aboard beckons.

Our day in Casablanca yesterday was fascinating. Such a pity I can’t post any photos at present. We visited the huge mosque built in the 1990s which can hold up to 25000 Muslims and a further 80000 outside. It overlooks the sea and although it has no windows the roof is retractable to get the sea breezes. Beautiful decorative tiles outside.

We enjoyed mint tea and pastries after a stop on the Corniche and then visited a modern Catholic Church. The stained glass which was the whole of the sides was absolutely spectacular with modern depictions of the Madonna in various guises. This was the highlight of the day for me.

Although 80% of Moroccans are Muslim the guide told us that close to every mosque there is either a Christian church or a synagogue so religious tolerance seems to be very much alive in this country.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all.
