Good morning form a dull and chilly Black Country.

It was bitterly cold yesterday, but it was at least sunny. Went over to Mums on the bus, then DD came and we went to lunch at a lovely pub. Mum had fish n chips as usual.

This after I have an audiology appointment. It is near Merry hell Hill shopping centre, so may have a look round there first.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's still very cold.
Far too early yet to think of growing anything. The snowdrops are looking wonderful.
An interesting morning with the book valuer who needed a ladder and carefully scanned my "library". The only thing she found of any value or rarity was a 19th century ledger of local Asylums! which she thinks should be in the National Library of Scotland
I can't think where it came from but DH was forever finding "treasures" in book sales.
She directed me to auction houses, dealers and charities who would be better placed to dispose of the lesser volumes.
Today yarn group and sewing class so very sociable.

I hope all those holidaying are having a great time. Bonnybanko, and others.

I hope you enjoyed your birthday Kalu

Keep well and take care everyone.

A quick good morning from me in my favourite place in Hampshire. It’s sad to me that we left here 46 years ago.

MrOops sister came to lunch here yesterday, she is trying to get out on her own since her husband died last November. We had a good lunch with an eye watering bill! We should have eaten in the bar……
Off to the beach today, it’s dull but dry so far. But we will wrap up warm. I’ll read your posts later.

Hope everyone has a good day and those with stresses and illness have a peaceful time, I also hope the sun shines again soon.

Good Morning from Durham. A lighter shade of grey here, but feeling below zero. The bird bath is frozen.
I’m not seeing/meeting anyone today, so a leisurely bath and hair wash first, then should I go out or stay and do more garage sorting? I could do both, with a trip to the local tip - I know how to live!
Karma have you seen the new thread about allotments? You might have some good advice/suggestions to offer.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all and it’s very still, dry and chilly here in Essex. Yesterday we had a lovely sunny day.

Dh left for his trip to Suffolk and I had a long dog walk. Still muddy fields and woods but not too bad.
Bridge was good in the afternoon with ‘birthday boy’ cake. I had a decent partner so we’re hoping for a good result 🤞.

Not sure what’s on the cards today. I’ll go to church and might wander up to town but my Wednesday pal has her daughter and DGD staying so I won’t be meeting her.
I have no car as Dh has our only one,

Dd and DGD might pop over and we’ll do some baking, so it’s a ‘wait and see’sort of day. Dh will be home late afternoon. Fingers crossed he would have sold the car.🤞.

Good luck with appointments GG and Ash.

Take care all. 🌱

I do hope your day improves Madeleine and you feel better very soon.🙏

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, a dry day expected.

Enjoyed our well-being walk yesterday in lovely sunshine, although the wind was cold. Nearly three miles done, but undid all the calories lost with a slice of chocolate cake!

A friend phoned me to see if I knew that the cinema was showing David Tennant's Macbeth today (which I didn't), but can't go because I am seeing Bridget Jones.
However, it is also on tomorrow afternoon, so I have booked to go then.

Made a chicken stroganoff for dinner last night, which is a faff to make, but so worth it.

A few things to get done this morning before an early lunch, and then set out for the cinema to see the afore-mentioned new Bridget Jones film.
Bean chilli thawing in the fridge to have with a jacket potato when I get back.

Glad you are enjoying your cruise Liberty; I have been looking at photos of it on a Facebook site.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Yesterday I got out in the sunshine and did some tidying in the garden, but I'm paying for it today hip and lower back very painful.
No playgroup today as its half term.
Today I shall practice Niksen (Dutch verb meaning doing nothing).
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

Good morning all. It's 5° here but doesn't feel remotely 'warm' with a decidedly brisk breeze coming out of the SE. But it's not raining - yet - so must be thankful for small mercies.
I had a good night's sleep last night, right through the night, so should be raring to go. But I'm not so I probably won't 😉. I do find this unremitting greyness just makes me want to courrie down and hibernate with a book or two and a steaming mug of homemade cup-a-soup.
DGD3 was at the funeral yesterday of her friend's sister, aged 23. She had taken her own life and nobody can understand why. So very very sad.
And grandson Fraser had his very long hair cut short yesterday in preparation for starting chemo next Monday. Goodness, how different he looks!
Now off I go. I shall give the kitchen a good clean before I allow myself back into hibernation. Enjoy the day everyone - soon be March! 🌷🪻🌼

Good morning all. A chilly2 deg in Glasgow. Yesterday’s heavy snowfall didn't happen, today’s prediction is ‘some snow’.

My birthday outing with my girls last night was such a joy. We decided to return to mine for coffee and another surprise, a birthday cake with many candles appeared with a chorus of happy birthday, a tissue was required. As we share the same sense of humour laughter filled the room yet again with DD2 joining in via FaceTime. My wonderful girls are the best medicine.

Ditto having some time in my garden room watching the birds feed yesterday Roses. It is well insulated and I only heat it if I spend some time in it.
Your GS sounds like such a joy to have around Grey and has a lovely strong bond with you.
Marydoll, don’t wear yourself out doing for others. Time to be firm and delegate taking time to look after yourself if no one else will.
I envy you being in Casablanca Liberty. As it wasn’t too far from where we lived in France we often promised we would visit one day but sadly didn’t. Coincidentally, the film Casablanca was one of our top favourites.

Have the best day possible all which hopefully includes some respite during a difficult day.

Electric scooter has arrived! 🛴
Himself has set it up. It’s a heavy bugger, solid, with large wheels and the ability to ‘go up gradients’.
He’s delighted with it boys and their toys so £400 well spent! 😂

Rainbow1235 Wed 19-Feb-25 09:47:16

Good morning to u all . Marydoll I would be very annoyed too . My son is 35 today so quickly popping to see him before he goes to work as he’s afternoons then it’s bens weekly breakfast at the local cafe which he loves . Realy gloomy day here today and very cold .

GrannySomerset Wed 19-Feb-25 09:48:49

A trip to the surgery to collect my prescription the only must do today, so I will immerse myself in Orwelll’s The Road to Wigan Pier, the U3A book group topic for next week. Not a spirit lifter and with worrying links to today but so well written and will be well worth discussing.

So sorry you are having such a frustrating and exhausting time, Marydoll, but it’s a good thing you can vent here or you’d explode. When DH was becoming detached from reality I used to go into the garden and scream - I had warned the neighbours that this could happen - and could then come indoors and behave kindly and well.

Marydoll Wed 19-Feb-25 09:58:19

Thanks for the sympathy, my dear friends. I just needed a virtual hug!

DD, who always supports her father, when I am ranting, has suddenly realised how frustrating he can be and how odd his behaviour is at times.
She offered to move my car last night, before the workmen arrived today. He stood in the drive and supervised her, despite the fact that she has been driving for twenty three years. She was raging! 🤣

So far this morning , I have done three loads of washing, dried most of it, renewed my driving license in preparation for reaching seventy 😱, chased up the scaffolding for the roof and washed my hair.

Morning all from a glorious Hurghada - I’ve just listened to the 3rd call to prayer (Dhuhr) while sunning myself at the beach 🌞. Wish I could send some to you all (sun that is, not the Muezzin 😊)

Miss Marydoll is now having a scolding from her star pupil…you shouldn’t be doing so much for others when you’re not a 100% yourself x

Hope the rest of you are behaving…🤗

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
Really enjoyed yesterday. In charge at the music club and introduced the performers with alliterations, Songbird Susan etc😁. My voice was in better shape too after practising. I can’t expect not to sing for three months after my op’ and for it to be in top form. I’m not getting any younger either…

Problems booking my return ticket from the south for Tuesday as one card is frozen after my scam and my other card was not accepted for some reason. Life seems more complicated now online than in Ye Olden Days. Also emails back and forth to Germany for performing fees.

Lunchtime recital today and may meet up with friend from music club for coffee afterwards then a quiet evening in.
Hope the holidaymakers are enjoying themselves and thoughts to all🌺

I am curious FGT. Where will your DH ride it? Police are clamping down in our town and always seizing e scooters.

Good morning from West Sussex. After yesterday’s glorious sunshine it is hard to see grey sky again today. DH got lots done at the allotment yesterday while I went shopping after a short volunteering stint. I hate buying new shoes/boots so have been wearing increasingly tatty ones all winter. I had made occasional attempts to find replacements but being a size seven and a half and having awkward feet (and being very fussy), I’d had no success. Also DH wanted to buy me some long boots to replace my much loved, laces up the back, black leather ones that my horrible big toe went through about 5 years ago. It was to be my Christmas present at that time. Anyway, I went into a little shoe shop which I know stocks the brands I like and immediately found a pair of ankle boots, some plain, side zip knee highs and a sturdy pair of shoes with zips both sides which should be really easy to slip in and out of - I can’t wear slip-ons and get tired of struggling with laces. The boots were in the sale and I got 10% off the shoes so I’m very happy 😊

Today I am trying to think what to eat as ‘prep’ day for my colonoscopy is tomorrow. The list from the hospital includes rice crispies and sugar puffs, white rice and pasta ☹️. I may have to go and get some chicken. Anything in the freezer has forbidden ingredients. DH kindly baked some white bread in the breadmaker.

I am glad that those suffering so much pain have Mick’s lovely thread to rant on but I wish you didn’t have to - I pray that you will all find some relief.

DD1 will be back from Marrakesh tomorrow to celebrate her 50th birthday with family and friends on Saturday. I have been going through our collection of photographs, mostly taken with little, cheap cameras and will do a board of the best ones. I was hoping to have an online photobook completed, with a printed copy as well but haven’t finished it yet. Hoping I will be more expert before DD2’s 50th in two and a half years time!
