Good morning Mike and all busy GN's on a cold and windy, but so far dry, morning in North Yorkshire
Things must be improving and going towards spring as I read everyones posts, and people travelling and gardening and baking etc. A cheering read, to start the day.
Well sorry that I start with a mixed bag rather than all good. But have to tell you to explain my writing today. I have lost my reading glasses!! It is driving me crazy and a good job I can touchtype or couldnt be writing this!! Especially at the moment with my cataract problems, I really need them to read anything but especially things like instructions for cooking or being able to read my local paper etc. I am normally very careful and at the moment , finding moving very painful, I have got a small carrying bag with all the necessities for the moment, so radio times, calendar, diary bits and pieces and opened the glasses case and they were not there!
Well there is always the silver lining of course. So I have been retracing my steps from bed to kitchen etc, but with more care, especially watching where I am walking. the thought of stepping on them is worrying. I have a big magnifying glass which is heavy but helpful, but am very loath to go and buy another flipping pair as they will be no use and cost a lot for just the time between now and the operation, but do not think I can manage like this for weeks . I am so annoyed with myself and keep checking in coat pockets which I have already checked because I just cant believe they have disappeared into thin air. (Do any of you find yourself doing that? You know that you checked it not 30 minutes ago but chose to wonder if you checked both pockets etc,. Infuriating)
However the silver lining is that I am finding a few other things that have disappeared behind cupboards etc., and it is ensuring that slowly lots of rather untidy spaces are getting sorted. My bedroom looks tidier than it has for years! So it is plodding on room by room looking for them, and hopefully at least things will all look better and there will be various things that need looking at but as there is no chance of being able to study small print. My ironing is probably going to finally get top billing as I will be able to do that without brilliant eyesight, so I also will have a selection of clothes to choose from at the end of the exercise.
I have been listening to composer of the week and it is Benjamin Britten's early works. I enjoy his work and have sung a lot of it, so it is interesting to hear some works that I dont know at all. Hurray for the radio and all kinds of music. I have of course listened to my Bach before 7 today but just been singing Patsy Klein Crazy to myself so it will be a day of singing too, of things that I d=nt need the music to look at. So hope everyone has a good day, oh I do wish the travellers could send us some sunshine!! So good to hear that Ladyleftfiedlover arrived safely in australia and hope Ginny has a good trip home. Bellasnana no need to apologise, that is what friends and gransnetters are for. We are able tot alk about whatever is happening at the time whether it is a really deep problem or something happy, but I definitely agree that the feelings when you have a cold are horrible and you are entitled to feel rough and talk about it. Hope the day improved for you all
