Good morning from yet another heavily frosted Bristol. It has been glorious, people are smiling and coming out to to sun themselves, rather like lizards…
Yesterday’s foray to the optician has brought cautious optimism. I kept my glasses on most of the day, the headaches are fewer ditto dizziness.
I finished the cushion cover for my neighbour’s birthday on Saturday, it is rather pretty. I’ll try to,post a photo.
Today, I’ve got an appointment at the eye hospital to check up if the steroid drops are working.
DD has invited me to a pancake dinner. When the children were younger, I would make them drop scones for breakfast, tortilla wraps for lunch (if it was half term) and wraps or blinis for dinner, with crepes for pudding. I then told them to never complain that they didn’t have pancakes… 😁
I’m going to spend the morning making some to take to my FAB cafe tomorrow. Nutella or lemon/sugar as filling.
Have a good day; enjoy your pancakes. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

What’s happened to the gizmo for posting photos? It seems to have disappointing.

Good morning from a frosty hillside in south Glos, another lovely sunny day ahead 😄
Yesterday I did some more gardening, it’s looking better, so many bulbs coming up 👏
The sun was so warm out of the breeze, a really uplifting feeling after the weeks of gloom and rain. Everything is still really wet but that’ll change of course.
I had a lovely dog walk with a friend in the afternoon, she’s setting up a new business after being made redundant, an exciting time for her and she’s understandably nervous. We bumped into a number of other dog walkers in the field so the dogs had a great time.
More time in the garden today, my favourite place.
Pancakes later! Lemon and sugar for me 😋
Enjoy the sunshine if you can 🌹

Good morning from s somerset, a delightful sunny spring day today

I did the big donation yesterday, really superb equipment in pristine condition and all gone to the mens shed, they were very grateful and all smiling, it took three car loads and my car can hold a lot. I was so happy to be helping a community project and everything will be used for a very long time. I do know that my husband would be happy. It took me 9 years to `let go`, my AC are delighted that everything has gone to other people in this way

I abandoned going to craft group, my mind was too unsettled so I spent the whole afternoon sorting my resulting very messy garage, moved tall shelving units etc. I was dog tired when I finished but it was worth it. My mind settled after that and I managed to stay awake and had a good sleep overnight

It was so warm yesterday that I decided to go on a long cycle ride today but on my old e bike, the battery charged overnight. The saying` buy cheap buy twice` is so true, my bike was expensive but is in superb condition with a yamaha motor, we bought it in 2008

I don`t want to plan anything else, just my main meal but I may chop up a crown prince squash, ready to use tomorrow for soup

Have a good day

Good morning from Malta where it is raining and about 14°C.

Yesterday’s trip to the passport office was not straightforward as I couldn’t find it, even with my phone supposedly giving directions.

I was in such a state having driven round in circles for the best part of an hour, that I went to the cemetery and promptly burst into tears when telling the flower seller (who I’ve known for many years) about my stupidity. She was very sweet, remembered my husband and said we were like two young lovers, and told me how to get to the wretched office.

I took some lovely flowers to DH, lay on his grave and bawled my eyes out, fortunately nobody was around.

I then found the passport office, no wonder I had passed it three times, it’s in the middle of a very busy road with many lanes veering off onto flyovers and if you’re in the wrong lane it takes a long circuitous route to get back on track.

The actual process of renewing the passport is fairly easy and I didn’t wait long to be summoned, however, just as I was about to have my photo taken, the computer system crashed! I know in ugly but that’s a first!

It took another hour before the issue was sorted and all proceeded with no further hitches.

In answer to Bonnybanko, you can’t apply online for a Maltese passport, you have to go personally. It will be ready by Friday and only €70 so a lot cheaper than my British one.

grandMattie, the photo adding feature has been unavailable for a while due to some problem in mumsnet. I don’t know when we will be getting it back.

Sorry I have rambled on. I was a mess yesterday literally and figuratively! I’m dreading seeing the passport photo as I had windswept hair and a face that had been crying a lot. Oh well, it’s a good thing I’m not vain.🤦‍♀️

Wishing a good day to all. ☀️

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dawn is just breaking in South Yorkshire and it is set to be another fine day. Yesterday I was outside most of the afternoon. I only meant to do a bit of pruning but started pulling a bit of ivy off the back fence and ended up with a big job on my hands, and a very dirty one at that. It seems to be coming through from next door. Back to the tyre place this morning as they didn’t have my size yesterday and had to order one in. Then a volunteer session this afternoon.
Have the best day you can folks

Greyduster Tue 04-Mar-25 06:23:35

bellasnana wishing you a better day today💐

Hello from Sydney where it is warm and humid.

My sister in law, my heavily pregnant niece and me went to see the new Bridget Jones film. We gave it 8/10. My younger son’s old housemate from Manchester had a small part in it. Two lines!

I’m thinking about dinner yet most of you have the rest of the day to come.

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Mar-25 06:40:37

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and damp. Too dark to tell what the weather will be. Bellasnana you did it though. I would have gone home in frustration. GrandMattie the boys are having pancakes for breakfast when I get them later.
Yesterday I really enjoyed my day. The boys were on good form, the staff enjoyed the lemon drizzle cake and I worked for two hours. The lovely janny had built some more shelves and that has helped tremendously.
Today, after I drop off the boys, I'll empty their bedroom of toys. A new bed for dgs2 is being delivered and built today. They don't play much in the bedroom - just take over the rest of the house - so it means I can have both boys overnight if needed. That's today's excitement. Have a good day all.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the sunrise has been glorious.

Bellasnana I hope you’re feeling brighter today.

Last night we had a catch up dinner with my cousin who is on one of his frequent trips from Canada, good food and good company.

Today will be fairly busy with a dental hygienist appointment, charity shop shift and yarn group this evening.

I’ll have to give some thought to dinner and remember to take some chicken out of the freezer before I leave.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Sar53 Tue 04-Mar-25 06:55:26

Good morning from my bed in Leamington. I've no idea what the weather is like but we are forecast sun later.
I had a bit of a scare yesterday when climbing into the bath to have a shower. I'm not sure what happened but I started to fall backwards out of the bath onto the toilet. I am covered in bruises and it's all a bit painful this morning.
DD1 will take me to the station this morning ready for the trek home.
I've loved being here and spending time with the girls.
I should be home by about 2.
Thinking of everyone with hills to climb, best wishes to all xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 04-Mar-25 07:11:11

Good morning Mick and all

Oh Sar53 you must feel very sore, I do hope your journey back here runs smoothly.

Bellasnana Oh dear, let’s hope today is a better day 🌸

I had a lovely lunch with Gingster yesterday who was kind to chauffeur me door to door, we put the world to rights and had many laughs. All of which lifted my spirits, I slept for 6 hours last night, and feel so much better.

grandMattie good news about your eyes, karmalady where do you get your energy?

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

kittylester Tue 04-Mar-25 07:12:51

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

I have choir this morning and DH has a volunteer drive. I aim to make batter before I go out. This afternoon I aim to batch cook some chilli.

I was exhausted last night after our Carer session in the afternoon. We had 12 participants, all caring for loved ones with some for of dementia. The first session is always hugely emotional and I felt like a piece of chewed string by the time I got home. Luckily DH cooked.

And Forest won apparently! I wouldn't know. I was in bed.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Mar-25 07:14:54

Good morning everybody from Málaga. I’ve made my own TIB as Himself is still snoozing. Dry again. A hopeful start to the day although an amber weather warning is still in place with a red warning today for the Rhonda area! Goodness. Got to feel sorry for anyone on holiday who thought they’d be coming out for some winter sun.

I have my LWW (Ladies Who Wine) this afternoon which I’m very much looking forward to. It’ll be just me with the 2 ladies who have lived out here for 30 and 25 years respectively. I’ve brought them each a box of Thornton’s fudge as it’s not available out here and three back copies of the Saga magazine for the same reason as they both love reading it. The December edition will have to give them presents and food ideas well ahead of the next event!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Mar-25 07:17:07

* love how my post shows 7:15am (UK time) and not the hour later here, Spanish time. It makes it look as though I’m an early riser!

Good morning all, in a rush. Dollie will be here in a moment and no pancakes have been made.

I am devastated hearing the news of Auntieflo's move to a hospice, She contacted me from hospital the other day, asking how I was.
A true GN friend. There are quite a few of you.

Have a good day, all.

Grammaretto Tue 04-Mar-25 07:17:36

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
What a fright Sar . Glad you didn't break any bones.

Bellasnanna what an awful time you had yesterday. Let's hope today proves better.

I spent most of the day in my pottery studio with a break for lunch at the arts café. Our art centre is sadly closing for ever at the end of this month after almost 50years. It's become too expensive to run the building, classes and events without Council support.
The committee are all aging and no younger people are coming forward to take it on.

Today I shall visit my poorly friend and perhaps tackle more decluttering.
Well done Karmalady

Hope a good day is had by all including 🥞 pancakes!

Bonnybanko Tue 04-Mar-25 07:19:01

Good morning everyone it’s still very dark and very windy today here on the east coast of Fife, I’ve wakened with a horrible head cold once again.
I developed this cold since coming back from my holidays in Tenerife and if I remember right I had the lurgy last time I flew, I’m hoping it clears up for next Tuesday as I’m going to the theatre with my lovely daughter to see Madam Butterfly it’s been on my bucket list for many years

Bellasnana so pleased you eventually got your passport bet you’re gorgeous even with your windswept look

Have a good day my friends, dance like nobody’s watching , youl feel good after that 🤣🤣

Kalu Tue 04-Mar-25 07:22:38

Good morning all. Milder and dry in Glasgow today.

An unexpected visit from DD1 and both girls yesterday afternoon. All three arrived beaming and I soon found out why, GD1 passed her driving test and drove them to mine. I am so pleased for her. She kept that one quiet!

Sorry you had such an upsetting day yesterday Bella. I hope today finds you more settled. 💐
Ouch Sar, what a frightening experience for you. I hope you mend quickly.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Redcar Tue 04-Mar-25 07:28:41

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and very frosty again. It took me 10 minutes to get the ice off my car yesterday at 9.45! I need to go to the post office today, trying to decide whether to walk or to drive again! Dentist yesterday for a root canal filling, it was ok, but I feel a bit bruised this morning. Didn’t do much for the rest of the day.
I may try to do a little more gardening this morning. Will see my friend with dementia this afternoon.
bellasnana pleased you eventually sorted out your new passport, but how stressful for you.
sar53 I hope you’re not too sore today. Have a good journey home, I hope all the trains etc are on time for you!
Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Tue 04-Mar-25 07:32:23

Morning Mick, morning All. A frosty start to our corner of Somerset, sunshine forecast later.

Retrieved the iPads big brother yesterday, the computer wizard has turned a tortoise into a hare. Not sure I can keep up grin. Thankfully our misbehaving front door was adjusted in the afternoon, 🤞 it lasts. A routine Tuesday ahead, grocery delivery, towels to wash and an attempt to remove much dust. Pancakes later. Sugar and lemon for us.

What a day bellasnana, you got there in the end. Ouch sar, that wasn’t fun. Safe journey. Good luck at the eye hospital granmattie.

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

luluaugust Tue 04-Mar-25 07:36:46

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I have a country drive ahead of me today to visit a DF for tea and chat.
Yesterday’s U3A meeting was interesting, 10 turned up and we were supposed to be talking about childhood games but the discussion turned to our childhoods, how different and yet the same. Much talk of bombsites! Goodness how old we all are. Quite a good bonding exercise for a new group.
Marydoll sorry to hear about AuntieFlo I had a lovely message from her not that long ago.
Bella glad you finally got your passport
Sar what a fright

Susan56 Tue 04-Mar-25 07:47:27

Good morning from Shropshire.Another sunny day forecast.

A quiet day hopefully after yesterday’s marathon hospital visit.

I feel very sad that AuntieFlo is now receiving hospice care. One of many lovely gransnetters who welcomed me when I first started posting over nine years ago.My thoughts and prayers are with you AuntieFlo🙏🏻💐

brook2704 Tue 04-Mar-25 07:51:09

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey, it’s very different to the bright sunny weather further south
What a lovely way to donate the items karma, I’m sure they’ll be well used and appreciated by everyone
We arrived home early evening yesterday after an easy trouble free journey from DD1s in Cambridge. A lovely weekend all round with happy family memories made. Today I’ll just call into DD2s and do a bit of food shopping, nothing much else planned except a bit of online shopping after my browse around John Lewis at the weekend 😀
Bellasnana 💐
That sounds so painful Sar53, hope you’re ok today and safe journey home
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
