Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. No frost here.
I had a busy houseworking morning yesterday followed by an afternoon of reading, finally finishing my latest book.
Today, finish off the basic housework and hope the weather is good enough for gardening after lunch. I am expecting the gas engineer at some unspecified point as well, it all depends on folk being signed off from sick leave so it's fingers crossed. I don't remember a winter like it for folks getting sick from all the bugs there seem to be about.

I wish you a quiet, relaxing day, Bellasnana, what a frazzling experience for you.
Sar you were lucky not to have broken something. I don't like those showers in the bath personally, I think they're a tad risky but the only option for a lot of folk I guess.

And wishing you all the best possible day.

The end of an era Grammaretto after all those years. A sign of the times.
Sar53 what a shocking accident. You and GG13 will be able to swap scary stories when you next meet up! 😮

Good morning from another frosty Black Country.

Such a lovely sunny day yesterday. I walked 7 miles on the morning walk, then after Line Dancing in the afternoon, my total was 10 miles for the day! No wonder I fell asleep at 8pm on the sofa last night.

Only plans today is to take my 5 days of Blood Pressure readings to the Surgery. Then may make a start on clearing out and tidying the Garage.

That sounds very painful Sar53 hope you are feeling ok now.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning all and it’s another frosty but sunny start.

Had a lovely lunch and catchup with GrannyGravy yesterday and I was pleased to see how she’s progressing and coping with her injuries. How life turns in a second.
Sar you too! You must be sore ! Take care on your journey home.

This morning I’ll shop and it’s Bridge Club this afternoon.

Prayers for Auntieflo 🙏.
Bellasnanna what an ordeal for you but you had the strength to see it through! . 👍. Hope today is happier for you.

Take care all 🌱

DD and DSiL are about to set off for home but defrosting the car is taking longer than planned. It has been so nice to see them and we have had such a happy time, and I do appreciate their company. So once they drive off it will be laundry and sorting out. Glorious morning so line drying looks certain.

Taichinan Tue 04-Mar-25 08:17:42

Good morning all from what is at the moment a very grey Angus coast. However the weather app shows us with bright sunshine for the rest of the day, so that will be lovely.
That was a nasty tumble Sar - glad it's just bruises you're having to contend with today
Bella well done! And the windswept look is all the rage 😉
I'm off to tai chi soon, followed by a very necessary shop at Tesco. I shall be shattered and will either spend the afternoon basking in the sun or lazing in front of the tv - with eyes closed in both cases!
Have a good day everyone, and karma enjoy your bike ride x

harrigran Tue 04-Mar-25 08:24:53

Good morning from a sunny NE.
I had another night of scary dreams, don't know where they come from, hadn't been watching horror films.
Another quiet day with just light housework.
Hope your day is less stressful Bellasnana.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a bright, sunny still morning in North Yorkshire, but looks chilly.

Not even dressed yet, been awake for hours, but wish there were oiling spots on body as absolutely creaking and grinding today!! Poor night, but of course thinking about today, going to the hospital. Good job it is later morning as with a bit of luck and some painkillers I will have improved by the time the driver comes. Well just hoping he comes, as not heard from him to say he is coming. So just have fingers crossed he turns up - well actually not crossed fingers too painful!!

A shame it is on pancake day. Havent made any up but might do when I get back. I have a special pancake pan which has travelled the world with me and cooked I dont know how many pancakes over the years.

When we first moved to Portugal and people had been very kind and invited us to meals etc whilst we were still in the hotel. I wanted to thank them , but it was going to take a long time as there were lots of people involved. We went down to the Algarve for a weekend and there were the lovely oranges and lemons on the trees and you could literally pick them off and they were so juicy. That gave me an idea and so I gave a pancake party for everyone. My kitchen there had two doors, so I had the big table in the lounge covered with all the fillings, savoury and sweet; so had a spiced beef and another curry something as some of the savoury with some salad side dishes. The lemons and oranges were of course the centrepiece and I cut them in half and put them in a cut glass bowl . Then lots of other sweet fillings including stewed apple with a touch of cinnamon in but one of the favourites was a more adult version of mashed bananas, where the addition of a little rum was popular! But that is a filling that has to be put on very last minute and immediately eaten as it is so sloppy. I had made up 3lbs of batter and all the plates and cutlery etc were at the ready. Then I was ensconced in the kitchen and everyone came in one door, watched me toss their pancake and made a wish and then moved out to chose their fillings and the next one would come in etc.

It was a great success and as many of them were musicians and singers we had the windows open onto the balcony and someone was playing guitar etc. We used up all the batter and they even sent out at 2am to get more milk and we made a few more. I was quite exhausted by the end but still happy that it all went well. Ah now just me to have one if I can be bothered to make one!!

We did have one complaint! At midnight I said that we should shut the windows and come inside not to disturb the neighbours. The next day she asked my why I had shut the doors as she was enjoying the music!! Wonder how many pancakes I have made over the years?? They have to be beautifully thin crepes and sizzlingly hot. Ah well success to all you pancake makers today.

Well the sun is looking a bit brighter and hopefully with the aid of the shower and painkillers I will be creaking a bit less by the time I need to leave. I had planned last night to do quite a bit of sorting out this morning to keep my mind off the appointment, but I think it is going to take me all my time to just be ready and the basic tidying of kitchen and washed up before I go. I do try to leave a tidy kitchen as usually quite weary when I get back and so need to be able to dump shopping or whatever, make a much needed coffee and collapse in a heap!!

Bellasnana well done for finally getting the passport sorted. You have been having a tough time lately, hope you can now put your feet up and have a bit of a break at some time.
grandMattie, good to hear of a little improvement and hope it continues. fingers crossed for more good news from the eye hospital.
Mike enjoy your trip and hope the beer festival provides you with something worth drinking, and of course you are on the bus so no problems with drink and drive unless you have to take care getting on and off the bus.
Karmalady, well done for giving them all the tools. I am sure that now you have felt able to pass them on you will be feeling happy to know what good use they will make of them and you will know that your good deed is passing on even more to enable more things being done for others. I enjoy reading about your gardening things. Miss my garden and the actual gardening but follow your doings with interest.
FGT love the idea of ladies who wine, but I also thought of it as ladies who whine too!! It sounds a good title for a group I go to , where we get together and listen to problems of transport round the town and in the wider area. We get together and then meet up with the bus people and the council to try and sort things out for the better. So I think I need to take a bottle the next time and suggest we rename ourselves as the LWW!!

Blimey folks the time is rushing by and it has been good to sit here and calm down a bit, so once more unto the breach dear friends and hope for things to go well today. I shall defintely be awarding myself a large coffee if not something more when I get back. oh just seen a bit of fun, a pigeon was wandering along the branches of the tree , no doubt wishing there were leaves on it to think of nesting, when the squirrel took umbrage and ran along the fence and then up the tree towards the bird, who flew higher up the tree leaving the squirrel victorious on the lower branches, and it has run along and back a few times so is obviously staking his claim.

Well hope you are all able to stake a claim to as good a day as you can have and may your pancakes toss well and land flat!!

Good morning all from a sunny Black country could get used to this nice weather.
Today DH has a dental appointment as it's the other side of the city will probably call into my brothers on the way.
Sar53 that sounds painful I hope your journey home goes smoothly.
No pancakes here I don't like them and DH not to bothered, I did make them for DS when he was younger and at home.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Wishing all a good. day especially those with illnesses or injuries to cope with.

A late wake up for us in sunny Suffolk where the pots of tete-a-tete daffodils seem to have bloomed overnight. Wish I could send a photo.

I haven’t yet read any posts but I hope all are well and today will be a good one.

I shall join DH on the dog walk and then enjoy reading ‘Conclave’ in the summerhouse. I have my monthly meeting tomorrow morning followed by lunch with a friend and then an early start on Thursday as I’ve been invited to go for lunch at the RAF club in Piccadilly where Sam Leith, literary editor of the Spectator is giving a talk.

Will hopefully catch up with all on Friday.

Good morning everyone from another bright and 🌞 day in Northampton. Frost sparkling on the front grass again.

Enjoyed my day at home yesterday; gently pottered, taking my time. Washed and dried the towels (in the tumble dryer) - looking forward to tomorrow when DS is coming down to put my new rotary washing line up, and I'll be able to dry outside again. Gave the kitchen and utility room a good clean, and washed the floors, which is my least favourite job.

Spent part of the afternoon on the phone to Nectar who very kindly and swiftly sorted out the problem with my stolen Nectar points and issued me with a new card, and re-instated the stolen points. I have now locked my account so that only I can redeem them.

Spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on the weekend newspapers.

Early lunch today then out to join our walking group which I expect will be busy today as the weather is so lovely.

Sorry to hear about your day yesterday Bellasnanna, but glad that everything got sorted in the end.
So sad to hear about Auntieflo, may she have a peaceful time in the hospice.

Wishing all a happy pancake day - must get some milk out of the freezer or I won't be able to make any!

Morning, brilliant sunshine in S Hants, I slept in past 8.
A wonderful donation karmalady
Ouch Sar you’ll be sore for a while.
What a horrible day Bella it must have been very frustrating for you, but you got there.
Yesterday was kitchen cleaning, online admin and then quiz, the crescent moon about 10:30 was glorious.
I’m hoping my friend will call in today for coffee and cake this morning, then I’ll be in the garden, light weeding and sowing beetroot. Tonight we’re out with our quiz team for a meal, a last birthday hurrah.

Good morning from a dry calm Co Armagh
Yesterday we had a lovely walk round Rowallen garden , it’s interesting to see the barebones of bones of the garden , we will be back later in the year to enjoy the lush planting
Today is tidy the house day ! I hope to samples a pancake or two !
Sorry to read of falls and botherations

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Mar-25 10:07:41

Yes madeleine our little group started on my retirement as I was able to come out more frequently, so 10 years on now! LWW is a take on the more well known Ladies Who Lunch. As it’s a weekly meet up we decided early on we could only afford the wine! 😂

hollysteers Tue 04-Mar-25 10:33:58

Good morning from Sunnyside sand dunes northwest coast.
Off to music club this afternoon so will have a warble. I made a birthday card for fellow singer yesterday but am unhappy with it. It’s a drawing of my cat, but the glue got out of hand and I made a border to cover it and now it looks messy to me. I might just pull a ready made card out of a drawer instead…

Had a letter saying I have unclaimed investments from DHs estate, but got in touch with my financial advisor as I don’t know if it’s kosher.
Flying daughter has a busy week, Amman today, then Washington and comes here on the 17th. Her best friend’s father has died so she will be back to be with her. They go back a long way.

I’m reading Antonia Fraser’s book “Must You Go?” about her life with Harold Pinter. Mildly interesting. I’m a veritable bookworm, with Noel Coward’s diaries, Elizabeth Gaskell’s letters, Our Village, Miss Mitford, Diary of a Bookseller, Voyage round the Queen, Craig Brown, Henry Miller and a Miss Read on the go. Found myself the other week making a connection by train without a book, phone dead and therefore kindle likewise and nearly had a breakdown. I now carry a paperback as a back up.

Thoughts to Auntieflo Bellasnana Sar and all🌺

Blossoming Tue 04-Mar-25 10:58:42

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. I have had some good news this morning. The youngest of my nieces, the baby of her generation, is getting married next September. Something to look forward to. I will of course need a new dress! I’m very sleepy this morning although I slept well, I have a hospital appointment tomorrow at 10am so I will need to get up earlier.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Mar-25 11:15:28

Hope your hospital appointment tomorrow is reassuring Blossoming. You’ll have to give the birds a shake. x

Good afternoon, Michael12 and everyone!

I had another spooky experience at my house last night!

I always keep my shoes in the livingroom by the door, on the left, there's a radiator on the wall by the door so the shoes are always in front of that.

I came home earlier and took my shoes off and put them by the door as always and walked around bare foot. I know for SURE I left them there as I absolutely always do.

Went to bed. Woke up about 2:12am to open the livingroom and bedroom windows as I was boiling hot .... menopause is a beast! ...

Was just about to go in to the livingroom and found my jet black right shoe on the floor in the front of the livingroom doorway as if someone had walked it there while the other shoe was in it's normal position!

I put it back in it's place.

Got up about 8am to find the left one was now in place of the right one, again, like it had walked there!

I've had these weird various experiences since I moved in years ago and they never fail to make me laugh!

At one point I even put in a video in the bedroom and one in the livingroom thinking maybe I was sleep walking and doing things without knowing but there's never been any sign of me doing such things and various incidents have never appeared on the videos, it seems the ghostie's know when the videos are active and when not!
