International Women's Day Saturday 8 March

My eldest GS had to go to an assembly on Women's Day he said it seemed to be mainly about how awful men are and how women are angels to put up with them. I don't entirely agree with this sentiment although there is a grain of truth in it.

I also read today that one in eight women who are murdered by men are over 70 and that domestic violence involving men beating up women and children is on the increase.

I am not anti all men, there are plenty of really good men around but I worry about the toxic manosphere and the negative influence it can have on young men as well as on women. I have 3 GSs so it is particularly concerning to me.

International men's day is on 19 November in case anyone thinks that only women have their own day.

Churchview

Reform's Rupert Lowe has been reported to the police by his own party chairman. The party received complaints from two female employees about "serious bullying" in Mr Lowe's office.

They reveal the complaints were made to Parliamentary authorities, and say they received evidence of workplace bullying.

These included "evidence of derogatory and discriminatory remarks made about women, including reference to a perceived disability."

This is where other men have to step up and report this kind of misogynistic behaviour rather than turning a blind eye.
When Greg Wallace was busy being a sex pest there were other men around him who must have seen his behaviour over the years but kept their heads down. Men have to tackle this because women are sick and tired of trying to turn the tide and being called a raving feminist or WOKE.

Sorry Churchview I know that in the case you mention Lowe was reported.
This should happen as a matter of course, and when reported those reports must be taken seriously and not just ignored.

I agree with you Babs03. Nihal Arthanayake has said something similar on Instagram today. www.instagram.com/p/DG3_SScsx2y/

I always find it interesting that some men are 'cancelled' as soon as anything happens and others are allowed to thrive.
Boy George, Woody Allen, their careers carry on, what they did was about a thousand times worse than the Gregg wallaces of this world.

I suppose you don't have to be a feminist, or even a woman, to appreciate IWD just mindful of the contribution that women all over the world make to all aspects of life on earth.

I just hope that come November 19 IMD is seen in a similar light and not a vehicle for promoting misogyny.

I love that March 8th is International Women's Day, partly because it also happens to be my birthday.
Here’s to strong women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

We need to raise good sons with good attitudes. I have two lovely adult sons who abhor the likes of Andrew Tate & his ilk. It really helped that their Dad is a great role model.

Isn't it time we started giving girls/women lessons in self defence? At the same time teach ALL young boys to treat the opposite sex with courtesy and respect. We must stop this violence that women are going through

Please tell me why you are so glad that there are more female doctors than male doctors. Surely,
a 50/50 ratio is fair.

Churchview Sat 08-Mar-25 20:32:19

mabon1 The percentage of women doctors is 50.04% which is pretty much representative of the female/male ratio of the general population.

There is research to show that patients treated by women doctors have better health outcomes. The mortality rate for patients treated by women doctors is lower.

One reason for this is thought to be that women are socialised to be better listeners.

In 1965 only 25% of doctors were women
Today it's double that. Surely that's a reason to be glad?

Our practice is majority male doctors. The wait to see one of the two female GPs is about 8-12 weeks. All the doctors are thorough but the women better listeners, more empathic
