Good morning from Malta where the high is expected to reach 25°C today! I fear I’m overdressed but the mornings are chilly.

I got up at 2am to watch the tennis and it was worth getting up for.

I’m now off to look after the boys. They were on good form yesterday.

Hope you will all have a good day.☀️

Good morning from a dry Bristol. Mint did rain most of the morning.
In the afternoon, (at last) I decided to assemble “wings” for the two DGDs for a dance with Flamingo ?chicks, a groups which organises dancing for physically disabled youngsters.
During this, there came a flurry, a positive blizzard of texts from various residents complaining about the lack of action from the management regarding repairs. Some have been waiting for over 3G years for minor things. But what tipped the balance was that tiles came off a roof in early December and still nothing has been done and no date for repairs has been set.
Some of us have decided to write to the big cheese with a polite letter of complaint, setting out the problems, the length of time since the original verbal or written request was made and the urgency.
In January, we were sent a letter stating that repairs would be done within 20 days depending on the urgency. As if! More to the point, our already large “service charge” has gone up by £20 pcm.
The natives are revolting. A meeting will take place this afternoon to list the complaints and write a letter.
My hair salon is early this afternoon, said meeting late afternoon, a church prayer thing in the evening…
I shall also be baking for three different events this week. I shall be cream crackered!
My love and hugs to those in distress and illness. Carpe diem ❤️🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, the pavement and road look wet in the streetlights and it’s going to be cooler today according to the weather forecast.
A very ordinary day yesterday here, nothing much happened except I tidied the cupboard under the sink. Annoyingly there’s not a fully closed back to it so several spray bottles had fallen through the gap; I managed to reach three (!) so I definitely have more than enough cleaning sprays 🙄 At least it’s tidier now.
My new bank card still hasn’t arrived, our post is so unreliable here there’s no saying how long it will be before I get it. I’m using DH’s card for petrol today, luckily we’re well stocked up food-wise.
I’m waiting for the adoption papers for the little dog too, so looking forward to getting her, hopefully this weekend? Plans to have a few days away have been postponed, the weather’s not looking great and DH isn’t keen.

Wishing you all the best 🌹

Good Morning from Durham. Wet and very cold outside.
I’ve been awake since 2.30am having had an early night at 11pm. Not my best idea, but at least no weird dreams.
Some food shopping this morning, then a chiropody appointment this afternoon.

I’ll come back and read later posts, meanwhile

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all. 1deg. dry and sunny is today’s forecast in Glasgow.

I have a GP appointment this afternoon as I would like to check in with her re. my sciatica status, does it need further investigation ? I am hoping she has a solution as it’s really getting me down now.
As it was too cold to spend any time in the garden, I spent a couple of hours out in the garden room yesterday reading, very cosy with the heating on.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a better day hopefully for those with ongoing difficulties whatever they may be.

karmalady Tue 11-Mar-25 06:20:46

Good morning from s somerset, sunny, bright and cloudy today and colder

GM your management company is very poor. If there are a few do-ers then the whole group of residents can take over the management but it takes a willingness. You can then do the jobs that need doing and you won`t be waiting for the roof timbers to get rotten in the rain plus there is no profit involved

I am still pottering here and seeing good results, looking tidy now and every so often I do a little de-clutter. I would like to maybe factor in a walk about town this morning

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Mar-25 06:29:50

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and dry. I might need to scrape the car. GrandMattie that's shocking service.
Yesterday was a reasonable day. The boys were very good. I worked in the school library for a couple of hours then home. I received a phonecall from the care home and the woman was lovely. However I explained I didn't yet have a certificate of guardianship and therefore couldn't access mum's bank account. That put a stop to the whole thing. The social worker phoned me later to say mum wasn't moving on Wednesday and I've to let them know when I get the certificate. If they had contacted me in the first place, none of this would have happened!
Today will be a quiet day once I've dropped off the boys. Just general housework. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Shropshire.A chilly start today.

We are going to Liverpool today for lunch at The Ivy courtesy of DD2.

Glad you managed to speak to someone and things are sorted Grandmabatty.

Thinking of all struggling.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 11-Mar-25 06:42:20

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I was in bed just after 8 pm last night as I couldn’t keep my eyes open! I did a Waitrose shop in the morning and was then exhausted.

I should have been setting off for London today for a day school at the V&A on women painters. I realised that I couldn’t manage all the travelling so contacted them about doing it online. Fortunately I am able to. So the day will be spent perched in front of my pc!

OH will probably spend the day fretting about his operation tomorrow. He had a chest x-Ray yesterday (nothing to do with his op) and I suggested he pop into the nearby M&S to buy some new pyjamas. Not a hope! He used to be happy for me to buy most of his clothes but these days he seems happy to wear things until they are in rags! His pjs are a disgrace. At least one of us is keeping the clothing industry alive.

Have a good day everyone.

RosieandherMaw Tue 11-Mar-25 06:59:25

Good morning everybody from crisp but clear N Bucks. It’s forecast to be cold but quite sunny which should be pleasant enough.
I am feeling rather better than 50 years ago when I was looking forward to being a mother again, our first baby boy having died at 3 weeks, 18 months earlier.
(Looking forward but pretty terrified if I am being honest).
D1 was born by elective C section shortly after 9 and whisked away to be checked over extra thoroughly by the same team who had delivered our little boy.
Anxious moments.
And now she is 50 . You will know the feeling - where did those years go?
Looking forward to meeting up with BlueSapphire later this morning, shopping and lunch might feature!
Wishing you all a pleasant day and relief and respite to those in pain or distress.

Greyduster Tue 11-Mar-25 07:03:08

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy, cool South Yorkshire where it may or may not rain, depending on which forecast you look at.
Yesterday, sans car, and it being too windy to work outside, I threw myself into much needed jobs around the house and also made a large pan of chilli, some of which I shall eat this evening. DS and DiL face timed in the evening for a chat. I hate face time but was glad to talk to them.
Volunteering this afternoon. Hopefully I shall be able to walk to school and back.
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Tue 11-Mar-25 07:04:09

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

I have a singing lesson this morning and dh has a volunteer drive so we need to be up and ready early.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Mar-25 07:06:39

Morning from S EvEssex, spring is over it’s grey and chilly here.

Nothing exciting on the cards today, I need to sort out the washing.

Then negotiate the fridge and freezers which have been DH’s domain for the past five weeks 😳

Keep safe folks 🙋‍♀️

GrannyIvy Tue 11-Mar-25 07:11:23

Good morning from a bright cold Cambridgeshire.
Yesterday I managed to cycle 10 miles on my electric bike (its first outing for around six months). Not a lot happening here today, need to catch up on housework and then the school pick up at 3.15 and enjoyable chaos for a couple of hours.
I have managed to lose 5 lbs in weight over the last two weeks and seem to spend a lot if time thinking about food and what (not) to eat. The aim is to fit into my summer wardrobe for my holiday in May!

Happy Tuesday to all 💐

Marydoll Tue 11-Mar-25 07:16:12

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is a chilly -1°C.

A very sad day on GN yesterday. Auntieflo was a good GN friend to me and actually messaged me last week from her hospital bed. 😪 R,I,P. She is at peace now.

A PM popped into my inbox yesterday, from Ben, who had noticed my post on the exorcism thread and would be interested in discussing my experiences.
Sorry, Ben, I won't be engaging.

I laughed when I saw Borrheid's post yesterday, about seeing me on the church livestream camera. Thank goodness the mics were off! 🤣
As I stated, I have a special dispensation for walking and talking on altars.😉

I was actually discussing parish business. The Gospel readings, Psalms etc. have changed, (a directive from Rome) and the Lectionaries we have are no longer suitable. It is driving the parishioners and sacristans mad, because they cannot follow in their current Sunday Missals. Consequently, I am taking orders for the up-to-date Missals . As soon, as I state a cut off date and the order is sent, despite having three weeks to order, I can bet that someone will complain that they haven't had enough time and will demand we order one for them.

It was very cold yesterday, but I forced myself out into the garden and spent an hour, tidying up my herbs. I was delighted to see all my strawberry plants are springing to life. I felt better for being in the fresh air.

An early start for me this morning, my car is going in for its first service. DH will follow me to the dealership, it would require two buses and a walk for me to get back home.
I have persuaded him to take me to Asda, but methinks taking me to TKMaxx is a bit too much to ask!! 🤣

This afternoon, I have an appointment at the surgery, where I will once again be interviewed by medical students about one of my conditions. When I got the call, the receptionist said that it was for a different condition this time.. There are so many to choose from.. 🤣
I have asked the dealership if I can have my car back by lunchtime, but they cannot guarantee it. DH is going to be a very busy man, today. 😉

Hopefully, our roof will be repaired today and the ugly scaffolding will come down. GM, that is apppalling service from the management team. I would be up in arms too. They seem to have the residents over a barrel.

I will wish you all a pleasant day. DH is champing at the bit and hassling me to hurry up!

Hoping the poorlies and sad have a gentle day.

monk08 Tue 11-Mar-25 07:16:55

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Was woke up just after 6am by the bin men moving the bins to the pavement edge.
Snap RosesandLilac I tidied beneath my sink in the utility room, I'm another who now has more than enough cleaning sprays.
Will take a trip to the garden centre deli there a few things we need and they have some nice cards and I have a few special occasions coming up.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

Redcar Tue 11-Mar-25 07:18:45

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright out and is chilly at 4 degrees outside. A colder day is forecast today. I had to post a parcel yesterday so walked to the post office using the rollator, then carried on walking round the village. It’s a longer walk for me, but I felt it was progress as it’s over a mile. A friend called in for coffee after she’d visited our friend with dementia.my car has it’s MOT today, fingers crossed there aren’t any major problems.
grandmabatty good the care home issue has been sorted out for now, but the problem and worry for you could have been easily avoided with better communication!
llfl I hope you enjoy your day in front of the computer and that you don’t doze off during the day!
Have the best day possible everyone, keep warm!

madeleine45 Tue 11-Mar-25 07:22:17

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a damp but bright tuesday morning here in North Yorkshire. It is quite light and already quite a few birds, mostly pigeons inspecting the tree here. They seem to be checking out branches for nesting ideas, but as there are no leaves at all yet, they just wander up and down looking. No sign of the squirrel this morning so no thing to disturb them.

Well today is the day. I am up , clean and ready with paperwork etc as no idea when the car will arrive. Not had a phone call about that yesterday. The day was not helped by waking up shouting with awful cramp in my leg at 4.20am, but at least gave me something else to think about!! So I have had to be careful not to set it off again, and just hope it doesnt decide to come back when she is in the middle of the operation!!!

This dreadful crash of two ships in the north sea will be so polluting to the sea, the wildlife and the long term effects are dreadful to think about. When things are in containers, on the one hand they can be safer, easier to move and less likely to have anything stolen, but on the other hand something like this means large amounts of unknown contents will have a lot more affect than individual things and also the contents of different containers can have even worse effect if it reacts to another container with another large amount of something. Very sad that it looks as though one crew may have died. They are missing still. A sad day.

Well I hope you are all having a better day than this.
grandMattie, could you make a long list with photos showing all the faults with the date you reported them and then both prints some of the lists and if you think it is safe to do so put them on line? As I see it, if you are merely showing the exact facts of the situation the management cant accuse you of slander or whatever and it should give them a wake up call, and make everyone aware of their shortcomings? Publicity in these sorts of cases might be useful, as they cannot pretend they have dealt with the problems, nor complain that you are not telling the truth or that it is one person causing trouble. So strength in numbers might work. Hope so. Good luck and let us know how things go.

Hells bells. The message I sent through the office did not get to the driver and he has arrived early, but said he is happy to wait. Well at least I know he is coming!!

Have a good day everyone

BlueSapphire Tue 11-Mar-25 07:28:32

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton; going to be chilly again today, so will need to wrap up warm as time will be spent waiting around for buses.

I have a need to speak to my bank manager so yesterday decided to phone for an appointment; well, first of all her personal phone number didn't work; next I tried ringing the branch only being directed to a call centre with someone who didn't seem to know what they were doing.
Then I decided I would actually visit the branch; there I found out that appointments were no longer available, you just had to actually turn up and wait to see.the manager.
Of course yesterday (Monday) was the only day she doesn't work!
So I have the rest of the week to choose from - but I can actually only do Thursday afternoon this week. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Out today to Milton Keynes where I am meeting the lovely Maw, and as she says lunch and shopping may feature! 🍷🛍🍝 Mustn't forget my order to return to M&S. Ordered a lovely top, it fitted well, but the style just didn't suit me.

Take care everyone and hope.the day goes well.

monk08 Tue 11-Mar-25 07:29:14

Madeleine hope all goes well for today and no return of the cramp💐.

RosesandLilac Tue 11-Mar-25 07:29:58

Marydoll I had to block ben, a very strange person……

cornergran Tue 11-Mar-25 07:33:13

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is dry after rain late yesterday. Maybe some sun later.

More photo processing yesterday after a break from them. Mid 2021 now, it feels like the final stretch. Filled in the surgery form, should get a response tomorrow.

Grocery delivery this morning , a hair cut with dust removal in between. A visit from our granddaughters to look forward to later. The elder will drive her sister who is 16 today. Nope, no idea how that happened. There were celebrations with her friends at the weekend with more to come next weekend. We’ve opted out of a meal this evening, an inaccessible to us location with very expensive food we don’t enjoy. The family understand as does the birthday gir.

Letter writing is a good place to start grandmattie, although you shouldn’t need to. If still no success it could be worth enlisting the support of your MP and perhaps the local press. Good luck!

Have the best day you can everyone.

BlueSapphire Tue 11-Mar-25 07:37:46

So sorry to hear the sad news about AuntieFlo. May she rest in peace.

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Mar-25 07:40:04

Morning, high cloud and cooler in S Hants. Average day on the voluntary phone yesterday, in between calls I cleaned the oven, hob and microwave. Quiz was good last night, but our team was depleted by two, we scraped fourth.
Farm shop, collecting some plants and pharmacy later, good luck Madeleine for today
