I bought a ticket today. 🤞
Have you?

Ah well, I won’t bother again.
It just shows how unlikely a win is when one imagines the multi millions which must have been bought.

Blimey escaped!

Yes I agree uttb and yet that very clever enticement “you’ve got to be in it to win it” niggles!

I will keep my fingers crossed for your passports FGT2 despite your lack of text message from the PO.

I’ve never bought a lottery ticket but I can see the appeal and it’s a bit of excitement waiting.
It’s the same with Premium Bonds.
Two people win one million each month and their money is safe.
I know that statistically I am highly unlikely to win, but then the two folk who win each month are also equally unlikely.

Didn’t somebody win once with well under £100 invested?

Usedtobeblonde Sat 22-Mar-25 10:42:27

I like the frisson at the beginning of each month on checking my premium bonds.
I know all about the capital losing value with inflation but I am 87 and the time of life I have been saving for is here now.
I don’t need to save anymore, I can spend if I like.

I wouldn’t like to win that, think of all the hassle that would go winning that much.
I’d be happy with just enough to sort my family out 😊

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 22-Mar-25 10:53:45

Or just give it away and sort loads of families out?
That’s what I’d do.
Not micromanage to individuals just donate a huge lump sum for them to share out as they see best.
I’m too old and CBA to invest. I’d spend it all as best I could by sharing and donating!

Hope those passports arrive today FGT that will seem like a win for you.

I just wouldn’t want to be responsible for who gets what. Maybe always thinking I could have done better with it. I suppose, yes, give it to a few big charities and let them sort it out. But then all the little ones crying out for funds - no, it’d drive me mad. And goodness knows I’m halfway there already.

DH and I have just had to decide which one local charity got an £800 grant. We plumped for the food bank, but I’m feeling so bad when I now see heart rending appeals from the Baby Bank…

Saying that would like to buy our local hospital extra equipment & especially scanning machines- now that would be great 😊

Such a win could do so much good.
I agree it could be stressful. I’d just have to ‘get rid of it’ asap then I’d not be tying myself in knots.
Says the woman who if she finds 10p in her pocket has to spend it.

Still no winners! £202 million jackpot up for grabs on Friday!

Allsorts Wed 26-Mar-25 05:53:20

Only ever bought about five since it started so I wont win.

grandMattie Wed 26-Mar-25 06:09:39

Rather than so very much money, I have always felt there should either be a smaller jackpot - say £5m - or several jackpots…
