Good morning from N Bucks where it is beautifully sunny. Exactly 43 years ago D 3 was christened on Mothering Sunday , also a lovely day, and it seemed appropriate!
Met up with her yesterday to go to The Years at the Harold Pinter. Powerful play about the decades of being a woman at different stages in her life, reflecting what the author has lived through (in France, 40’s-nearly present day) covering adolescence, sex, rape, abortion, marriage, divorce, becoming a grandmother, being alone)
So very much about the changes in a woman’s “ lot” Much for the audience to empathise with.
There was the inevitable hiatus when the production was paused to allow ushers to see to somebody taken unwell - apparently it happens most nights as there are some powerful moments.
A meal afterwards with D2 as well, their husbands and 3 little boys.
I got home after 9 to find the dishwasher had got gummed up, stuck just into the cycle and needed emptying, the filter clearing, pumping out and restarting while I watched anxiously. They didn’t feature that aspect of this woman’s life in the play!
Not the best night to miss an hours sleep as London, especially the West End, always wipes me out.
Meeting another friend on her own today for coffee and no doubt cake at a local “Emporium” and garden centre, then I’ll be FaceTiming GS1 for his French lesson.
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.
