Good morning from a dark, chilly Bristol.
Happy Mothering Sunday to all.
Me too, it takes me the better part of a week to readjust, but as I wake up very early, perhaps it would be better if I didn’t!
The concert last night was fabulous. There were three soloists, girls of around 15 playing the violin, oboe and flute. The Bach trumpet was gorgeous as usual.
I also helped to make what felt like several hundred posies for the service today at my own church. I’m going to DD’s church though, then to lunch there.
I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday with their families today. Carpe diem ❤️🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a dry Torbay with sunshine but windy conditions expected later.

A super concert, grandMattie with a lovely day planned today.

Happy Mothering Sunday to all mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, godmothers, adoptive mothers, foster mothers and all who play a mothering role, perhaps to one's own elderly mother, as some do who contribute here.

A blessed Sunday to all.🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good morning from s somerset, a glorious day today with much sun

I did my cycle ride yesterday, past old orchards, it was lovely, two hours and I was back home for lunch. I spent part of the day in the garden and then knitted mouche until bedtime. I feel very relaxed

Some garden prep today and maybe I will put preservative on my two wooden benches

Have a good day

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A grey start in South Yorkshire but it doesn’t seem so windy this morning. I slept badly. Yesterday with the York contingent of my family went well. We had a nice lunch in one of our local pubs. Pity it was too cold and breezy for a walk - it’s a lovely spot. In the late afternoon the gardener I use came to give me a quote for cutting the two lawns and another job I’d like him to do. Needless to say he’s busy at the moment. I’ll be able to hide giraffes in the grass soon. It’s long and very tussocky so it needs his heavy duty mower.
DD and the menfolk are coming over this afternoon. She is bringing a casserole. I’ll provide the pudding.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a cloudy Malta where showers and a high of 14°C are forecast for today.

Wishing a happy Mothering Sunday to all UK mums. We don’t celebrate here until the second Sunday in May.

I did very little yesterday and I think today might be a pajama day as I really feel weary.

Had some lovely photos of DGD who has been spending her Spring Break week with her aunt (DD1) in DC. She was in time to see the beautiful cherry blossoms and had a fun-packed stay. DD1 is a wonderful aunt. I do miss them though and under the present circumstances I do not feel inclined to visit.

Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning all from North Leicestershire.

Both sons will pop in today but apart from that we will have a quiet day - very welcome after shopping with Persie yesterday.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Kalu Sun 30-Mar-25 07:13:10

Good morning all. Dry and sunny today in Glasgow but high winds still present which makes the day feels colder.

A landscape gardener will be here this morning to give me a quote for some changes I would like in the garden.
DD1 and the girls will be here later for lunch.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Mar-25 07:33:36

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Happy Mothering Sunday.

I received two beautiful bouquets yesterday from my sons and my daughter bought me chocolate and a copy of the Suffragette manifesto!

OH, daughter and I are going out for lunch to one of my favourite restaurants. They do Steak Diane. We'll then drive daughter to the station and she’ll go back to London.

Have a good day everyone. It looks like a lovely day outside.

GrannySomerset Sun 30-Mar-25 07:37:30

Lovely flowers yesterday from both children but won’t see them today. I am grateful for the amount of time they are able to give me as distance makes visiting so time consuming for them but hope all GNetters who are spending time with their DC have a happy day.

Sarahr Sun 30-Mar-25 07:42:21

Happy Mothering Sunday, especially to all those Nanna's and Mum's who are on their own today. Much love to you all.

Good morning, a lovely sunny start here in south Glos.
I slept badly 🙄, I was aching after a long dog walk yesterday afternoon along quiet lanes, fields and woodland, absolutely beautiful and soul restoring in the sunshine.
I very happily sat and did some sketching in my ‘shed’ with tiddler sleeping in the sunshine, so peaceful until she started snoring 😄
Big dog and h she are getting on well together, plenty of fuss for Annie and yesterday morning I walked Annie alone with our neighbours whowe little dog is her best friend.
A lovely day all round.
Today nothing planned except beef for dinner with all the usual bits, the usual dog walks and time in the garden doing some weeding.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Redcar Sun 30-Mar-25 07:49:10

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, another lovely sunny start to the day here. All clocks changed, apart from the one on the cooker, which defeats me every time! One of my DDs will do it when they call in today. It will take me several days to get used to the change of time.
A quiet day yesterday, my back was vey stiff so I didn’t want to make it worse. I took the cover off the garden table and put the cover in the shed but I may need to get another one for next Then just pottered around for the rest of the day.
Both DDs will call in today in between the grandchildren’s various activities, it will be good to see them. Later I’ll have my usual weekly catchup phone call with a friend I’ve know since we were little. I doubt she’ll see either of her sons today although one lives close by.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all and happy Mothering Sunday .💐.

Yesterday Dd treated me to afternoon tea at a beautifully themed venue. It was a Bridgerton theme. (They change it often.) Food and service excellent and I treated us to a cocktail. 🍸🍹.

Today ds1 and DIL will come round for coffee and cake and Dd and dgd6 will come for a roast dinner. DS2 sent a Mother in a million rose bush and a lovely card . He will FaceTime later.
I’m very grateful to have a loving family and don’t take this for granted. Thinking of others who aren’t so fortunate 💐.

Hoping you all have a lovely day, whatever it brings. ❤️

Grammaretto Sun 30-Mar-25 07:51:37

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Thanks for the reminder of the changing clocks.
The sun is shining.

Yesterday was freezing.
I picked some daffodils for an exhibition on old varieties. My house once belonged to a collector so there
are some rare specimens.

This afternoon and early evening there's a concert and farewell party for our wonderful art centre.
End of an era.😞

Have a lovely Mother's day everyone.

Good morning everybody from Málaga where the sun’s up already. Another gorgeous day in prospect. We bumped into friends on Thursday in Arroyo. They’ve lived out here since just before Covid struck and own a bar on the dual carriageway opposite the paseo, in Benalmadena. See pic - the view from there. We’ve arranged to call in for a couple of hours this afternoon. They have a huge terraced area but plenty of parasols so we can easily find a shady spot. I just like to tan my legs and lower arms these days and always keep my face out of the sun or wear Factor50 if I’m strolling about in the sun. 🌞

GrannyGravy13 Sun 30-Mar-25 07:59:25

Good morning, happy Mothering Sunday 💐 to all the wonderful mothers and those who mother others 💐

DD and her boys are coming this morning then she is going to her friends for lunch (their youngest are in the same year at school). DH and I are going to AS4 for the afternoon and a late lunch, he is a good cook, so DiL and I will be spoilt 💙

The sun is shining, the birds are singing 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Sun 30-Mar-25 08:08:17

Good morning everyone from a bright dry Inverness but it still feels cold
Gorgeous pictures Bellas and Grammaretto thanks for sharing
I’ll be going round to DD2s soon, she’s off to the gym so I’m just keeping an eye on the DGC whilst she’s out
If you’re meeting up with family today hope everyone has a lovely time
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Mar-25 08:10:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and beautifully sunny. I hope it lasts. FGT your trips to Fuengirola and Benalmadena bring back such happy memories for me. I really like Spain.
Yesterday I went for lunch with dd Dsil and his mum and dgs2. It was very nice and dgs2 behaved beautifully - not always the case! Because I had two glasses of wine, I fell asleep in the afternoon and achieved little of note the rest of the day. I finally received the guardianship certificate and a mountain of paperwork I have to do.
Today I have no plans except a visit to mum this afternoon. I shall quietly potter about the house and the garden. Have a good day all

EkwaNimitee Sun 30-Mar-25 08:14:57

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. Thankfully, last night's gale has died down, it was noisy all evening.
Yesterday, I popped out early for the paper and a walk through the park. Then it was back for a second breakfast and a long phone chat with my sister. In the afternoon I'd hoped to be out in the garden planting some of my new purchases but it had got cold, grey and windy so I chickened out and stayed in for a bit of reading and brain training.
Today, more reading of papers and magazines and, hopefully, gardening.

Have an enjoyable day all of you if you can.

Sallyforth Sun 30-Mar-25 08:15:53

Good morning from a bright sunny morning in Cheshire. It's saying 7C but feels more like 0. I went outside to check and it doesn't feel that cold. confused

The day will unfold as it sees fit. Nothing too arduous to do. My DD sent gifts which I opened first thing. She will arrive Wednesday to help me get my diet in order. Coping with candida and IBS is difficult and I get disheartened the thinner I get. Losing weight this way isn't good. She will insist on seeing a Dr which I hate.

Enjoy your Mother's Day and all the pampering on this special day. Best wishes also to those who for one reason or another won't see family today. flowers

N.B. Why is the big ad with the lady who has been miraculously rejuvenated appearing in the middle of my Good Morning thread? Can I get rid of it?

ginny Sun 30-Mar-25 08:18:17

Good Morning and Happy Mother’s Day.
I am being treated to tea later by my 3 DDs .
It’s.been a busy few days helping DD3 move house and all the cleaning that involved to get the new one habitable
It occurred to me last night that the best Mother’s Day present was seeing all three DDs working ,laughing and supporting each other . At the same time they were making sure that their Dad and I didn’t overdo it. How lucky we are.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Sun 30-Mar-25 08:21:33

Happy Mother's Day all. The sun is shining here in Glasgow, a good start to the day. I am another, who has received beautiful flowers from my family.
Special thoughts for those, who have lost children, a difficult day for them.💐

I felt very unwell during the night, so I plan to have a gentle day.
Without intending to sound overdranatic, I was quite scared, fearing I was going to spend Mother's Day in Coronary Care! It caught me by surprise, it is ages since I have had a heart episode. Why does it always happen in the darkest hours of the night?
Not surprisingly, Mr MD, was oblivious. That man would sleep through an earthquake.😉 He is horrified, that he didn't waken up.

I want to acknowledge the kindness of Gransnetters, some with whom, I have never interacted, but have reached out to me in recent days. 💕 Thank you!

Beautiful photo, Grammaretto

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

hollysteers Sun 30-Mar-25 08:25:17

Good morning from a breezy Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
My friend was rather under the weather for his stay, so apart from going out for a couple of meals, it was a quiet time. He left last night and I put my clocks forward, rather tired after hostessing.
Lovely card and chocolates from DD and quiet today too. The wind was bitter here yesterday
Thoughts to all🌺

RosieandherMaw Sun 30-Mar-25 08:25:26

Good morning from N Bucks where it is beautifully sunny. Exactly 43 years ago D 3 was christened on Mothering Sunday , also a lovely day, and it seemed appropriate!
Met up with her yesterday to go to The Years at the Harold Pinter. Powerful play about the decades of being a woman at different stages in her life, reflecting what the author has lived through (in France, 40’s-nearly present day) covering adolescence, sex, rape, abortion, marriage, divorce, becoming a grandmother, being alone)
So very much about the changes in a woman’s “ lot” Much for the audience to empathise with.
There was the inevitable hiatus when the production was paused to allow ushers to see to somebody taken unwell - apparently it happens most nights as there are some powerful moments.
A meal afterwards with D2 as well, their husbands and 3 little boys.
I got home after 9 to find the dishwasher had got gummed up, stuck just into the cycle and needed emptying, the filter clearing, pumping out and restarting while I watched anxiously. They didn’t feature that aspect of this woman’s life in the play!
Not the best night to miss an hours sleep as London, especially the West End, always wipes me out.
Meeting another friend on her own today for coffee and no doubt cake at a local “Emporium” and garden centre, then I’ll be FaceTiming GS1 for his French lesson.
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.
