Good morning from sunny Suffolk where the daffodils are taking a bit of a hit from a stiff breeze. It seems to happen e dry March.
DS and tribe plus their dog popping over( his phrase. although it’s nearly 40 miles) this morning for a snack. I haven’t seen them for a few weeks but they popped over to see DH when I was in Bradford last weekend. DDs who both live a couple of hundred miles away at different sides of the country sent me flowers yesterday and they will be doing things with their own children.
Hope all have a happy Mothering Sunday. DD2 always finds it difficult to find a card with those words on since most, she says, say happy Mother’s Day. My mother would have been 103 and it is 10 years since I last bought one although I remember her wonderful mothering every day.

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.
A lovely afternoon and evening at DD's for afternoon tea. Sandwiches, Quiche, nibbles, cake, cheesecake (made my DGD4) and Nosecco (alcohol free Processco). DGD4 (13) is off to Canada in a couple of weeks ski-ing with school. Apparently DGD2 (16) is going to The Gambia for a week next January with college to do voluntary work! They are not the little girls I so fondly remember, all growing up so fast.
Today we are off to DS's where they are cooking us Sunday lunch. It is a good hour to drive over there, will pick Mum up on the way.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Good morning everyone and happy Mothering Sunday from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton. All clocks successfully changed!
Yesterday was lovely and sunny, but a chilly wind, though I still went out to the shops without a coat, just a thick jumper, first time this.year!
Had planned on cutting the back grass when I got.back, but the Saturday newspapers beckoned as well as Womens Rugby Six Nations, Wales v England. A good match and an easy win for England!
Today am going for lunch at DD's; DS and family will pick me up at lunchtime. It's the first time we have all celebrated Mothers Day together; usually it's just with DD and her DH, and DS had always done his own thing with his partner and their DDs. Will chill a bottle of fizz to take with me.
Some good news this week - DGD1 has been made deputy head girl at her school! That girl will go far!
Some lovely pictures on the thread this morning - thank you to the posters.
Wishing all a lovely day.
Good Morning from Durham. Happy Mother’s Day. There’s an icy blue sky, brilliant sun, but it’s blowing a hoolie and very cold. Is it March that goes out like a lion?
I’m going out for lunch with DD1 and family today. She’s suggested I stay over, but I’m dithering, as they’ll be up and away first thing, although I’m tempted so I can enjoy a glass of wine.
DD2 came over last night, but I’m not to open her gift until I’ve opened DD1’s - as it’s a joint sort of thing. I hope they haven’t gone overboard - flowers would be more than enough.
Best wishes to all. X
Best wishes
I hope having a quiet day goes to plan MD. Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell through the night.
Good morning from a very windy NE.
It was very difficult to sleep even with earplugs in.
It was late when DS and GD left and I forgot to change the clocks so only my bedside one is done at present. I hate doing the oven clocks as my two ovens are side by side and I can never synchronise them.
DD has to travel to Prague today as there is a strike tomorrow, lost half her weekend because of work again.
Going to have a lazy day as there will be no visitors.
Have a good day.
Georgesgran, it’s “in like a lion, out like a lamb” but I think the lion ate the lamb somewhere along the way this year😁!
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a sunny but very windy and chilly north yorkshire. Wishing you all a happy Mothering sunday.
Do you know that saying "Take what you want -- and pay for it!" Well that is very true for me today. I am really struggling with a lot of pain and it has taken me until now to feel able to even type. Ah well it may be a problem physically , but mentally it is worth it! Yesterday I did manage to go to Harlow Carr in Harrogate. They had said that I could reserve a buggy to go round, but that it would be busy and that there are few disabled parking places , which I need. So it was a case of up early, getting the things sorted for the car, making a picnic up and so forth and getting off, collecting my Yorkshire post on the way. I had the back seat covered with raincoat, big jacket, spare jumper etc as it was quoted mixed weather and set off. I had a reasonable trip down and enjoyed seeing the countryside and all the daffodils etc and got there about 9 ish, and was able to get the last disabled bay. Lots of families for the springshow.
So got myself sorted and on the buggy (much slower than mine - really felt the difference) but it was lovely to have the chance to go right round the garden . I was pleased to be able to look everywhere and see what had changed and so forth. One change I was sorry about is that they had closed one path off, and that lead to an area where there were lots of hellebores and also some trilliums, so will miss them for a while. It is definitely a late spring and whilst there was a lot ot look at , as a regular visitor I could see how late lots of things were and somethings not out at all that could have been expected. Then down to look at the various stalls etc but my goodness how the prices have gone up!! It helped me to resist buying anything, which I needed to do. I am hoping a friend can help to organise the borders, things need sorting out before I put any plants in and the weather is still too cold to plant out yet anyway. We still have frosts at night.
So as I was on the outskirts I decided , on the way back to go into Harrogate for a look round and a coffee. A definite mistake and a lesson to learn. It was of course very busy being a saturday, and a problem parking, but what I had not got into my head, is how little I can really walk around.. When I got parked I knew there were some cafes on a road quite nearby, which previously have had little problem walking to. But it really took me a long time and with a couple of stops to get there. Perhaps this will teach my brain that I cant do as much as I used to!
Anyway, it was worth the effort, to get out and about. Today just staying at home and if this wind carries on , inside at that. I didnt do much sorting out when I got home, so today it will be going through things and putting stuff away. Checking one or two things for the car, so that I am now in trip ready mode whenever the fancy takes me. I am treating myself to a duck breast for dinner, which I like, and is not going to be a lot of standing up to cook it.
I always enjoy the radio, but especially on a sunday , and will be happy to hear desert island discs and private passions whilst I plod along and then this afternoon I must really get on with some practising of music as have a rehearsal tomorrow. If the wind drops I might manage a little bit of a walk or even who knows take a chair outside an sit in the sunshine.
Marydoll, do hope that you are feeling a little better now and can rest today.
Hope everyones plans work out well today and you enjoy seeing your families.
Morning from a sunny S Hants, Happy Mothering Sunday to all, I will visit my daughter for lunch later and see my son at some point.
I’m occupied as MrJ isn’t well, gastric flu a guess, he’s not eaten since Friday, taking loperamide, lots of water and the heating was on all day yesterday, he’s fed up.
I’ll nip out for meat draw later this afternoon and potter in the greenhouse

Thanks for that Greyduster. X
Good morning everyone, and Happy Mother's Day. It sounds as if we are all well recognised by our offspring. I have received beautiful flowers from DD and DS2, but as usual nothing from DS1! My two 'boys' are only 15 months apart in age but couldn't be more different if they tried 🤩. One is punctilious in everything he does, while the other is so laid back he's almost horizontal - and I adore them both!
I'm off soon to go for an al fresco late breakfast/lunch with DGD3 (an 80 mile drive for me first) and then this evening we're all having a Mother's Day dinner when DD and DGD1 get back from their little jolly in Amsterdam. I hope this wind doesn't blow them off course! March is certainly going out like a lion!
Congratulations to your DGD Bluesapphire! You are rightly proud,
Just looked at the clock and I must dash and get my stuff packed - even an overnight stay seems to involve so much!
Enjoy your day with your beautiful families, if not in person, then in thoughts and happy memories 💞
Good morning from a sunny midlands.
A lovely meal out last night for birthday and Mother’s Day with my eldest son and family. I’ve got a house full of flowers. A quiet day today. Maybe knitting.
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. It’s not the happiest of days for some but please know that you are all loved. 🤗❤️🌺
It’s now 10 years of being estranged from my daughter. I long for a card from her but it won’t happen. I love her. 🤗❤️
So much for being good at covering up, I am unwell. DD and SIL have appeared, to find me in bed!
She was quite upset.
However, as well as my beautiful flowers, DD and I will be going for afternoon tea, whe
n I feel up to it.
why why why 😪
A late good morning from the Black country where the sun is shining.
Happy Mother's Day enjoy your day if spending with your loved ones, not seeing DS had early meal with him and family Friday will see him tomorrow he is at his in-laws as there is a family birthday party to attend.
Lovely photos on here once again.
Marydoll sorry you had a bad night, my DH has slept through a minor earthquake and didn't believe me when I woke him until he heard the news.
Have a lovely day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good Morning from a bright and breezy Co Armagh, lovely Mass this morning , with the youth choir , very happy sound
Washing is flapping on the line , second load whirling in the machine
I have lovely flowers and new solar lights from my children
My landline was switched off and on during the digitisation! But I forgot to reset the alarm on it and didn’t think to check last night , so the alarm went off at 6 am new time !
Wishing everyone the best day they can get !
Good afternoon all,
Bright and breezy here today. The breeze is making it feel quite chilly.
Just got back from a lovely Mothering Sunday service Not many of us there and no children at all. Came away with a bunch of daffodils which was nice.
Coffee time now, then I’ll see. Too chilly to do anything in the garden today.
I hope those of you feeling unwell feel a little better as the day progresses, and Marydoll - I’m sorry to read you had a bad night. 💐
