Question About a 1948 Sunbeam Mixmaster Lemon Pie Recipe
Charles & Camilla flew out to Rome on a planned visit so they missed one another by mere hours. Harry obviously didn’t want to spend any time with them. He will have known of their itinerary. There are so few occasions when he does fly over now from Montecito. An opportunity lost, especially with his father’s health I think.
In the minds of many Annie but in reality .
In reality he left the royal family when his grandmother was Queen, no different to his six cousins, a minor royal

Harry is the king’s son, he served in our military. He’s surely more at risk than minor royals
Andrew is the son of the late Queen and served in the military too. He has to pay for his own security.

*Who’s to say we could successfully agree a) to have a republic?
or b) who should be the president if we did?*
We should be given the chance to decide. It's a ridiculous assumption we all want a monarchy.
No one (as far as I know) assumes we all want a monarchy.
In the same way that No one (as far as I know) assumes we all want a republic.
And what if we can’t agree on whether we want a republic or on who should be president?
What then?
I suspect the bottom line is the security of Meghan; much disliked and the recipient of death threats + over-interest in the children whose faces we never see thus creating a challenge to the paps. This is probably the behind-doors argument Harry makes.
I didn’t know she had received death threats, after the Oprah interview can she be believed
Not much of an argument Boz as the children have never come and the last time Meghan came was for the Queen's funeral.
Why would anywone want to talk to Harrry (or his wife) they would repeat everything for the highest bidder.
I don’t think Megan would come back to this country, she has her dream now, back on tv, much money, a tv celebrity and this time a duchess , why come here
I thought the children came for a jubilee or similar and spent the afternoon the other children and the late Queen, but Meghan bought a photographer which was not permitted.
I don't believe M has the slightest interest in coming. I don't H has much; it is all about trying to use the law to force his father's hand.

I am far from a royalist but l think Harry and his family should be entitled to armed protection in the UK, who funds it is the real question.
I believe he has protection, the drawback for him is, he has to give 10 days notice before he will arrives, which seems to irk him.
The trouble with this pair is that they always want to win. They are determined to be the victims and want to occupy the moral high ground. I sometimes wonder if they want beatification and to witness the Royal Family downcast into oblivion.
The U.S loves winners but the U.K. rather likes Losers. They have blown it here; we don't want them or need them; stay away.
Harry claims protection was reduced to keep them in this country, this is a direct attack at his family . The estrangement plea doesn’t win me over
I don't think, as fifth in line to the throne, he's a minor royal, nor his family, kids are 6th and 7th in line. I think the highest level of protection can be lowered after them, Andrew can take his chances.
The fact that as a country we aren't willing to offer him the same security as his brother is appalling, no matter how he's decided to live his life.
The repercussions, should anything happen to him, if he doesn't have the same protection as his brother and his children don't sit well with me.
Little difference between 7th and 8th in line to the throne, followed by Beatrice and children, Eugenie and children ,

The difference is Harry is the brother of the heir to the throne, that makes him a higher target than others.
He the Kings son and I do think that makes a difference.
He’s a target for any nutcase out there trying to make a name for themself.
I’m not in favour of the family myself but I do see the danger surrounding them.
Fine. He can pay for his own security.

Fine. He can pay for his own security.
But the British police are not for hire, and private security guards are not allowed to be armed on our streets, plus he wants his security to be given the same intelligence about any threats that the police receive. It would set a precedent for anyone who felt important to ask for the same.
If he is in the UK visiting his father or brother, he would automatically get security because they both have it. For example, at the Coronation.
His need for security is assessed on a case by case basis. Seems absolutely fine to me.

As he has decided to leave Royal duties and Royal life, should he not abdicate any right to the throne?
He has stated it is not what he wants and walked away. Why, therefore, would he ever want to be Monarch if the unthinkable happened?

Has he said he doesn't want to be king? I missed that. I think he'd like to he king and abolish the monarchy, I'd support him all the way.
If the unthinkable happened, I’d be surprised if Harry walked away. He’s the product of his genetic heritage, his experiences when growing up with parents who struggled to meet their own emotional needs, much less those if their children.
I’m genuinely puzzled by the lack of human compassion and level of vitriol he and his wife are subjected to. Here on gransnet and I that organ of truth the daily Mail

I too am always puzzled by the vitriol towards a troubled family. I expect it from the DM, but not so from Gransnet.
