Charles & Camilla flew out to Rome on a planned visit so they missed one another by mere hours. Harry obviously didn’t want to spend any time with them. He will have known of their itinerary. There are so few occasions when he does fly over now from Montecito. An opportunity lost, especially with his father’s health I think.

Well, looking up the official statistics, I see that South Africa comes out worst for violent crimes as a whole, followed by Central American countries and the top of South America.

Jamaica is the worst fort for homicide.

Costa Rica came out badly which really surprised me because I felt so safe there and wandered all over the place without a care.

The UK does badly for violent sexual crimes but is relatively safe otherwise.

It’s all online if you want some facts nanna8.

How do you know?

A man we came across last week ( a lecturer) who had lived in Africa,India and South America told us he regarded the UK as by far the most dangerous country of the lot for random attacks and violence. That really shook me, things must have really deteriorated if this is the case. Perhaps Harry has a point.

That is simply untrue.

Could we not just give this topic a rest?

There are plenty of families that have one or more estranged members, so it should hardly come as a surprise that the British Royal Family is one of them.

Certainly certain aspects of this particular estrangement are acted out in the glare of publicity, but not all the particulars are known to the general public.

As to Harry not resembling his father, that may be, but neither does King Charles particularly resemble the late Prince Phillip. Both King Charles and Princess Anne look at lot more like their Stuart ancestors - all you need is to google a portrait of James VI and I's queen to see that resemblance.

And does Harry not himself resemble his Tudor ancestors?

In some pictures, Harry looks the spit of a younger Charles, particularly when both were in uniform with beards. They’ve also got the same close together eyes. And who was it who suggested that flights go two ways and Charles might fly to California? He’s in his 77th year and in poor health, whereas Harry is in his prim, for goodness sake
..

ruthiek Fri 11-Apr-25 14:50:49

Luminance , he was here for a court case he could have flown in a day earlier if he wanted to see his father before he went on a state visit , but no he plays the victim

Yes, he does look like his father.
More than his Grandfather, I think.

Luminance Fri 11-Apr-25 15:00:56

I don't have much interest in their relationship. Not my business to call him into account for his comings and goings. Between a father and son.

Earthmother9 Fri 11-Apr-25 15:38:10

I doubt if Charles wants to see him, when they dish out that kind of pain you really don't want anything to do with them.

Oh leave the poor bugger alone! It is all speculation - like local gossip on a grand scale. There is obviously a bit of a family rift - let us leave them to sort it out in peace.

Harry obviously didn’t want to spend any time with them. - it is obvious only to you. You, nor I nor anyone else have the faintest clue about it, so need to butt out.

Exactly
no one knows what has actually gone on “behind closed doors” .
He was in Ukraine recently visiting the war wounded recovery centre
head a similar Charity with Invictus!
I quite like both Harry and Meghan. If I had been her I would have wanted out too!
Happy to have a Royal Family, I like the tradition, etc, sure there are issues that could be better, but I think that Charles has always tried his best.
We can’t help the family we grew up in, they are all HUMAN BEINGS, but we often ascribe superhuman abilities to those in the Royals.
Would you like to HAVE to dress up and get up every day to attend functions, etc etc
 it is, I’m sure, exhausting!

Suelld. Thanks for your post. The level of dislike and anger directed at H and M is unusysk

Calendargirl Fri 11-Apr-25 15:48:28

If I had been her, I would have wanted out too!

She was keen enough to be ‘in’ when she got engaged, going to ‘hit the ground running’ etc etc.

She was soon running, but not in the way she envisaged originally.

Aveline Fri 11-Apr-25 15:50:01

If they'd kept quiet and a low profile people might feel differently about them.

Anniebach Fri 11-Apr-25 15:56:56

I dislike liars , more so when their lies are aimed at other people

ViceVersa Fri 11-Apr-25 16:08:49

Everybody lies at some point in their lives - those who say they don't are simply lying to themselves.

eazybee Fri 11-Apr-25 16:13:20

There have been some things in my life I have not enjoyed; some that ended without my consent. But once they ended I did not demand special privileges due to my former status, or complain constantly about how beastly everything had been. I accepted it and moved on.
In Harry's case, he is living the very privileged life he chose, on an unearned fortune he inherited, doing very little work (Sentebale? Invictus?) while desperately seeking to embarrass his erstwhile family.
They, by contrast, have emerged seemingly more stable and valued than before.

Sparklefizz Fri 11-Apr-25 16:16:36

Well said eazybee

Aveline Fri 11-Apr-25 16:48:26

I agree

Allira Fri 11-Apr-25 17:20:43

Hear hear.

Exactly eazybee

Yes eazybee

I don't think any of us have any idea what Harry's contact with his father is, and what any of them are thinking or saying or doing. It's all speculation, assumption and curiosity. I hope they all end up reconciled, but am not expecting to be privy to any of it!

Actually I think Harry inherited many of the male Spencer genes with a bit of Prince Phillip - as a mash up between Prince Phillip and the current Earl Spencer (Diana's brother)

This.

I've no idea if they saw each other, phoned each other, invited each other for tea. I doubt either will add me to a chat app to tell me.
