She’s just good for him,” says one friend now, repeating the refrain of many. “She brightens his life, doesn’t she?

“They make each other laugh. And thank God for that – they’ve needed it recently.”

Congratulations to them both today!
The pic was taken yesterday, in Rome.

the late Duke of Kent being rumoured as being bisexual!

Noel Coward allegedly wrote, Mad About the Boy about the Duke of Kent. It was always sung by a woman so nobody was any the wiser - apart from those in the know! 😉

Wow! Couldn’t GN’s have had a whale of a time if only there had been social media for the general public back then.

I thought it was a lovely touch that Camilla wore her wedding outfit yesterday, and looked great in it.

Jaberwok Thu 10-Apr-25 18:00:24

They certainly would Mollygo!! Not only Camilla who is an unsuitable Queen, but Catherine will be too. Dear oh dear! Such condemnation!..The Queen was the one and only??!! people said that about the first Queen Elizabeth and again about Queen Victoria!!!!!

The press and social media need a goody and a baddy no matter if not true

Anybody want to guess how long the monarchy will last?

Anybody want to guess how long the monarchy will last?

Longer than you or me, I guess.

From the Telegraph:

“ Just 24 hours before his arrival in Italy he was in hospital for his regular cancer treatment – no fuss, just part of his diary nowadays.

By Monday night, he and the Queen stepped onto a British government plane and flew to Rome, touching down flanked by two F-35 jets.

The King has at times looked tired and red-eyed. But no-one has doubted his enthusiasm.

From the mosaics of Ravenna to the bio-circular economy, he has been keenly interested from dawn until dusk.

It was in Parliament on Wednesday that the King truly made his mark.

A speech, worked on between the palace and the embassy as per usual protocol, saw him raise topics and drop names close to the hearts of Italians, winning rounds of applause for well-chosen mentions of “heroine of the resistance” Paola Del Din and “legendary anti-mafia prosecutor” Giovanni Falcone.

The jokes – about Garibaldi biscuits and “what the Romans ever did for us” – landed.

The King has been brushing up on his Italian accent, and delivered an unexpected number of lines in the language of his hosts – even more, locals noted with satisfaction, than he had managed in German or French during recent visits.

One member of the public, Giorgia Lucenti, who was among the crowd in Ravenna, said: “We thought it was wonderful that King Charles spoke in Italian in the Parliament yesterday. It showed enormous respect.”

More than 50 local news outlets covered it – an essential measure of how an overseas tour has gone down – with 180 pieces on TV and radio, and stations reporting an uplift in audience figures when the King and Queen appeared on screen.”

Apparently, she has worn it before.

And, of course, unlike most of us, she will have access to the best seamstress/dressmaker to do any ‘tweaks’ necessary.

And why not? Go for it, Camilla!

They certainly had a warm welcome

He started it and, as an older man, should have had the maturity to tell his mother, the Queen, that Diana was not the right woman for him to marry. But they thought they could get away with it. For some people marriage vows don't count for much when selfish desires come into play.

Diana's affairs were mainly with single, unmarried men, no children. Have you heard the phrase "revenge shag".?

No I hadn’t, but you’re obviously familiar with things like that.
I’m surprised you apply them to Diana. I didn’t like her, but I wouldn’t talk about her in such terms.

Never heard that phrase, didn’t think it of Diana,

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 11-Apr-25 10:33:20

I remember this black ‘revenge dress’ Diana wore. Stunning!
Does that count? 😁

Anniebach Fri 11-Apr-25 10:47:14

Seems she was really into revenge, and she spoke of her love for the men

Never heard of it but it's obviously in your vocabulary.

Diana was beautiful and looks stunning in that dress, FGT2 but, if you are not in love with someone, nothing will change that.

With Prince Harry in the courts, no one seems to be remembering King Charles previous marriage, and the desperate and unhappiness, - and death - that preceded it - and continues still

The current Queeen didn't want to marry the King as a young woman, but didn't discontinue their affair when he made a dynastic marriage and continued her affair with him after he married.

Now they have had 20 years of happiness together in old age, bully for them. Pity about his first wife and the effects his behaviour in that marriage has had on both his sons.

Anniebach Fri 11-Apr-25 11:20:53

MOnica some do not have selective memories of the first marriages as do you.

Ever wonder if the sons had problems with their mother’s many affairs ?

Well said MOnica.
People have selective memories and if you're not a sheep and follow the flock some don't like it !

The sons had problems with their father and Camilla, it was all over social media .

Allira Fri 11-Apr-25 11:36:05

Not sure what you mean by that although it sounds rude, but some of us are able to think for ourselves and do have good memories too.

No problem with Tiggy ? remembering Diana saying the other
woman wasn’t Camilla but Tiggy Legge Bourke and publicly
sympathised with Tiggy over an alleged abortion.

Surely it’s sheep who follow social media

TrueAllira - Charles had well and truly ‘moved on’ by then.

It was a dress that shouted ‘look what you’re missing’ but it fell on deaf ears. Mind you perhaps by then Diana had had enough of their ‘3s a crowd’ marriage anyway.
