There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

I don't tuck in bedclothes any more.

What!! Not even the bottom sheet?! This deserves banner headlines as shock of the day. 😲😂

Caleo Thu 17-Apr-25 13:45:46

Not even the layer I lie upon ,which is not exactly a sheet. But I don't seek a disreputable reputation by being more explicit.

Well I thought I was having a boring day, until we went out to a local farm shop and saw these 3 drop dead gorgeous individuals. Not boring at all.

Aldom Thu 17-Apr-25 15:19:27

Caleo, my mind is boggling.
What do you sleep on?????
confused

Allira Thu 17-Apr-25 15:20:35

Be careful of sheets that are not tucked in.
That way lies a trip hazard and possible fractures.

I speak from experience.

Sorted the cat's toy basket.
Explained that I was giving some unloved ones to the poor pussies who didn't have toys of their own.

Shades of my mother here and my toys as a child.

I’ve showered and dressed, eaten brekkie, a mid morning pastry, a light-ish lunch, opened the post, mainly bills btw and flicked round with a fluffy duster.Need a rest now.
Later I need to hide my Easter Eggs from DD’s who will be popping in sometime.I was given 2 from work colleagues and don’t plan to share them.

Allira Thu 17-Apr-25 15:39:42

We went to the supermarket.

It was very busy. I bought DH a surprise Easter egg. He has to pretend not to have seen it (having packed it in the bag).

The washing machine has just beeped to tell me it has finished the overnight wash. I’d better get up to hang the washing out. Then the major decision of the day - stay up, or back to bed with a book and a cuppa?
Will watch the boat race later.

I don’t want to rain on your parade but I used to do my washing overnight too until I came down one morning to a flooded kitchen and a very unhappy washing machine. After that, I always did the drying in the day.
Once, I put a load of washing in the drier and sat with my husband to watch a drama we loved called ‘London’s Burning’. Halfway through, I laughingly told my husband I could smell the smoke that I could see on the tv. To my surprise, he said he could too, and shot into the utility room where there definitely was smoke coming from somewhere! We turned everything off and called the Fire Brigade who came and said the drier was probably faulty.
They said that if we had carried on drying overnight, we probably would not have survived! So, be warned!

bluebird243 Thu 17-Apr-25 15:42:55

Did a wash load this morning, and now it's dry. I ate a sandwich whilst looking on Facebook Marketplace. Popping to the shops now.
Staying around home today, went out in the car yesterday and am getting over it.

Thank you crossstitchfan, and I’m glad your mishaps weren’t serious.

My washing machine has a facility that allows me to set it to start at a particular time, so the wash started at 6 am, done by 7. I was awake, just not up!

If mine had been blessed with that facility, I wouldn’t have had a problem!
Do you know, now, at the age of 79, I often wonder how I’ve survived so long when so many domestic appliances were a bit dangerous in years gone by. My grandmother, in the 50s used to air her washing by putting it in the oven on low. She would then invariably fall asleep! How she survived, I’ll never know!
I think the most dangerous thing I have ever done was trying to fish a bit of toast out of the toaster, where it had got firmly stuck. This was when I got married, in the 60s.
I used a knife! The toaster was plugged in, and on. Luckily for me, it started sparking and alerted me and thankfully, I did have the sense to turn it off at that point! Phew!

Someone I knew, years ago was watching TV, when the telephone rang. This was in the days of one landline, in the hall. As she was chatting, my friend thought how beautiful the setting sun looked, reflected on the hall wall opposite the phone. Suddenly she realised it wasn't the sun she was seeing.
The television was on fire!!!
Luckily for her, she lived next door to a fireman and even luckier, he was off duty and dealt with the fire before too much damage was done.

Got up, did a wash, hung it out, went to the allotment, came home, had lunch, fell asleep, got washing in, about to feed the dog, I’ll have an omelette for supper with the first asparagus of the season. 👏👏

I remember watching TV with my mam one evening many years ago and the set suddenly burst into flames. Woken up by all the panicking my dad, who worked shifts, walked calmly into the room, threw a bucket of water over it and went back to bed. Not to be recommended, by the way. smile

Nothing particularly interesting today, which is OK as I like the odd boring day!

Just going to the local shops for a few dull things like fruit and veg then spending the rest of the day reading and kipping!

merlotgran Fri 18-Apr-25 09:51:47

I’m going to DD’s for Easter. She’s only a ten minute drive away so why am I shoving so much stuff in the car?

Wine contribution, gluten free hot cross buns, Easter Eggs, rhubarb from the allotment, Peggy’s stuff etc.
Mustn’t forget the spotty bag with all MY stuff. 😂

Oh dear.

Never thought of that.

Charleygirl5 Fri 18-Apr-25 10:46:47

I never leave appliances on if I am not close by.

I could not sleep, so I decided to do something useful. I filled and ran the dishwasher and started the washing machine, and both were finished by the time I had a rest and a cup of coffee.

It was lovely to come downstairs this morning with the work done. The washing is drying outside.

It is too cold to sit outside and watch the weeds grow.

Caleo Fri 18-Apr-25 11:25:19

Rinsed the tea leaves out of the infuser to be ready for infusing the coffee, however I decided to have two easy peelers first.
