Good morning on a grey, wet Friday. The weather matches the sad day in the church.
I managed a bit of shopping in town but couldn’t find skirts I liked. Are they out of fashion? I’ll have to make my own…
I collected my new glasses; what a difference they make to my distance vision. I hope they wave goodbye to the fairly constant headaches.
I fancied going outside for a bit but the patchy sunshine and constant cold wind prevented that, so I did some patchworking. I’ll have finished my quilt for summer use.
Nothing much happening today apart from the Tenebrae service in the middle of the day.
May you have a peaceful day.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a cloudy and grey midlands. Two days spent backwards and forwards to the hospital while they try and get these headaches sorted. No further forward and have to go back on Wednesday. It’s frustrating.
A day out with DH. Nothing else planned and might try and get a baby quilt finished.
Hugs to all who are suffering. Happy Good Friday. 🤗

Good Friday everyone from a lightening north Wales where I’m still marvelling at my ⚽️ team’s skin of the teeth win last night 👏

Welcome to the recent newbies to this lovely thread 🤗 you’ll soon be old hands at remembering who lives where and what they get up to! And we’ll be interested in your doings as well…😉

A first for me today - a facial at our poshest country hotel spa with DD. Hers is a birthday treat from DGD who offered to pay for mine but I refused to accompany my daughter on those terms! (Secretly, I thought what a generous soul my daughter has raised 🥰)

Good to hear of health issues being resolved Jax - more of that for others please 🙏

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend with as much/little going on as pleases you x

Good morning all. Cloudy and dry this morning in Glasgow followed by rain and high winds again for another chilly day.

Thankfully I haven’t put away winter clothing yet as I needed to wrap up for my hairdressing appointment yesterday . Quite happy to return to a cosy indoors and stay put. A small M&S food shop at some point which no doubt, being a holiday weekend, will be busy.

Enjoy the holiday weekend whatever your plans are.

Good morning from a dull Malta where a high of 19°C is forecast.

Yesterday didn’t turn out quite as expected as I’d forgotten I’d said I would watch the boys for an hour whilst DD3 took the dog to the groomers.

All was fine until I received a call from my hairdresser to say I had an appointment at noon. I’d totally forgotten about it as I usually go on a Friday but with today being Good Friday she’s closed.

I phoned DD3 to see why she was late coming back and she had had a car accident. Someone in a van had sped straight through a stop sign and crashed into her . The car is extensively damaged but, apart from being shaken, DD3 is mercifully not hurt.

It took three hours waiting for the warden and the tow truck so I took the boys with me to the hairdresser and they were pretty good.

I did get home in time to watch Alcaraz win his match so that was good. I also went and cleaned my car again. The dreaded Saharan sand is covering everything and I shall attempt a bit of a clean up today.

Hope they can find a cause for your awful headaches whywhywhy, and hope yours will disappear now you have your new glasses grandMattie.

There will be Good Friday processions this evening so I might go along to our village one. I always find them very moving and like how the old traditions are still adhered to here.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Good morning from Shropshire where rain is forecast all day.

We finally bought bedding plants yesterday so just need a decent day now to get them planted where we want them.

A day at home planned for today.

How awful for your daughter Bellasnana.Thank goodness she is ok although she will be very shaken.I’m sure the hairdresser loved seeing the little boys.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

loopyloo Fri 18-Apr-25 06:28:12

Was the dog ok, Bellasnana?
What a shock!

Bellasnana Fri 18-Apr-25 06:35:11

loopyloo the dog was at the groomer so he was absolutely fine! DD3 was on her way to collect him. He had to wait a while longer until SiL was able to pick him up but he was ok.

Beechnut Fri 18-Apr-25 06:43:02

Happy Easter everyone from Severnside 🐣🐥🐰

Ashcombe Fri 18-Apr-25 06:49:09

Good morning from a wet Torbay where there’s a 100% chance of rain throughout the day!

Yesterday, I went to the hairdresser's for a cut and colour and decided to have my shoulder length hair cut into a bob. My children, to whom I sent the photo, loved it but DH is taking some convincing.

I hope your DD3 is ok after the accident, Bellasnana, which must have shaken her.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Good Friday. ✝️

RosesandLilac Fri 18-Apr-25 06:50:32

Good morning, it’s a dull, damp start here in south Glos, I wish it would rain properly instead of in dribs and drabs, get it over and done with.
Yesterday’s morning dog walk was across wide open spaces and through BlueBelle woods again, my favourite walk at the moment. The fields are full of skylarks nesting so we’re careful to keep the dogs on leads.
Today a really good tidy up before DS and family arrive tomorrow, DH needs to clear the living room table of all his stuff and sort out the spare bedroom that’s his dumping ground 🤬
What a shock for you Bellasnana, I hope your dd is ok.
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

NannyJan53 Fri 18-Apr-25 06:56:22

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, where rained is expected later.

A lovely sunny walk yesterday with my group, then coffee afterwards. Then a drive over to DD's to take the girls Easter money. DGD4 arrived home safe and sound from Canada yesterday evening.

Hope your DD is over the shock now Bellas, even a slight bump is bad enough. Seems everyone is in a great hurry now when driving.

Day at home today, just go with the flow.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

GrannySomerset Fri 18-Apr-25 07:11:33

Oldies coffee morning and Good Friday service will fill today. Grey skies and showers on offer for us so no other plans apart from some preparation for part of the family arriving tomorrow for Easter.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Apr-25 07:11:37

Good morning from a grey S E Essex, wed are off to Centre Parcs this morning, I must remember to put milk, bacon and other fresh breakfast items in the cold box (I forgot last year and had to shop for breakfast items in the onsite store). Breakfast is the only meal we eat in the lodge, the sons have booked restaurants for our evening meals, and lunch is wherever we happen to be…

I hope your headaches can be resolved whywhywhy and that your new glasses see the end of yours grandMattie

Bellasnana what a terrible shock for your DD3

Your new hairdo sounds rather swish Ashcombe

Wishing you a peaceful Easter 🐣🐰🍫🙋‍♀️

kittylester Fri 18-Apr-25 07:12:17

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

A bit of a lazy start before we collect Persie and Wolfie and go to crazy golf - Wolfie's latest craze. We will have lunch at the next door garden centre and then home for a welcome rest. This has been a full on week.

Redcar Fri 18-Apr-25 07:13:46

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright outside and not too cold.
Looked after my DD1’s dog yesterday morning after a quick visit to the garden centre to get some dog biscuits for her and garden vouchers for both DDs for Easter instead of Easter eggs!
Had my hair cut and coloured in the afternoon.
Nothing planned for today, may do a little gardening. The washing machine is busy this morning so there’ll be some ironing later.
bellasnana I hope your DD is okay today, what a shock for her.
marydoll poor babydoll, hopefully she’s on the mend now and will soon be back to being the Duracell bunny.
grandmattie I’m pleased that your new specs have helped with your sight problems, I hope they ease the headaches too.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Fri 18-Apr-25 07:13:50

Good morning from s somerset, grey clouds and a lot of rain all day today

I am not moaning about the forthcoming rain, I want my plants watered and my water butts filled

I need to get a large box of chocolates today, from an artisan chocolate shop. I think I will walk there, covered head to foot with the waterproof mac I bought in Kendal in 1978, I have never had a mac as good as that one

It was a lovely sunny day yesterday and I went cycling and worked my body on the hills. I never know what to wear on iffy days but 2 silk vests as under layers did the job and I was warm enough, once I had warmed up. It is a bit easier to get up the daunting first hill

Later I put a carrot cage together and researched hollyhocks. I do love those cheery hollyhocks, love seeing them on my walks. They like their backs to a wall and feet against hard stuff. I just don`t have the right place for them at home. A pity but then I saw my first old fashioned English bluebell flower at home, I planted them 3 years ago and they are intermingled with lily of the valley in a confined area so the lily of the valley cannot become invasive

I have cream and spare milk so will be making scones today, with cream instead of butter, no rubbing in and am likely to set and light a log fire for a few hours, later when I am cosied with a book

Have a good day

Redcar Fri 18-Apr-25 07:16:17

grannygravy enjoy your weekend in the forest. I’m missing the trees and the deer, but not some of the other wildlife!

cornergran Fri 18-Apr-25 07:19:24

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and windy corner of Somerset

Mr C did an amazing job rescuing the pergola yesterday. Only one scrape to his wrist, a couple of plasters sorted it. My win of the day was to secure an appointment to replace our non working smart meters. It’s only taken a year. I’m unreasonably pleased.

We’ve some computer research to do this morning, nothing else on the agenda, it’s not a day for venturing out, far too wet and dismal.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Fri 18-Apr-25 07:28:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Not sure what we can expect weather wise in South Yorkshire. It’s bucking the forecast already. I spilled a glass of water on my sofa last night as I was leaving the room to go to bed, and was awake into the early hours worrying about not being able to find my front door key. I finally got up and had another look and found it in a bedroom I don’t even remember going into. Worrying. Then this morning I spilled coffee on my oatmeal coloured bedroom carpet🤦‍♀️ and had to do a clean up job. It’s put paid to my plans to go to the gym early - I’m usually there by now! Try again tomorrow. Today I think I need to wind down a bit.
A small shop to do at some stage.
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Fri 18-Apr-25 07:29:18

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry start day to the day
Thank goodness your DD is ok Bellas, that’s the main thing, such a shock though
We’ve DGD here so we’re heading into town later as she’s asked to go shopping. We’ll probably get lunch out and then drop her home this afternoon
If you’re going away or out and about this weekend with friends and family enjoy every minute and safe travels. For those of us having a quieter weekend I hope you find something to enjoy doing at home or in the garden
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Fri 18-Apr-25 07:31:09

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. Bellasnana I hope your dd is ok and doesn't suffer any side effects. Ash I'm sure your hair is lovely. I like a bob. Karma I hadn't realised lily of the valley was invasive until someone gave me some. I keep pulling bits out. Your scone recipe reminds me of mum. She was a fabulous baker and used to make scones with cream.
Yesterday I took the boys to soft play. They had fun but it was heaving! I was glad to get them away. We then went to Tesco and they behaved really well with the added bribery of a magazine and a toy! The afternoon was spent blowing bubbles in the garden, drawing and painting. I was pretty exhausted by night, so I left the house as it was and went to bed. I'm regretting that this morning!
Today I shall be tidying up. I need to see if the pharmacy is open to collect my prescription. I foolishly forgot to do that yesterday. I'm going out with dd and the boys (glutton for punishment) for a coffee but I shall have a quiet day otherwise. Have a good day all.

luluaugust Fri 18-Apr-25 07:34:17

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent.
Bellasnana what a shock for your DD
gM glad the glasses are working, my heavy eyes are better since I got mine.
Yesterday was busy as I got paperwork sorted out at the Building Society. Overdid it a bit in the afternoon at the supermarket. Today lunch at DD2s and get ready for DB arriving.
Best wishes

Good GoodFriday morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Happy memories of making hot X buns when my DC were small.

The gardens are looking so beautiful with the blossom. I visited my friend with more new lambs yesterday.

We had a very interesting talk at U3A by an early researcher on "Who do you think you are?" Lots of amusing behind the scenes stories.

I'll do my shift at the community store this morning, then baking for tomorrow and my df coming for fish
and chips this evening.
I've invited my DS family and dog for Sunday lunch so had better think about that.

What a shock Bellasnanna 😲 I hope your DD is OK.
Have a good weekend everyone.
