Good morning from Malta where it is very overcast at present with isolated showers and a high of 22°C forecast.

Had a very busy morning with the boys yesterday. They don’t always take a nap now so I have to watch them like a hawk as they love getting up to mischief! The hose outside is their latest obsession!😂

Hope everyone had a good day, sorry I didn’t manage to read or post but trust the visit to Sicily was enjoyed by Glamma and BlueSapphire. It’s one of my favourite places and just a short hop from Malta which is why I know it so well.

I’m off to watch the boys as usual but I’ve made a mistake with timing and am going to have to take them with me for my nail appointment later. That should be fun!😂

Have a good day all, thoughts with those of you feel sad, poorly or worried about loved ones.☀️

Good morning from Bristol. Another beautiful warm day on the cards!
I did some shopping yesterday, and we came home earlier than usual, which meant that I could finish the boiled fruitcake I’d started and put some flapjacks in the oven too, for tomorrow.
I did a lot of my quilt assembly; now all the pretty squares have been finished, they need lining and backing, quilting then assembling.
In the mid-evening, DD called, still trying to get me back into EE service; I only get a signal on my Wi-Fi, which is very unsatisfactory as I have paid for it for some years. Nothing we tried, under the tutelage of someone from EE seems to work. All very frustrating.
Today, my pc man is servicing my pc remotely, and I’m having a birthday present manicure.
May today bring nothing but small, pleasures and happiness.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from another prospective glorious 🌞day at PG Towers where the dawn chorus woke me up rather earlier than I’d have wished…😡. Those birdies have a lot to answer for!

I’m fortunate not to need the Merlin App Grandmabatty - I have a resident expert who is only too ready to bore me enlighten me with all things ornithological 🥱😉

What lovely photos you took Ash, looking forward to seeing ones from the Gardens you visited yesterday - I do wish I had leanings towards photography, alas I don’t !

Some shopping 🛒 this morning and this evening…cocktails 🍹🍸nibbles and a natter in the garden with two friends - all this used to be done on the patio at mi Casa in 🇪🇸🥲 and I’m determined to make the most of whatever ☀️ we get here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I’ll pop back later and read of your doings x

Morning Mick, morning All. Warm sunshine forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Still more issues emerged yesterday about our friends care, or rather lack of care. Her daughter is understandably distraught. A wander along the river and some lunch broke up the day nicely. Very relaxing. We’re heading out today, I may be dozier than usual as I’ve been awake since 3. Why? No idea although loud noises from my left may have had something to do with it.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Tue 29-Apr-25 06:18:33

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Going to be another warm one in South Yorkshire. Yesterday I managed to get the front lawn cut and a few small jobs in the back garden before it got really warm; then it was too hot for me outside so I made a batch of chilli and sat inside with a book. I know, a waste, but I was a winter baby and prefer the cold!
Gym this morning and school volunteering this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyIvy Tue 29-Apr-25 06:28:32

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where I’m looking forward to a warm sunny day spending time in the garden.

I went for a another cycle ride yesterday morning with DH around the surrounding villages keeping off the roads as much as possible at a pace that suited us and much more enjoyable. I then took the little one to gym class after school which he enjoyed but to me seemed chaos and disorganised🤷‍♀️

This morning I have a coffee with a neighbour who is going away for a few weeks and I’m looking after her house and garden and then it is school pick up.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and warm all day today

Glorious yesterday and I took full advantage but was worn out by afternoon when I did washing on an impulse and it all quickly dried.

On the plot I changed plan and opted for hard work of clearing, only an 18" strip of hidden bindweed and ivy to clear, under black plastic but there was a large amount, etiolated and weaker in moist soil. Still I had to hack away and dig out but was successful and I have planted a row of comfrey, the sterile well-behaved type, propagated from bits of root from the comfrey at home in my garden. It will flower soon and the bees will be happy all summer long and I will have the best plant food forever

No hard physical work today, I am staying home where I can regulate my sun exposure. The water feature is set up and working, I love the sound of that and will sit out as much as possible, just reading or being still.

Ingredients are arriving for clotted cream ice cream, which I will make this evening to pack into small pots

Have a good day

Good morning from Shropshire where another warm sunny day is forecast.

We are taking DD1 to Chester railway station today. She has a conference in Newcastle this week.We will hopefully have time for coffee and a walk in Chester before collecting the children from school. We will look after them until SIL gets home from work.

I feel for your friends daughter cornergran and you too. When my mum was in the first hospital the care was horrendous, cruel even by some staff. We felt someone needed to be with her everyday.I hope your friend can be moved asap.

I am looking forward to hearing about Ash’s trip to the gardens yesterday. Our holiday there was cancelled in 2020 too and we haven’t got around to booking again yet.

Hope things are improving for Gingster and DH and Marydoll.

Have a good day everyone🌻🦩

GrannyGravy13 Tue 29-Apr-25 06:44:16

Good morning everyone 🙋‍♀️

Off to the airport should be home around 1pm.

Yesterday was rather discombobulating, no electricity and therefore no water, internet and no news as to what was going on in Spain.

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️

Kalu Tue 29-Apr-25 06:44:21

Good morning all. Dry with some cloud in Glasgow. No mention of sunshine but temperatures will reach 20deg.

I had an unexpected lovely afternoon yesterday. As the venue for my X-ray was in TopsyIrene’s area, I was in invited to hers for a coffee catch up. Two coffees and lots of blethering later I headed for my hip X-ray, then home.
A last minute decision will find me doing some light packing today as I have booked a stay at a favourite hotel in Perthshire.
I asked DD1 if she would like to come with me, and her reply was absolutely so we are heading off tomorrow morning, Spa. visits arranged. The weather promises to be glorious sunshine which is a plus.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and hopefully some respite for those having difficult times.

RosesandLilac Tue 29-Apr-25 06:48:40

Good morning, it’s lovely having bright sunshine coming through my bedroom window so early in the day.
I took the dogs out early yesterday, separate walks, and enjoyed wandering along quiet lanes with tiddler.
I took some parcels to the post office before coming back to do the usual housework etc.
The afternoon was spent in the summerhouse, listening to audiobooks and crocheting a blanket for a friend.
I have the hairdresser lunchtime so looking forward to catching up with the lovely lady who does my hair.
I might get fish and chips for dinner, it would save me scrabbling around when I get back.
Enjoy the sunshine if you can 🌹

Grammaretto Tue 29-Apr-25 06:52:43

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another dry day expected.
I have no plans and shall try to get out for a walk. Gaelic class this evening.

Sorry to hear you are losing weight again, Mick are you getting any advice from your medical team?

I like seeing your travel photos.
I hope all the cruisers are enjoying their holidays.

I am impressed by your single handed allotment transformation Karmalady

I am looking forward to hosting another Helper on Friday for a few weeks. I can't tackle the big jobs by myself.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 29-Apr-25 06:53:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and cloudy. Pantglas 😂 Cornergran I'm really sorry to hear about your friend's care or lack of care. I hope it can be sorted.
Yesterday the boys were dropped off at school and I spent a pleasant couple of hours tidying shelves and labelling books in the library. Then the meeting with the lawyer in the afternoon. He has been instructed to do what is called confirmation and is called probate in England. My brother had let the house insurance lapse and I thought had sorted it. However it was clear at the meeting he has no intention of getting it done. 😡 So that will be another job (and cost) to me.
Today I'm like a half shut knife as I slept badly. I'll pick up the boys shortly, feed them breakfast then get them to school. I'm not sure what I'll do today. Probably stick a washing in and get it hung out. I'm making a slow cooker pot of mince and will have some later. Have a good day all

glammagran Tue 29-Apr-25 06:58:15

Good morning from the Spirit of Discovery. We have 2 sea days before arriving for our last stop in Málaga.

It looked like rain yesterday morning in Syracuse. Then very quickly the cloud mostly cleared and it was very warm by lunchtime. We paid a short visit to the Commonwealth war cemetery which is beautifully maintained. DH got off the coach to look around but I stayed on as my hip is very niggly atm. Didn't see Blue anywhere yesterday. It's getting harder to get into my clothes, unsurprisingly.

I'm sure you had a lovely day at Keikenhof yesterday Ash and sorry to hear you are unable to visit Antwerp. I've heard good things about Fred Olsen from other guests on board.

Have a good day in the sun everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Apr-25 07:00:03

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where today it’s going to be 24°C! Lovely. Mind you I’m going to the Trafford Centre late morning with my friend from Chorlton. She jumps on the bus, texts me then I walk down to Sainsbury’s for the same bus. I think I might treat myself to a new pair of Birkenstocks - they’re expensive but my last pair were good for 10 years. I threw them out last summer and I’ve bought 2 pairs of Seasalt wide linen trousers which I think look better with the heft of Birks rather than strappy sandals.

Once home I think I ought to nip into our independent pharmacy below for a covid booster. Himself had his done two weeks ago and I keep putting it off

kittylester Tue 29-Apr-25 07:11:16

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

I have choir this morning and a catchup with friends after. Later this afternoon, I need to do some watering. DH is going to collect the ironing.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Tue 29-Apr-25 07:22:22

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry sunny and mild. Yesterday I went to the RHS gardens at Hyde Hall, about a 15-20 minute drive for me too gingster. The huge pots of tulips were still spectacular but some of them were beginning to look a little sad! Those planted in the cottage garden were still fine. It was very warm there so I didn’t walk far. It was getting busy too, lots of older ladies, and young mums with babies and toddlers all enjoying the sunshine.
I’m looking forward to seeing photos of the Keukenhof gardens ashcombe!
The curtains that I thought weren’t available actually arrived yesterday! I’m hoping one of my DDs will take the old ones down and put the new ones up when they next visit.
I’m planning on a short visit to the local garden centre today to get more weed killer, then on to the farm shop for some local fruit and veg.
grannygravy a strange day for you in Spain yesterday. Have a good journey home.
blue and glammagran I hope you enjoy your days at sea relaxing!
Have the best day possible everyone, I hope all medical appointments go well and that all those with anxieties find some comfort today.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Apr-25 07:27:09

One of my LWW sent this GG13:

“Outages - was off 4hrs came back on for 4 hrs then went off at 9-30 ish and was off all night till 7 ish also no water and no internet at all!”

harrigran Tue 29-Apr-25 07:27:10

Good morning from a dry NE, forecast is good for most of the week.
Yesterday was a pleasant day but wasn't well so never left the house.
This morning my financial advisor is visiting, he drives here from Leeds. SIL says he will come too as a second pair of eyes and ears could be useful.
Have a good day.

brook2704 Tue 29-Apr-25 07:27:12

Good morning everyone from a warm but cloudy Inverness, hoping the sun shows up later
Sorry to hear about the problems with your friends care corner I hope it can be resolved soon
I’ve a busy day ahead with lots to get done but I’m still hoping to get to the gym for a couple of classes. It de-stresses me and I enjoy the exercise and company. When I get home I’ll have to tackle the to do list
Sounds like a lovely trip planned with your DD Kalu enjoy every minute!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 29-Apr-25 07:33:21

Morning all from what looks like another beautiful day. I hope we can all enjoy the sunshine.

I had my long term conditions review yesterday - online. It seems I am classed as obese! I was the same weight last year (an in-person check) and they said not to worry. I probably do need to cut down on the amount I eat and take more exercise.

I am seeing friends this afternoon while OH checks his bees. We will probably attend another car boot sale in a couple of weeks and sell another batch of honey.

Have a good day.

GrannySomerset Tue 29-Apr-25 07:35:20

Plumber should be here some time this morning - third time lucky with this appointment so fingers crossed. Only a leaking mixer tap but needs sorting. Wonderful Cleaner also due so a busy morning. Will make the most of the weather and get the washing in the machine as the free drying is too good to miss.

Marydoll Tue 29-Apr-25 07:46:46

Good morning all from Glasgow, its 6°C, but the sun has just broken through.
I have woken with the most dreadful headache and hayfever, a negative aspect of the better weather.

GMB, what a dreadful worry for you, can your aunt and uncle try to talk some sense into him? I suppose that is a stupid suggestion.

Kalu, I did think of TopsyIrene, when you said you had an xray appointment! Lovely to hear that you enjoyed your catch up.
Enjoy your break with your DD.

I must get a move on. DH has ordered enough stones, compost and bark to do us and the whole street!
He is becoming rather agitated and impatient about me moving my car out of the drive, before the delivery lorry arrives.

I cannot wait for the redesigning of the garden to be finished. I now have seven mini fruit trees in situ in my mini orchard. The blossom on my original mini trees is stunning at the moment. Today I will need to look for a tub for the honeyberryplant, I got for £2, but I have no idea what a honeyberry is!;🤣 It will be placed beside my other fruit bushes, However, I am pushed for space.
I have also noticed some strawberries growing!

Yesterday, I ordered 36 perennial plugs for £7.99, reduced from £72,99. I am trying to emulate a garden I once saw in Pitlochry, it was glorious, with a myriad of colours on display.
The only problem will be to actually get down to plant them and I may never get back up again. DH recently found me crawling along the lawn, trying to find somewhere to pull myself up! 🤣
I always thought my biologics weren't helping much, but now without them, I am struggling to walk, with all over, stiff and painful joints. joints.

I am envious of your cycle ride Grannyivy, I used to love cycling and when I took pupils on residential trips, I would cycle around the Holy Loch on a junior bike, because I was vertically challenged.😉
I was so slow the bus driver on the local bus, used to wave to me, each time he passed!

Have a lovely day and safe journey home GG.

A special mention for all in the sick bay. Life can be so challenging, as we age. 💐

Georgesgran Tue 29-Apr-25 07:52:20

Good Morning from Durham. The weather is improving, but as a cold fish - I’m not casting my clouts just yet. Looking forward to my own holiday and some heat to my bones.
Shed roof man arrived unannounced yesterday and job done by 10.30am. Another tick on my list.
Coffee, extending into lunch with a friend today, then my chiropody appointment and I’ll ask about my poorly foot. It is responding to rest.

Best wishes to all. X
