While out in town today I had a brief sit down along with various other shoppers of all ages and races. An elderly man dropped a coin under the bench and a young African man leapt into action, ,crawling under the seat to retrieve it for him, then smiled broadly at us all and wished everyone a happy day before heading off. It really lifted my spirits.

We went to one of our local shopping malls and a young woman there told us it was 2 for the price of 1 burgers because it is May Day so we got a nice fancy burger each at Betty’s Burgers ( nicer than Maccas).

I look after a man who has a learning disability and today I accompanied him to a hospital appointment. It was quite gratifying this morning when the doctor made a point of telling my chap that he is a very lucky man to have me looking after his interests and that I am obviously a ‘treasure’. Often professionals regard me as a bit of a nuisance as I’m attending as an advocate and their job might be easier without me, but today was refreshingly different.

There was a MASSIVE bumblebee in my B&B room this morning, she was buzzing around looking for food, she landed on the kettle tray so I managed to put a glass over her with a sheet of paper under and gently put her out of the window.

I hope she's well fed and safe wherever she is now.

Planted out the runner bean and the courgettes are showing in the greenhouse. Just pottered around a bit in the sun… smelling the apple blossom and next door’s choysia

Where do I start! Yesterday was spent giving DD moral support as she moved house. Today I woke up in a bedroom in her new home with river views. Once we had installed a shower screen we went into town, walked round the town square with trees growing, the sun shining, we had a leisurely lunch, basking in the sunshine, before returning to a her new home and a sit out, watching the river and greenery while we drank coffee.

It's reasonable weather (high overcast), I will be watching my 1 yr old GS this afternoon while his mum goes to an appointment. I vacuumed the 4 steps down to the back door, so we can practice going up and down. Such fun to see them learning a new skill. We practiced the last two times he was here, so now he thinks it's great fun.

Late autumn our pond was re-lined by my daughter and her son. We have seen very few frogs in it this year - maybe only 3 - and only 2 clumps of tadpoles. These clumps sank. I haven't seen this happen before and read that they might have died.

Joyfully this warm weather seems to have belatedly given them a jog and today I saw at least a dozen smallish tadpoles sunning themselves and bobbing up and down.

Fingers crossed all will be well.
Small things.
Happy days.

Stripped bed and washed my new coverless duvets this morning. They are dry and back on the bed. Love them. Met my friend and we waked along the sea front and stopped for a cuppa or two. Cuddled my cats and sat out in the sunny garden with them. 💖. Purrfect day.

I had the pleasure of leading a teaparty for a lady who has been shut-in caring for her bedridden husband for the last 5+ years. 10 of us from church went and a few took homebaking. We took paper plates and our own travel mugs so as not to cause washing-up. I took my guitar and we all sang worship songs. We basically took the church to her I suppose. It was such a blessing to her and all of us. Her husband slept right through it.

Giving my grand daughter her birthday present meeting friends for lunch
Treating my friends to a cuppa
Colouring my hair myself
Trying out a new lipstick
Having banter with the attractive cafe owner
Supporting my daughter with some difficult issues
So a great day all round

Shopping delivered from Morrisons. The delivery driver was so chatty and friendly and it was really hot, so I offered her a cold drink which she gratefully accepted. We chatted for a while then off she went.

Later, sitting in the garden, in the glorious sunshine with my DH, I said to him that, even if we were millionaires (which we’re clearly not) I wouldn’t want my life to be any differentsmile

I want a piece ginny!!

The sunshine is a joy in itself but I also managed to gift 9 pots and pans to charity. I had help at yarn group altering my sewing pattern. I was too optimistic.🙄

I had a call from my sister who is coming to stay this weekend. I've not seen her since last year.
A good day.

Polly4t42 Wed 30-Apr-25 18:56:32

Having a coffee and chat with a friend this morning. Then after my husband finished for the day as a volunteer lock keeper sitting in the garden with a cup of tea listening to the birds singing.

Watching swallows returning is always such a joy. They swoop and perform amazing acrobatics before heading off to nest, next time I see them they will be massing for their incredible journey back to Africa.
Also bats now giving such delight . Love them.
