When I think he has reached the bottom he always manages to find somewhere lower.

AGAA4 Sun 04-May-25 12:23:17

He is incapable of decency and integrity.

We have a thread specifically running on this already in news and politics

"Trump as Pope"

nanna8 Sun 04-May-25 12:33:43

If this is true and not some sort of press beat up he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.

keepingquiet Sun 04-May-25 12:55:19

He'll keep sinking until he reaches the bottom...

BlueBelle Sun 04-May-25 12:56:11

He has the right name !
He’s a flipping, disrespectful idiot (and flipping is not the word I would normally use )

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 04-May-25 13:00:07

It’s a meme doing the rounds (while there’s no Pope).
“I could be a great Pope”.
I got one the day before yesterday - it was my sister’s dog wearing the mitre and vestments.

eazybee Sun 04-May-25 13:05:02

Not funny.

Jaberwok Sun 04-May-25 13:11:23

Oh dear, That memo sounds quite awful. Hope I don't get sight of it.

eazybee Sun 04-May-25 13:18:39

I know many people profess to be atheist now, but is there no respect for other people's religions?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 04-May-25 13:19:26

Well I’m not religious so it didn’t offend me. Each to their own I can understand that. And for those who might be tempted to say “have respect for the office”…. well Sadiq Khan allowed the orange baby in a nappy balloon over London during Trump’s visit here, remember? 🤷‍♀️

Baggs Sun 04-May-25 13:23:04

When I saw it my immediate thought was that it was about pushing the boundaries of free speech.

I don't actually like it but it doesn't offend me. Some religious ideas do offend me.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 04-May-25 13:23:21

I am a humanist, but I know enough not to make fun of what for many people on this planet is fundamental to their way of life.

Utterly vulgar and showing such ignorance - made 1000 times worse because he is the leader of a country which should know better.

Baggs Sun 04-May-25 13:25:37

Countries don't know anything, ww.

I agree it's vulgar.

Esmay Sun 04-May-25 13:26:45

Hi Countess ,
I'm really glad that you also feel strongly enough to begin a thread on the disgusting behaviour of Trump .
Mine is on News .

Baggs Sun 04-May-25 13:27:06

Why shouldn't one make fun of what may be 'fundamental' to someone's way of life but which one thinks is ridiculous?

Life of Brian, anyone?

You are talking about the president of the USA for goodness sake.

Imagine any other leader in the world who would do such a thing!

Integrity and standards!

Curlywhirly Sun 04-May-25 13:33:41

The man is seriously deranged and he's getting more and more outrageous. Someone close to him needs reign him in, surely his daughter Ivanka must be squirming at his distateful behaviour?

That's funny!
A bit like Larry the Cat was portrayed as the next PM.

Personally I wouldn't choose to see Trump in religious attire. It's not a good look.

Just so.

The outpourings of outrage are really quite amusing, especially as Trump can't do anything without outraging half the world. I think people just like being outraged and expressing it.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 04-May-25 13:41:26

Trump joined in with this viral meme.
He didn’t start it. It’s ’doing the rounds’.
Perhaps he ought not to have considering his position as POTUS. Bad judgement but other than that I’m not offended.

What does offend me are some of the practices enforced by religious groups. Misogyny on steroids.

I won’t go into them on this thread but we all know who they are.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 04-May-25 13:44:02

I agree with you Baggs on this.
‘Trump is BAD … whatever he does’ bandwagon.

And you could see the funny side too escaped of my sister’s dog’s face under the mitre!

Yes, just look what is happening in the USA - certainly misogyny on steroids.
