As low as a snakes belly. Nasty, uncouth, menace.

To those who say it's a joke. Do this. Imagine your loved one has been dead just a few days. Now imagine Trump is their attire doing something they loved. Perhaps holding their grandchildren on Easter. Nothing sinister. But... painful. And WHY? To ridicule? It's esp hurtful because, in spite of his many deluded Christian followers (he is their Golden Calf), Trump personifies the antithesis of Jesus. While Francis did his best, even with the constraints imposed on him, to follow the LIGHT.

I think he has behaved disgracefully, not that this should come as a surprise. However, he really has sunk to a new low with this latest stunt and it must be very distasteful to Catholics. As a practising Christian, although not a Catholic, I also find it detestable behaviour.

Farage is a big supporter of Trump - regularly seen in a MAGA hat and was, according to Farage, ‘promised a job’ for his support - until he fell out with Musk.
Knowing all that - many voted for him in England

He'll keep sinking until he reaches the bottom...

...but then he'll keep digging deeper.

It’s a joke. With all the horrific things happening in the world…..

Why make it worse, then.

Danma Tue 06-May-25 14:43:34

So true

Danma Tue 06-May-25 14:41:36

True

StoneofDestiny Tue 06-May-25 14:24:58

Why can't the whole world not see how dangerous, deluded and totally immoral this man is?

Allira Tue 06-May-25 11:18:29

It is not in the least bit funny.

I doubt that it's a joke, such is his ego.

He is a sad man who lacks ordinary courtesy. Not a woke man in many ways. He'd be more tolerable if he were not so powerful.

It wasn’t ‘satire’ Wyllow it was disrespect showing its face.
(The baby blimp).
And that’s okay.
As this is.

It was satire, whats the difference between these two representations? Both satire, neither "disrespect".

I sort of see the parallels with Charlie Hebdo FriedGreenTomatoes. Charlie's mission is to polarise public opinion and to feed the debate about the freedom of expression.
It's been 10 years now, January 2015, since the attack at Charlie's offices, yet it has risen back again and still going strong. A bit like Monsieur Trump!

This reads rather like victim blaming. As if making cartoons that satirise something religious is deserving of murder. I find that a lot more shocking than anything Trump has done however vulgar and inappropriate for a person in his position.

lafergar Mon 05-May-25 19:06:58

A few silly chaps on TV, a balloon, Charlie Hebdo or the President?

Oh come off it. He is an absolute disgrace.

Why shouldn't one make fun of what may be 'fundamental' to someone's way of life but which one thinks is ridiculous?

Life of Brian, anyone?

You are talking about the president of the USA for goodness sake.

Imagine any other leader in the world who would do such a thing!

Integrity and standards!

Yes, and Monty Python were funny!

I think Trump takes himself very, very seriously.

Well I’m not religious so it didn’t offend me. Each to their own I can understand that. And for those who might be tempted to say “have respect for the office”…. well Sadiq Khan allowed the orange baby in a nappy balloon over London during Trump’s visit here, remember? 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure that trump shows any respect for the office of POTUS! Anyway, how would Sadiq Kahn have stopped the orange baby balloon? Shoot it down?

Go on Witzend, tell it like it is. I confess though, he still has the power to cause me to feel uneasy. He’s got so much power and doesn’t care how much he abuses that, or anyone who has the brass neck to challenge him

Witzend Mon 05-May-25 18:29:54

Is anyone really surprised by this behaviour from a megalomaniac narcissist?

Am I missing something? Does it make it right, sensible or wise for the president of the USA to emulate the actions of a satirical magazine which was attacked for its stance? Do tell, when did two wrongs start making a right?

Thanks Countess Fosco for starting this debate. I’m relieved that the consensus seems to be Trump, as so often, is offending so many people.
I have 5 grandsons and one grandaughter - lucky me. I’m a sad old person these days in that I often reflect on the news in how they might experience it.
I seriously believe they’d all be shocked and see this as something Miss at their various,schools/colleges would be cross about if they were to replicate. One would for sure see it as unkind and the kind of things bullies would do. He’d be right

You’re probably right, I don’t think he takes notice of anything except the noises in his own head.

telling him to grab pussy.

I doubt if the Potus has even heard of the magazine CH, so I don't think he was trying to emulate anything. Just being his usual self!
