Good morning from a clear, dawning Bristol. It’s warming up and that icy wind seems to be dying down.
I had a very tiring day yesterday. It wasn’t that busy, but wearing.
My eye appointment was ok-ish. I had had a blood test to establish why I had recurring attacks of uveitis, which showed elevated levels of an enzyme. This required a chest X-ray to clear all suspicions.
So, on top of barely seeing due to the eye drops, I had to go to the general hospital for an X-ray. I was astonished at the ease of getting one.
It was great to get a bus as I got to the stop. Went home, and went out immediately having picked up the necessary for the Later Life group meeting, re. the fete in July. I have agreed to be in charge of catering. I was wiped out by the time I got home.
Sorted and folded the dry washing, ironed and put everything away.
Today, apart from FAB cafe, I’ve got a Townswomen’s Guild meeting in the afternoon, after which I shall go and keep the DGDs company while their parents got to the Palace for a garden party. Invitation was via the church or diocese.
I hope the improving weather cheers everyone up. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where it’s cloudy but already warm with a high of 29°C forecast.

Had a lovely day with the boys yesterday. Took them to the park where there are a lot of things for them to play on. Took a little picnic for them and we spent a happy few hours there.

After DD3 got home, I went to buy some plants from Eurospin which is similar to Lidl but has a much better selection at lower prices. I haven’t planted them out yet as the sun was too hot when I returned home but I’ll get round to it today.

The boys have to be at nursery early today as they are having a Mother’sDay event so I’ll drop them off and DD3 will go to the event as she is taking a couple of hours off in order to be there.

Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday here in case anyone was wondering!😄

I had better get going. Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning Mick 🌅and all who follow from PG Towers where the dawn chorus has just finished and a dratted magpie is determined to get into one of our occupied bird boxes 😡 all accompanied by the dulcet tones of snoring 😴 (and it’s not me obvs…)

That abscess sounds painful Hollysteers - I remember many from my teenage years - hope you’re feeling better 💐 soon and the same to all not having the best of times health wise x

Mr PGs ear will be inspected again in four months time but the consultant seems happy enough so we were able to enjoy the rest of our day 😊 small wins eh!

Later I will attend my glass fusion class where we learn new techniques each week - I’m the complete beginner (as everyone else has done it all before) which I don’t mind as I get to pick their brains!

Home for a 🍔 before trotting to the next village for the Rotary charity bus trip up to the Quarry for a tour and stunning views across Eryri (Snowdonia) and across lovely Anglesey and the weather is promising for sunset pics.

Have a good day x

Good morning from south Glos, I hope that the bitter wind has dropped too grandMattie.
I tackled the kitchen yesterday and gave it a good sorting out, looking much tidier now, washed the floor etc. I ordered a new mop as mine fell apart and cleaned the inside of the windows.
I need to sort the living room/dining room next, maybe after a trip to the dog field this morning- it’s going to take some doing! It isn’t dirty or even particularly muddled just too many ‘bits’ I think.
Let’s see how that goes!
I bathed tiddler yesterday evening, she’s gleaming white with black patches now, bless her! I wonder what she’ll make of the dog field this morning? Her first time off lead in a large area 😊
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from a fine but chilly Torbay.

Our day out went well yesterday with a bus ride to Paignton from where we caught the steam loco (Braveheart) to Kingswear. We enjoyed sitting in the Observation Car which was only £3 more. Lovely views of the coast, the River Dart and the wild flowers growing on the embankments.

A short ferry journey brought us to Dartmouth, where we ignored the very expensive restaurants overlooking the river in favour of a small licensed café/chip shop called The Wheelhouse, a few blocks away where lunch was half the price!

What an honour for your DD and SiL, grandMattie! My first husband and I attended a garden party there back in 2010 as a result of his university work from which he was due to retire. I remember being surprised by how short our late Queen was.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good Morning from Durham. Have to comment that the cloud formation here is just amazing - ripple after ripple across the sky. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve an empty today and really fancied a long drive somewhere, but with a painful foot, I’m wise to just rest up. I’ll get DD2’s Little Dog later, but that’s about it.
Sorry to read worrying news from SueD and FGT last night. Fingers crossed.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

We have decorators in today. The outside of the house hasn’t been painted for many years since OH did it. It is currently terracotta but we are having something a bit darker. I would have liked green or blue but OH disageeed!

He is seeing his bees today. One of his hives is empty as the bees died. He has brought that hive home to clean thoroughly. Another hive has too many bees so he will split them and transfer half to the empty hive. It all sounds very fiddly.

I might make a batch of chocolate peppermint ice cream. It is my granddaughter’s favourite and she finished it at the weekend.

I do hope Mr FGT2 is feeling better today and can enjoy their holiday.

Have a good day everyone. It’s getting warmer again. The Conclave starts today. I’ll just keep thinking of that film!

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and very cloudy. Bellasnana those are lovely photos. It looks like a good park for children. GrandMattie another busy day ahead for you.
Yesterday the boys were in good spirits and we laughed a lot. My house was chaos by eight o'clock because dgs2 takes my shoes and handbags out and plays shoe shop while dgs1 plays football with a soft ball in the hall. I had a chat with my lovely neighbours who are so kind. I took the boys home after school and sat with dgs2 until Dsil came home. The wee scone cried because he didn't want me to go. I'm his favourite person at the moment. It'll change, but I'm making the most of it.
Today I'm meeting a group of friends for ostensibly morning coffee but will turn into a longer visit. We were colleagues and became friends. I won't see them for a while because of my cataract op on Monday. Fingers crossed that this one isn't cancelled. The rest of the day I'll potter about. Have a good day all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 07-May-25 06:43:06

Oh, I have a WI coffee morning! These are usually a hoot. The age range of participants tends to be from 50s to 99!

cornergran Wed 07-May-25 06:45:46

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright, less chilly corner of Somerset.

Routine chores accomplished we wandered the river after lunch. As usual cows have been turned out in the area on the opposite bank, it’s good to see them return. I grew up on a mixed farm and loved being with the cows as a child. The area is popular for walks, we often go across. It does worry me that a very small minority of dog walkers continue to let their dogs off lead close to the cows. There have been some worrying incidents over the years.

Mr C will be stirring soon as we’re off for breakfast, his favourite meal out, I just wish his favourite location was closer to home. A browse around a garden centre will follow before we travel further to Wells for a wander in the grounds of the Bishops Palace which fortunately is well provided with seats. I’m looking forward to it all.

Have the best day you can everyone.

My post has vanished, drat

Good morning from s somerset, lovely and bright today, cooler

Backache has almost gone, lots of stretches etc yesterday and will continue today via cycling to my allotment. I will only be doing 30 minutes of exercise when there, standing very straight and carefully swinging my chillington digging hoe back and forth between my legs, to scrape the top of the soil. Two hands, not moving hips or legs and being sure to remain even but knees supple and back straight

Glutes and hamstring exercises will be taking place later and also in the future and I need to remind myself to do those. I am expecting a homedics heating/massaging seat to fit onto a chair, found it on ebay. It is all about future prevention for me now, starting with uncrossing my feet when I sit

I cannot see me doing much housework today, just making my bed and giving en suite and cloakroom a quick once over. Keeping the kitchen nice is routine anyway. All my actions are right handed, from vacuuming to mopping to dusting, I need to change that

I think I will be doing some financial adjustments today, now that the dgc are growing up and are proving to be very caring and sensible. I don`t need to be cautious about their inheritance any more so will be upping their percentages, passing more direct to them. No point just thinking about it, I need to get on with it before I go out

Have a good day

kittylester Wed 07-May-25 06:54:58

Good morning all from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

Early start as I have an eye appointment in Leicester where the parking is awful. Hoping to get to M&S to return some trousers that DH misbought.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 07-May-25 06:58:12

Morning, bright in S Hants and 7.
Yesterday I got the last few plants in the garden, visited the farm shop, collected a cardi from a friend who didn’t want it and had a mooch around the village charity shop.
Today I have the dreaded dentist then hygienist, I have lousy teeth and dread going, I’ll think of a treat for being a brave soldier afterwards 😏
Wishing MrFGT a better day and SueD a hug
Spotted this in the village, the latest one always makes me smile.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool, clear South Yorkshire. I slept very well last night. Must have been the soothing effects of spending most of the evening watching Gareth Malone’s ‘Messiah’. Incredible.
I shall strip my bed and do the laundry this morning and then this afternoon, when I usually go to writer’s group, I have a surgery appointment to find out why I can’t hear anything in my left ear. I hope it’s just wax. DH used to say I could hear yaks snoring in Mongolia, my hearing was so acute. Well, no longer it seems.
Have the best day you can folks!

Redcar Wed 07-May-25 07:13:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright and sunny and 7 degrees out.
Yesterday I met a friend at Hyde Hall gardens for coffee and a chat. We both had a browse in the shop after our coffee, but I didn’t buy anything - unusual for me because I usually spend a lot in there!
Nothing much planned for today, the washing machine is churning away so I’ll put the washing out to dry later. The house needs a clean so I may start on that.
I’ll have to water the plants in pots, but the ground is too dry to try to do any weeding.

I hope those with medical appointments today find parking spaces and the appointments go well. Why is parking at hospitals always so difficult?

Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Wed 07-May-25 07:16:11

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
We have hot water and heating, the engineer was here for 5hrs fixing the boiler fair play to him a lot would have told us we need a new boiler it is 17yrs old and most of the the parts inside needed renewing due to water damage. He also told us to keep the fan heater we had used.
Today I'm at playgroup hope it isn't as busy and noisy as last week.
How lovely for your DD and SiL grandMattie a trip to the palace.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Jaxjacky Wed 07-May-25 07:18:23

Try again

Sar53 Wed 07-May-25 07:28:11

Good morning from the Essex coast. The sun is shining at the moment but I don't think it will last and it's quite chilly.
I have an early appointment with the hygienist, not my favourite person, but needs must.
Have a good day everyone, best wishes xx

ginny Wed 07-May-25 07:30:18

Good morning from N. Bucks where it is dry and a little brighter. Don’t know what sort of temperature though. I’m looking forward to the return of the warm weather.

Some small jobs and admin. to do this morning and no other definite plans I may indulge in a day of crafting.

WI meeting this evening and we have a quiz so better find my brain to take with me.

Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

whywhywhy Wed 07-May-25 07:31:56

Good morning from the midlands. Not out of bed yet. Didn’t sleep too good.
Hairdressers today.
I made a baby sweater over the weekend.
Hugs to all suffering.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 07-May-25 07:35:28

Good morning everyone from you know where hehe! We have white cloud here, no sunshine (yet) so our plans to sit and read today in the gardens are scuppered. Never mind, there’s always tomorrow. Locals were saying yesterday how changeable the weather is this year - usually by now the proper summer has hit but golfers out for a 5 day break from Glasgow last week had 3 days of rain - most unexpected!

Liberty Wed 07-May-25 07:56:05

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk but I’m hoping for some sun later. Total mixup last night regarding the film ‘Conclave’ . Although our tickets said 6pm when we arrived to an empty theatre,we were told by a young man who was just opening the door, that there was a mix up on the website and it was dinner at 6pm and the film didn’t start til 7.30pm!

Having eaten already and not wanting to leave the dog for longer than planned,we grumbled a bit,got a credit note and left.

DH found that,as from today,it is available on Amazon Prime so we plan to watch it at home on Saturday evening. Disappointing though as we don’t often go out together in the evenings when we are at home.

I’m off to my keep fit class in just over an hour and then coffee afterwards with 3 friends from the class. One has shares in Adnams so our coffees and usually scones come with a discount if we go to the coffee shop which is part of their wine shop.

Hope today is a good one for all.

brook2704 Wed 07-May-25 07:59:12

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry and bright start to the day
Lovely pictures Bellas
It’s good to be home with no plans to travel anywhere for a little while.
Jax and Sar53 I too have a dental hygienist appointment first thing , it must the day for them! I hope they all go ok.
This afternoon I’m meeting up with a few pals at a local garden centre, I’m sure we’ll all have a good laugh and catch up on everyone’s news
Gorgeous baby sweater whywhy, you made it very quickly!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Wed 07-May-25 08:03:27

Good morning all and yes it’s still chilly here in Essex. Never mind it’s bright and sunny at the moment.

Yesterday was a good day, bannisters fitted by a lovely young man who did an excellent job but he couldn’t fit grab rails in the shower as his meter was showing red (pipes) all over.🙄.

Dd popped in to sit with her dad for a while and I got to my Bridge Club which I thoroughly enjoyed..

Dh was fine and he progresses every day. His old pal is picking him up for breakfast today, so a nice little outing for him.

I’m having a much needed pedicure (think Hobbit) 😬.

I hope himself is feeling brighter today FGT.

Take care all 🪴
