Annoying about the film Liberty.
I’ll take a look at Amazon Prime to watch it. Probably have to pay though! 💷.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

Yesterday, my Tesco delivery arrived rather inconveniently mid-morning so I got off into town for my prescriptions rather late. Although there was a chilly breeze, it was rather sticky in the town centre where it was sheltered. Not complaining, mind!
After lunch, I mowed the lawn which is not growing very fast in this prolonged dry weather, in fact, it's yellowing at the edges now. That was followed by a watering of plants session, the one gardening job I don't like.

Today, some very tedious admin and I await a visit from the plumber, I have a slow leak from a radiator which luckily did not start whilst I was away. Shouldn't be happening, this is a new build so I'm irritated to say the least.
This afternoon, gardening. Suddenly it seems, lots to do!

Do have a good day everyone.

Good morning from N Bucks where it’s sunny but still cool.
Yesterday I saw an excellent (documentary) film with friends called “War Paint” about women war artists - not just Laura Knight but sculptors and photographers and included the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington and the Jewish memorial in Vienna - even the Bayreuth tapestry! I’m ashamed to say I found myself “resting my eyes” occasionally - daytime cinema does that for me. But if it’s in a cinema near you, I do recommend it (and not just for insomnia)
My opera appreciation group AGM and planning meeting this morning then lunch out with our former MP and his wife and some French guests. Hope I am spared speaking French, I haven’t spoken it for 12 years and “rusty” doesn’t come close!
I too am on GC/Buck House Garden Party duty , but next Wednesday, Grandmattie, what would they do without us.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

A late good morning from me, the sun is shining and it is meant to be warmer with no wind.

Off to the gym first thing, no school pick up today. DH is out tonight so I shall have a lazy evening, early pj’s.

Will read your posts over a coffee later 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

We had a lovely day yesterday, first at Lomond Shores and then lunch in Helensburgh.
DH, who says he doesn't need anything and buys nothing, bought fleeces and t shirts etc for the golf. They were at outlet prices, with an additional 20% off. I am a bad influence on him.😉
I treated my self to a waterproof jacket, which I actually needed, it is so hard to get it right, weather wise here, and will take it with me this weekend.

We had a stroll around the Loch, then the most delicious tapas lunch, unfortunately I could only eat a little of it, resulting in Mr MD having a Spanish food fest!

By 2pm, I was badly flagging, so we headed home. We were hardly in, when I noticed a missed call from the surgery on my phone. Apparently my GP would like to take clinical pictures of my neck for the dermatologist.
Unfortunately, the only available appointment available is 9am next Wednesday, the morning of my big birthday. That is an unusual way of celebrating it!
I took the appointment, because I would like to be seen ASAP, the lesion on my neck is incredibly itchy and painful and my imagination is working overtime.

Last night was our meeting to discuss the plans for the church restoration project.
It was rather tense, to say the least. Why are people, who rarely come to church and never volunteer to help, nor support us, the most vocal and negative? All they wanted to do was apportion blame to previous .P.Ps.for the lack of maintenance. 😡
The young curate asked me who certain attendees were, I had never seen them before, neither had the regulars!

Today, I have to go down to church and fish out the pew decorations for the First Communion on Saturday. The only time in over thirty years, I have not been involved is when I was sheilding.
I am in the bad books , because I will be away., so I am trying to make things easy and leave everything ready..
There is a funeral on today, so it will be a long morning!

I wish you all the best day possible and hoping that the poorlies are making progress.
I was so happy to see you out with your walker, Blossoming.💕

Good morning from West Sussex. The sun is shining. The soil needs rain but no sign of it.

I took my neighbour to an eye appointment yesterday, at our nearest hospital and we sat down in the waiting area right next to a friend and former colleague of my DH. They had not seen each other for, probably, about ten years. He is a great talker and raconteur. When the appointments were done he came back with us to our house for a catch up with DH. DH was amazed at the unlikeliness of our being in that clinic at the same time.

Today I am heading for London where DGD1 is getting some work experience with a broadcasting team covering tomorrow’s service at Westminter Abbey. My oldest (ie longest known) friend has kindly agreed to give her a bed for the night so I thought I would go up as well - they haven’t met each other since DGD was a baby. I will have a wander before heading to my friend’s house.

Good news on MrGingster’s progress.

Sorry to hear that MrFGT had a not so good day yesterday. Hope today is better and there is plenty of sunshine in Malaga.

Karmalady, I hope your back continues to improve - you are so disciplined with your exercise and activity.

I’d better go and finish my packing, keeping it minimal as will have to carry my bag around London.

Have the best possible day.

GrannySomerset Wed 07-May-25 08:46:08

These days I can never post without first logging on, often several times a day if I am feeling garrulous. Does anyone know why?

Decorator should finish the kitchen today so that I can wash all the bits currently lurking on the kitchen table and restore order. Plumber came to replace the leaking tap yesterday so I can feel smug and in charge of life - though not for long if I know life, which usually gets in the way.

Hope life in Malaga proves restorative and that everyone gets some sunshine today.

Good morning from a grey NE, must be cool the heating is on.
Yesterday was a full day.
I received a hospital appointment for Saturday but I will be on holiday so had to rearrange it. I was pleased to be able to arrange for it to be in my own town rather than in an area I have no knowledge of.
SIL took me shopping and then in the evening we drove to Durham to attend GD's school concert. It was a wonderful evening GD played the piano with the orchestra then played the violin in the chamber group. In the second half GD sang two songs with her rock band before singing with the choir.
She is so enthusiastic, she is an absolute delight to be around.
Today is going to be a day of sorting clothes and laundry.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from sunny Wiltshire.

Had 2 fairly frantic days of getting everything washed and packed away after our cruise but almost finished. An Ocado shop arrives this morning and to my amazement everything is there including the M&S items on it.

It was great meeting with BlueSapphire on the ship and exchanging stories. Our journey back was completely problem free too.

We had a terrific lightning storm which lasted all night about 2 hours after we left Málaga. Photo is of the radar map with the dots representing all the storms. The other is of the cannon fire as we departed the port in Malta. The sea was quite rough going through the Straits of Gibraltar but the Bay of Biscay was better.

The garden beckons today. Have a good day everyone.

BlueSapphire Wed 07-May-25 09:12:15

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton,.but only 9°C at the moment, so feeling chilly.

Still feeling rather poorly with this cough and cold, so I took things very slowly yesterday. I decided the suitcases were far too heavy to get upstairs so I am unpacking in the hall/dining room. Have emptied one and put everything away or in the washing pile - enough to do one load yesterday, which dried beautifully. I also moved my winter clothes to the spare room wardrobes and replaced with my summer wear.

In the.middle of all that I had the wonderful surprise of a delivery of beautiful flowers from my youngest DSis and her DH, which cheered me up no end. They were for my big birthday which happened on my cruise. I also opened a present of a beautiful glass paperweight from my DB and his wife.

Foolishly I then decided to defrost the kitchen freezer as one of the.drawers was getting difficult to close properly and then found I was too exhausted to refill it - so that is a must-do job this morning. I am not having to cook this week as I have plenty of home-made batch-cooked meals in the freezer. Yesterday was macaroni cheese, today is chilli, tomorrow a Bolognese and Friday a curry.

Spent the afternoon watching tv, having found Monday's big VE London parade on catch-up,.which was most restful.

Must unpack the remaining suitcase today, and probably do another load of washing. And it's bin day, so that's another job to do.....

Wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Went along to music club yesterday but didn’t sing as mouth still swollen (thanks Pantglas) It’s improving though. Comedian there, when I said I’d had a packet of frozen peas on it and had graduated (to a cold flannel) interspersed with “frozen sweetcorn?”😁

Flying DD in Ryadh Saudi Arabia FaceTimed and said women until recently were not allowed in the hotel pool, only the men!
She had to cover up when going out of course.

Thoughts to FGT Karma and her back and lovely pics🌺🎼

Blossoming Wed 07-May-25 09:19:30

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. It feels warmer today, I felt cold all day yesterday despite wearing many layers. Today I’m sat here in a t-shirt.

Glad your boiler is sorted Monk08. I can cope with the heating being off but I hate no hot water!

Hope you both have a better day today FGT2.

I’m glad you had such a good trip out Marydoll, Helensburgh is a lovely place. Every time we drove through I used to think I could live here.

Yesterday’s trip to Morrisons pharmacy went off without a hitch. I was quite proud of myself for managing to negotiate the busy store entrance and security barriers. I didn’t go into the store to browse the special offers as I’m not quite ready for that yet.

A special virtual hug for those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

Wishing you all a happy Wednesday 🌹♥️

My belated birthday gifts of flowers and glass paperweight from my sister and brother.

NannyJan53 Wed 07-May-25 09:24:48

Good morning from a sunny but still slightly chilly Black Country.

Hairdressing appointment this morning and trying a new Hairdresser. Highlights, cut and blow dry. Not been since early December so in desperate need.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Quiet day yesterday apart from dealing with more scammers DH was on the phone most of the day and thoroughly exhausted. We seem to have got everything sorted but have heard other friends have had the same problem this week. Today I hope to get to M&S to buy another bra, at last I have found one that is comfortable I can’t worry if it’s not exactly the right size. I also need my new post cataract glasses adjusted. A DF is 80 tomorrow, I am seeing her Friday so a cake called for
Best wishes

Beechnut Wed 07-May-25 09:40:09

Good morning everyone.

That’s a pretty paperweight BlueSapphire. It looks like a wave to me, so memories for your birthday cruise. 🌊

Ilovedogs22 Wed 07-May-25 09:50:21

Good morning from Northants, or is it?!!!
No hot water again today, thanks to DH fettaling!!
Noisy neighbour strimming, haking, destroying every shrub/plant/creature in his barren desert of a garden.
Hurry up lunchtime please. 😚

Kalu Wed 07-May-25 09:55:27

Good morning all. Oh dear, no sunshine today, chilly wind and dry at least.

My main task today is to continue clearing out the garage and filling some bags for charity. I will have to be ruthless on what to stay and what to go.
Not such good news yesterday when DD1 told me, GD1 has had 3 migraines recently. DH was plagued with them for years and I hope this won’t be the case for GD1, she is only 19.

Have the best day possible all.

GrannyIvy Wed 07-May-25 10:00:50

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it still feels rather chilly.

Yesterday DH and I walked across the local meadows and he is back bowling on the greens now and I pottered and collected the little ones from school.
They were chatty and happy. They are so much easier when they have had a week with mummy and structure, routine and early nights. Life isn’t easy for them but they are very resilient (they have to be).

Today I am meeting a friend I met when I was 18 and there will be lots to chat about, laughter and a lunch together.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

aggie Wed 07-May-25 12:31:14

Good Morning to everyone, sun shining but the icy wind is still here
I’m just back from our Wednesday club where we were entertained by a local ukulele band and singers
I’m now contemplating my summer trousers, all need the waistband taken in and hems turned up , it is tempting to dump them and buy new , but the weather would then take a turn for the worst !
Wishing all a pleasant day

Jaxjacky Wed 07-May-25 12:49:34

Love the paperweight BlueBelle
