Good morning Mick from the chamberpot queen ☕️ and here’s the view we enjoyed last night from Penmaenmawr Quarry of Llandudno and the Great Orme (PG Towers sits majestically in the foreground…🤣)

A quiet day finishing another book is planned and some bolognese to be prepared for tonight’s delight 😋 before sallying forth to the Bingo for another go at filling our Jolly coffers!

I shall have a peek 👃 at your doings later x

Good morning all. The sun is up in Glasgow with a promising pleasant day ahead.

I decided to wash down the window frames behind my bed yesterday carefully balancing a basin of water on one of the cills but the inevitable happened when the basin tipped and soaked the bed! At least it was a warm day, with windows wide open to dry off the mattress! I slept in another bedroom. The window frames are sparkling though.

Washing machine on with the soaked bed linen, soon to be hung out in the sun. Hairdressers this afternoon and a visit to the alterations tailor as I need a few things altered. On return, ready to spend the rest of the afternoon in the garden.

Best wishes to all for a smooth day including those with continued worries and health issues.

Good morning from yet another dry day in Bristol. I’m starting to wish we could have some of the “sweet April showers”.
I’m wiped out after a frantic week. Yesterday was no exception.
After the usual morning prayers, I hosted the FAB cafe. One of the AgeUK hosts has had a bad year with a broken arm, something to her back and now has developed plantar fasciitis, poor thing. Not terribly well attended after last week’s good numbers.
I rushed home, had lunch and put my feet up for a few minutes before going off again to the Townwomen’s guild meeting - a short bit about Parkinson’s, the a slightly longer one from a beekeeper. She was quite amusing but didn’t really go into the actual beekeeping, more her minor adventures.
Anyway, I didn’t stay on after as I wanted 10 minutes to catch my breath before rushing on to DD’s to keep an eye on the girls. Iris was out riding, with her uncle and didn’t come home until we were about to leave for dinner.
A very expensive pizza parlour and happy girls later, we went home. DGD1 went up to do her homework, she has a music exam today, Iris and I watched a bit of tv before she went to bed.
The parents came home after an enjoyable afternoon at the Palace. They both looked very smart, lots of photos for the girls.
I fell into bed, exhausted and unusually had a reasonable night.
Today, I’ve just got tai chi. Phew!
I hope mr. FGT feels better. Yes, sadly cancer is always, always at the back of your mind. MD, try not to do too much, enjoy what you can do. Everyone else have a good day.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a fine, sunny Torbay.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a well prepared talk about China from one of our Toads members. She and her husband had lived there for two years and she kept us entertained for over an hour as she described incidents from their time there.

Not sure what today will bring as DH is still asleep but we might hop on a bus to another coastal town. We are lucky to have a good bus service here with three an hour in each direction and other routes not far away.

Well wishes to those who are struggling with their health and happy days to holidaymakers. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Malta where it is sunny and a high of 26°C is forecast.

The boys were no trouble yesterday and I got them to nursery on time for their Mother’s Day activity.

As I was home a bit earlier, I planted my recently purchased petunias and a couple of others which I don’t know the name of!

My back was breaking by the time I’d finished and I couldn’t help but think of karma and marvel at how she puts in such long hours at the allotment.

No nursery today so will probably take the boys out somewhere.

Have a good day all.☀️

Morning Mick, morning All. A cloudy start to the day, sun forecast later.

Thoroughly enjoyed our wander yesterday, very necessary to settle a more than adequate breakfast. Mr C was very happy.

I seem to be a year older today, another 1948 baby. Mr C was foolish enough to ask what I’d like to do. No thought needed, we’re off to Longleat. Sunday there is a family meal. Couldn’t ask for more.

I’m not surprised you’re tired grandmattie, you’re always so busy you certainly put me to shame. Oh heck kalu, you’re not alone it’s the sort of thing that happens here

Thoughts are with everyone managing challenges. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Good morning from cloudy s somerset, dry again and breezy

GM you are doing too much, time and time again you are exhausted but not listening to what your body is saying. One day you could have a massive health breakdown and quite honestly you need to learn to immediately say no and mean it. The occasional rest day will not compensate for the overdrive you are in day by day

I did a bit on the allotment yesterday, drove there as I wanted to leave my heavy boots in the shed, they are not suitable for me to cycle in. I only did a gentle hour and then a bit more at home.

I have a small veg patch at home. 4 x one m raised beds in a row plus a side patch, hidden from sight. I only grow the things I like now, not needing to feed a family. Yesterday one courgette planted under a cloche, will grow that vertically and be stripping lower leaves, some mini beans and then I admired my very healthy flowering raspberry plants, they are thriving in this their second year.

I am still only seeing one or two bees, very sad at what has happened to the bee population over winter

Today, I have books to read and scones to make. I might get myself out on a short cycle ride to challenge myself up the hill or maybe a circuit walk about town, I do like to see how front gardens are progressing, especially the hollyhocks

Have a good day

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is shining already.

S is back in hospital and will miss one of her GCSE's today. Next week is back to back exams so we are all hoping she will be well enough to attend school.
I'm waiting to hear how she is this morning.
DH and I will go food shopping this morning and then see how the day pans out.
Best wishes to all xx

GrannySomerset Thu 08-May-25 06:56:33

Decorator will finish today which will be a Good Thing as I find having someone else in the house very trying even though he is delightful, meticulous and quiet and has done such a good job. Visit later to former neighbour, now in the nursing home where DH died. Am going with a friend as when I went last week I found myself unable to get out of the car - I really hadn’t processed those sad last days of DH’s life.

So many thoughts today will be on events 80 years ago and on the current breakdown of the consensus which, however imperfect, has kept us safe since. A day of very mixed feelings.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 08-May-25 06:58:25

Good morning everybody from Málaga where mixed weather is still forecast. ‘Only’ 18°C until 4pm, occasional showers then sunny from 5pm and 23°C. Himself is still asleep. We were in bed by 9pm last night.

I hope he feels better today.

We’ve been invited to join neighbours who hail from Bognor Regis at teatime. They play bingo in the Gamonal area at 5pm on Thursdays when out here. All being well 🤞 we will stroll down to join them for something to eat around 7pm.

NannyJan53 Thu 08-May-25 06:58:35

Good morning from a cloudy start to the day in the Black Country.

Enjoyed my hairdresser visit yesterday. My hair was highlighted and looks much brighter. Amazed to learn she lives in Cheshire and travels 2 hours to the Salon on the M6 and 2 hours back! Not a journey I would do any longer for work.

Walk and chat group today. Along canal from a village near here to another village with a pub that does fabulous Cobs!

For what it is worth I agree with Karm gM sometimes we have to learn to say....sorry no, not this time.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Marydoll Thu 08-May-25 06:59:00

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 6°c.
I have a had a very disturbed night and woke up feeling pretty awful.

This morning, Dollie is here for breakfast and the obligatory scotch pancakes. After the school run we will head to Glasgow for my emergency rheumatology appointment. I don't really have any expectations, for I have run out of options, medication wise. My third type of biologics has been stopped, once again I cannot tolerate them.
Back home and the school run again.

Babydoll and her parents return from Disneyland Paris today. We have heard little from them, which is unusual. The other grandparents are picking them up from the airport, thank goodness. It is going to be a long day.

I need to get going, I forgot to make the pancake mixture last night and Dollie will be here soon.
The air is rather frosty, DH has taken offence, because he intended accompanying me, wearing the most bizarre outfit and I made a comment about his choice. It just slipped out before I could stop myself. Oh dear. 😔

I wish you all, a pleasant day, have a rest, GM.🥰
Best wishes to all those in the sick bay. 💐

.

Greyduster Thu 08-May-25 07:05:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. From a rather dull, chilly South Yorkshire. Don’t think rain is forecast though. I spent so me time yesterday hanging CDs in my plum tree in an effort to deter the pigeons. They are steadily stripping the branches again and there is a lot of fruit setting. I’m determined this year I’m going to get some plums!
Walking group this morning and then to DDs for lunch.
A very Happy Birthday to Cornergran - enjoy your day!💐🎂🍷☀️☀️.
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Thu 08-May-25 07:06:42

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

I have a singing lesson today and a Sainsbury's delivery and no doubt other things will occur to fill the gaps.

Many happy returns of the day corner. You don't look a day older.

Have the best day possible everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 08-May-25 07:09:04

grandMattie could you not block yourself a ‘week off’ and enjoy it as a holiday - a complete break and a rest to recharge? In fact do this every few weeks and just not be available for your meetings.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-May-25 07:10:49

Good morning from a sunny S `E Essex it’s 8° rising to 16° so gradually warming up.

The cleaning fairies are here first thing, then as they finish we have our builder and insurance assessor arriving for a meeting. I have everything crossed that we will finally have a start date and a timetable of where and when they will be working in the house and outside 🤞🏻

Then a quick trip to the big Sainsbury’s for all the bits and bins I cannot get locally and back in time for my nail appointment.

The 10yr old is here after school and football for his weekly sleepover at 4.30pm, -Jew what a busy day.

Oh Sar53 I am so sorry to hear that S is back in hospital and missing a GCSE which will give her more stress and worries which of course exasperates her asthma. I will keep everything crossed for her.

I hope himself is feeling better FGT2 and that the sun comes out for you both.

Gingster I hope your dear man continues to improve and that it’s possible for you to get back to your bolt hole by the sea.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

luluaugust Thu 08-May-25 07:15:35

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Art group restarts today so I shall be off to chat and DH can entertain the gardener. Later I think we have to go into town
Happy birthday Cornergran
Best wishes to all

Redcar Thu 08-May-25 07:21:04

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s sunny at the moment. The heating came on so it’s probably fairly chilly out.
I went for my usual walk yesterday, it was quite cold but bright at that time. It clouded over later and still with the cold east wind. I spent a little while fighting to get the 10.5 duvet into a bag. I got it into the bag, started to zip the bag up, then the zip broke! As it’s being stored in a wardrobe I decided it would be ok to leave it unzipped. In the afternoon I vacuumed the whole house.
I have a pile of ironing to do today but first I must water the plants in pots in the garden, plus a few of the garden plants which look a bit sad.
kalu that’s the sort of thing that would happen to me!

sar I’m sorry that S is in hospital again and hope she’ll be home soon and that she stays well enough to do her exams next week. It must be such a worrying time for her and the family, but her health has to come first.

marydoll I hope that your hospital appointment today will bring some relief for you.

fgt I hope that your DH feels better today and that the sun shines for you.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Susan56 Thu 08-May-25 07:22:29

Good morning from Shropshire.

We have had a few days at home resting and recharging. However last night two phone calls put an end to our feeling relaxed.First a call to say mum’s elder sister had died and then a call from the home to say mum wasn’t well.
I had very little sleep as a result so am feeling frazzled. This morning we will go to church to hear DGD read at the VE Day service then we will go to see mum.

My thoughts with all unwell and those worried about loved ones.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Happy birthday cornergran🥳

Happy Birthday cornergran 🥂🎂🎉

Whingey Thu 08-May-25 07:25:50

Morning all. I feel worn out reading how busy you are! Trip to Amsterdam was good but SO much walking! Coming back we saw gate closing and had to run getting on with 2 minutes to spare. Just before landing pilot came out and said landing soon just over the north Atlantic!

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 08-May-25 07:26:49

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Some of you are up very early!

Our decorators will be back this morning to finish off painting the front of the house. I will post a photo when it’s finished.

I’m having my roots done this afternoon - I’m not quite ready to embrace the grey!

I’ve just (from my bed before all the places go!) booked OH and I onto a four week pottery throwing course in June.

I’m thinking of those of you and your family with illnesses and difficulties. H ave a good day.🪻

brook2704 Thu 08-May-25 07:26:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds, hoping for sun later
So sorry to hear about your DGD back in hospital Sar poor girl she’s having such a hard time.
A very Happy Birthday corner enjoy your special day at Longleat! 💐🎂🥂
Easily done Kalu at least you’ve got it all dry 👍
Well we’re off to DD2s this morning, tomorrow is the long awaited moving day so it’s the final packing and sorting day today. She’s fairly well organised but there’s still lots of last minute things to do. She’s quite stressed so I’ll be keeping a low profile and keeping her well supplied with tea and biscuits.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
