Good morning from a clear, dawning Bristol. It is set to Eva bit warmer today, though the early mornings are still in single figures.
I had a quiet day yesterday. The Spanish class went well. Some of our homework was to watch a Storyville programme called “.gaucho, Gaucho” on the gauchos of N. Argentina. It was very interesting, but the gauchos are very different to the ones in the south, in the pampas.
My afternoon was quiet; I continued joining the squares of my quilt and hand sewing the strips of fabric hiding the joins. Getting there.
Today, church coffee and more sewing. I’m going to a R. Strauss concert at the local URC church up the road in the evening.
I hope the FGTS have a safe journey home and their news is good. 🫂
Have a good Saturday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where the high is forecast to be 26°C.

I have a mountain of ironing to tackle, washing to hang out, bed to strip, so had better get out of my pit

Tonight DD3 is taking me to see one of my favourite Italian singers in concert. It’s my Mother’s Day present from her, bless her.

I’m so sorry to hear the concerning news from FGT and add my best wishes for a trouble free trip back home and hopes that the hospital visit on Monday can put their minds at rest.

Hoping you all have a good day.☀️

Good morning from s somerset, sunny, warm and breezy today

No rain is forecast for here and a drought is on the cards. I see the big white water tanks on many plots are half empty and my small water butts are emptier than than. I definitely conserve water but my 600 litres stored in my garden is now only 150 litres.I have planned ahead fortunately and my garden will cope. Upside is that the roses have hundreds of blooms and look beautiful

Yesterday my solitary bee homes arrived and I put them up, about a metre from the ground, s s/e facing. I could put more up but first need to see if these bees come in. I hope so, I provide pollen and water and many plants for the leaf cutter bees

DDs horse has survived, dd is staying close to home today, was meant to be doing a long run from Cardiff but will do a series of short circuits from home instead, each time calling in to check her horse. Not a bad bone in that horses body. She took the iv drip off yesterday and removed the catheter. She also has the most excellent independent vets, two young women. I think she would have been a vet if she could live life again but she has a degree involving horses from agric college and now works in secretive defence.

Today, I am likely to go on a dedicated cycle ride, at 9, not for long as I am still not confident in my muscle ability after winter. I think I will plant out a few tomato plants at home too and I have one more crown prince to put on my plot. I may wander to my plot later, there is always gentle pottering up there, better than housework

Have a good day

Good morning from Shropshire where a hot day is forecast🥵

We have a small amount of rain forecast Sunday and Monday but it won’t make much difference. One of our water butts is full but the other nearly empty.SIL is a farmer and is very concerned about the lack of rain.

The children are still asleep. We will just take the day as it comes until H’s swimming lesson mid afternoon.

Wishing the FGT’s a safe journey home.

Have a good day everyone🌻🦩

Good morning from a sunny hillside in south Glos, no signs of rain here but the garden seems to be doing well.
I have a pile of ironing to do, the house is tidy and my version of spring cleaning for the last week means I feel quite pleased with myself!
I have taken some of my art stuff down to the summerhouse, aka My Shed, and I started a drawing yesterday so I intend to get on with that after our dog walk this morning.
I expect tiddler will join me, she’s like a little shadow bless her, she doesn’t like to miss out on anything!
A food shop delivery this afternoon but nothing else happening.
Have a lovely weekend 🌹

cornergran Sat 10-May-25 06:56:29

Morning Mick, morning All. A warm, sunny day ahead for our corner of Somerset.

Much as I enjoyed the last few days it’s good to be home. Laundry today, not much else. We both need a re-group before travelling along two motorways tomorrow for a family lunch.

Wishing for a trouble free journey home for Mr and Mrs fgt. Pleased the horse is improving karma

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Sat 10-May-25 06:59:15

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

Thank you all for the kind messages yesterday, I had reached a low point, but the only way now is up. I hope! 😉

I'm so excited to be off on my holidays, with my family. We haven't all been away together since before Babydoll was born. My family has organised it as a big birthday surprise to my favourite destination, the East Neuk of Fife. Even better, there is much going on this weekend.

DH is driving 🙀 and we are sharing a car with DD and SIL and will meet DS1, DIL and Dollie in St. Andrews, before going on to our accommodation, late afternoon. Heaven knows what DS2 and Co. are doing, I think they are still in Disneyland Paris mode!!! I am trying not to stress about them. Biting my tongue has been difficult, because it is so painful. 🤣
Dinner will be in a harbourside restaurant, so something to look forward to.
My only worry is my family seeing how unwell I am and not being able to eat much, I have covered up well so far and hate people naking a fuss.

Yesterday, the hew P,P turned up on my doorstep with a card and birthday gift! What a pleasant and unexpected surprise.
He is keen gardener and wandered round my garden, making suggestions, taking photos and asking for cuttings.
Thank goodness DH is deaf, he never heard the PP saying the lawn needed attention. 😱 It is DH's pride and joy and he has spent a fortune on it. 🤣

Yesterday, after much nagging, DH brought my travel bag down from the loft and at last my summer clothes. Better late than ever.
I am so embarrassed by the number of summer dresses I have, a fair number picked up very cheaply in the end of summer sales last year.
I plan to be very ruthless with my cull, in the light of my failing health. Not fair to expect my family to dispose of the contents of my dress shop.
The charity shop will need a special event! 🤣
Because I have lost so much weight ( I was shocked at how much) half my clothes are far too large. 😔

DH has just brought me a cuppa, I'm finding it difficult to get going this morning, but on a positive note, I am in less pain today, thanks to the steroids. They of course, have given me the gift of the steroid headache.
Hair needs washed and packed lunches prepared. I know DD will be down at an ungodly hour, she too is excited!
We don't want to waste time going for lunch, so that we can have more time in St Andrew's.
Needless to say, DH and DS will be trawling the golf shops. You can never have too much golf equipment, the equivalent of not having too many shoes! 🤣
Kalu, hopefully I will be treating myself in Pretty Little Things. Are you envious? 😉

Thinking of the FGTs and praying it is just a blip and amazed at the swift response from the Christie. If only every clinician was so proactive.
To those others reading and struggling, but not saying much, I hope you have a bearable day.
So happy to hear of you getting out and about Blossoming.💕

Have a good day, folks.

karmalady Sat 10-May-25 07:04:14

I do hope that Madeleine is ok, I am missing her long chatty posts

Grandmabatty Sat 10-May-25 07:05:14

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. It's set to be mid 20s today. Karma I'm really glad the horse is better. They are lovely animals.
Yesterday I pottered about the house and the garden. I watered the pots and did a little weeding. In the afternoon I finished a library book and began another. A quiet day.
Today I have stripped the bed and the whites are in the washing machine already. I'm going to Stirling to meet my son for coffee/breakfast which will be lovely. The rest of the day will be housework and then out in the garden. The last time I remember such a dry, sunny spell was during lockdown.
I have no idea what I'll have for dinner. It'll be something out of the freezer probably. Have a good day all.

kittylester Sat 10-May-25 07:16:34

Good morning all from a bright and sunny North Leicestershire.

I am feeling much better today than yesterday and my stomach has settled down.

We are going to look for summer trousers for both of us today and also look at chairs for our 'playroom'. Also a present for DGD2 who is 14 next week. Going to be an expensive day.

Gingster Sat 10-May-25 07:16:36

Good morning all and it’s bright but still we have a chill in the air. Yesterday’s breeze was cold.

A good physio session yesterday with two lovely physios. We’re still amazed at the attention Dh has received. He’ll be fitter than before the stroke with all these excercises he’s doing.!
Speech is slowly improving but tiredness affects it.

Today he’ll go to footie with ds1. Last week the team applauded him as he arrived and each one shook his hand. No.1 supporter.

DS2 will be coming in for breakfast as he played golf yesterday with old pals and was out last night with his brother and the rest of the ‘gang’. He will then head home to Hertfordshire and his ‘girls’.

I’m not sure what I’ll do while Dh is out , can’t face going anywhere in the car as traffic is so bad at weekends, so I might pop up to town or I might try for a hair appointment round the corner. They can usually fit me in for a dry trim.

FGT I hope your journey back is problem free and your dh will feel better once he’s home . I’m sure The Christie will have some answers for you.🙏.

Take care all 🪴

Greyduster Sat 10-May-25 07:19:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is up in South Yorkshire and it’s going to be a hot one. Yesterday at the dentist I got away with a scale and polish again. He doesn’t make a lot out of me. DH almost always had to go to the hygienist though he looked after his teeth much better than I do mine! I expect my time will come!
DS is coming down from York to spend the day with me today. I will cook his favourite lunch and then we’ll head out for a walk across the fields and along the river. I usually have a few jobs lined up for him but today he has a free pass!
Thinking of FGT and Himself.
Have the best day you can folks.

Ashcombe Sat 10-May-25 07:25:16

Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay.

Yesterday, DH had a tooth removed and seems to be none the worse for the experience. Whilst he was there, I did a mini-shop in Asda - my first solo grocery shop for several months so that was pleasing. Today we plan to go to the monthly coffee morning at church.

Thinking of the FGT’s and wishing them safe travels and reassuring news from the Christie.
Happy holiday, Marydoll!
Pleased to hear about the horse's progress, karmalady. I, too, miss madaleine.

Have as good a weekend as circumstances allow. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Grandmabatty Sat 10-May-25 07:27:57

Marydoll safe journey and enjoy your holiday with family. I love St Andrews and haven't been there for ages.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 10-May-25 07:34:41

Good morning from a bright and sunny S E Essex it is 12° reaching 20°, other than a quick local shop I have no plans - yippee.

Good news regarding your DD’s horse karmalady we haven’t got any now, but I remember well spending the night in a sick horses stable.

Safe journey and I hope you have a good holiday and birthday Marydoll

Thinking of the FGT’s

Sending (((hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 10-May-25 07:45:55

A quick morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I must get up. I am meeting my daughter in London. She is taking me for a belated birthday lunch and I am taking her to the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery. I am a member at both so can see the current exhibitions for free.

Have a good day. I’m thinking of the FGT2S.

GrannyIvy Sat 10-May-25 07:47:18

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it looks like it will be a lovely sunny warm day.

Nothing much planned just jobs around house and garden getting ready to go away on holiday.

FGT hope all goes well. Thinking of you.
Marydoll Happy Birthday and happy holiday

Hoping everyone has a good day

monk08 Sat 10-May-25 07:49:06

Good morning all from a sunny Black country, towels are in the wash.
A trip to the bank and a wander round still looking for a new cross body bag.
Friends coming later we haven't seen them for a few weeks one of them has been suffering with vertigo.
Marydoll have a good holiday with the family and enjoy your birthday.
Karma good to hear of the horses progress.
Thinking of the FGT's hope your journey home is trouble free.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed, usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later ☀️.

Redcar Sat 10-May-25 07:51:00

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and mild, a slightly warmer day forecast for us, hopefully without the chilly north easterly wind. Yesterday was pleasant out of the wind. It was lunchtime bingo in the village hall, four games of bingo then a good lunch (jacket potatoes, a variety of fillings and salad) all for £12. No luck on the bingo or the raffle but there’s always next time! pantglas you wouldn’t get far on the winnings from our bingo sessions!
Today I must attack the brambles coming in from my neighbour’s garden.
marydoll enjoy your family holiday!
karma I’m pleased that the horse is making progress.
Your DH is certainly seeing the best of NHS support gingster and it’s good that he is improving so much.
I’m missing madeleine too and hope she’s ok.
Safe journey to the fgts tho day and fingers crossed for a good outcome from the hospital on Monday.

Have the best day possible everyone.

BlueSapphire Sat 10-May-25 07:51:43

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, wall to wall sunshine forecast for the next couple of weeks!

Had a bad morning yesterday with very sore and stinging eyes, which I put down to hay fever, so felt rubbish. They were better after lunch, and I felt well enough to cut the front grass which sounds like a stupid thing to do given the sore eyes..... However, had no further trouble, no soreness, no stinging, and then I even tidied the.driveway hedge and trimmed the flowering cherry on the.front lawn - I kept getting tangled in its' weeping branches while cutting the grass!

I am putting the sore eyes down to fairly newish face cream and the new sun block I've recently started using. Shall go back to my old ones today and see if it makes any difference.

Feeling slightly better this morning,.still coughing etc, but not so much, so may venture to M&S Food and Sainsbury's on the bus; I desperately need a few things and may have coffee and a snack lunch out. Feeling a bit of cabin fever anyway.

Keeping my fingers crossed for FGT2 and her man.
Have a lovely trip away, Marydoll.

Wishing all a lovely sunshiny 🌞🌞 weekend.

Marydoll Sat 10-May-25 07:54:05

Thanks folks, my birthday isn't until Wednesday, but I am stretching it out!! 🤣

Jaxjacky Sat 10-May-25 07:55:32

Morning from a very sunny S Hants, I share your drought concerns karma.
Usual Saturday paper, we’re going to set up large tubs in the greenhouse for tomatoes and cucumber and I need another one for the runner beans given to me, I’m running out of space in our small garden.
I’m impressed by both the NHS and how well your husband is doing gingster pleased too you’re getting out a little.
Wishing FGT and himself a good journey home.
Enjoy your day Mick and thank you for this warm start to the day.

GrannySomerset Sat 10-May-25 07:55:40

Am sad this morning as it would have been DH’s birthday and am reminded how much I miss him and the man he was. Will mark the day with a widowed friend by having a meal together and going to a concert, both of which we would once have done as a couple.

Otherwise I need to brave the supermarket as the cupboard is bare and I need some flowers too. Thinking of the FGTs and hoping for a good outcome on Monday.

Liberty Sat 10-May-25 08:01:05

Good morning from a beautiful blue skied sunny Suffolk where more of the same is forecast for the next week at least.

The farmers round here have already started irrigating some of the crops which we don’t remember seeing so early before. Remembering the heatwave of 1976 when we were in London in an upstairs maisonette and eldest child born in early June! Trying to keep her cool was quite a task.

The roads around here will be very busy and the coast too so we shall stay at home and enjoy the garden and summerhouse. I must think of birthday presents for DS,DDiL and DGS2 who all have birthdays in the next 10 days.

I hope those travelling for family get togethers have easy journeys and great times and those unwell or worried have a peaceful day.
