The King’s tie!

Just saw the King’s tie that he wore today and it really made me smile.

It was a blue tie with submarines on . Not dour black ones but childish ones in blue. It was sweet and cute and fun.

It’s so nice to see him happy and cheerful.

That’s it really, nothing important but it cheered me up on a glum day.

Very apt, it is the annual Submariners' Remembrance Days yesterday and today.

How lovely 🙂

Lovely, I'm away, so missed seeing that. Thanks for sharing cheerful news. smile

The Queen looked incredibly elegant. Something in the way she carries herself makes me think of Queen Mary.

I had not spotted that, but like these touches he brings, it shows a sense of humour as well as occasion!
Apparently it was a glorious day yesterday. ☀️☀️☀️

Maybe HRH will wear it when President Trump and his regiment of Secret Service minders descend on him for the State Visit.

When I think back to all the negative comments about Charles, even from his own father, and doubts about his suitability as heir to the throne I think it’s a shame he had to wait so long for his chance to show what a good king he was going to become.

Obviously I didn’t want the Queen to die before her time and abdication was never on the cards so I hope he still has a good few years ahead of him.

Hear, hear!
I find myself growing increasingly fond of him.
Yesterday’s Garden Party was for those in education and skills for young people, a special interest of his.
D and SIL were there because she has been doing voluntary work for the King’s Trust (formerly Prince’s Trust) for some years and is involved in mentoring and its organisation.
A lovely way to thank people.

Maybe 🤔 one of the grandchildren chose it for him? He seems like a nice man.

Cossy Thu 15-May-25 09:54:36

How nice!

How I wish, time and time again, he’d married her first and then the family may have avoided so much angst, then again we wouldn’t have the lovely (now) Prince & Princess of Wales.

Sliding doors eh.

Perhaps when Trump arrives he could have a quirky one with George 111 on grin

Anniebach Thu 15-May-25 10:05:03

I have met him several times over many years, I can believe
he chose the tie, he has a great sense of humour and is such
a caring man

Can someone please post a photo of this tie?
I have looked for it but can't see it...

I too am fond of Charles and I like how he is showing a caring side of the monarchy. The stuffy over formality has gone and I like that.

I also see he wore a tie with little elephants on it when he attended a function for Camilla’s deceased brother’s charity. I wonder why it’s only now that he is letting his humorous side out.

Dare I say because the late Queen put her foot down over any slightest thing she thought undignified?

Anniebach Thu 15-May-25 10:33:33

He always has, the press always wanted to mock him so his humour was ignored

AGAA4 Thu 15-May-25 10:34:33

The late Queen was said to have a good sense of humour so maybe Charles has inherited that from her.

I've just Googled photos of it, it's adorable!
