Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather dull, cool South Yorkshire. The sun will put in an appearance later. Yesterday was blistering. I had plenty to do inside and will carry on with that today after a small food shop. I won’t buy much as I’m running my freezer down, aiming to empty it by the time we go on holiday so that I can buy a new one when we come back. I called into the garden centre yesterday on the way back from the gym and bought a bag of compost. I now have to work out how to get it out of the boot and into the garden without killing myself!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good Morning Saturday 17th May 2025
(38 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but with a grey sky over brackley this morning.
Today, usual bus trip to Bicester do a shop return and have my lunch followed by cycling from Italy on TV.
My health is OK ,
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but the sun is trying to peep through the cloud, so I think it will burn off.
I took things very easy yesterday and enjoyed my shopping trip including a coffee in M&S, where I ran into a couple of friends. I got everything on my list, plus a mini meal for lunch today. I nearly came home with a new top as I spied a lovely animal print one in Next. I don't know how I resisted temptation, but if it's still there next week I may give in....
When I got home I made my turkey keema curry and put it in the slow.cooker, so I just had rice to cook later on. It was a good curry, and I have three portions to put in the freezer today.
A quiet morning at home, the dishwasher to empty, an early lunch, then out to watch rugby this afternoon. It is the last home match of the season, and we are putting out a good team in preparation for the European cup final next weekend. We cannot progress any further in the English Premiership, unfortunately, but our boys will still put heart and soul into today's match. Looking forward to meeting up with DD.and her DH at the game - we sit next to each other.
After the match we (the fans) will be allowed onto the hallowed pitch to take part in the annual presentations and farewells to departing players.
Thinking of those with worries, especially FGT2 and her DH.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and the blue sky is appearing through the mist. Georgesgran enjoy your holiday. Marydoll sounds like a lovely day.
Yesterday I was very lazy and read or watched tv all day. Dd didn't turn up to take me to the doctor's with a letter from the hospital. I didn't remind her as she's done so much for me. I'll leave it til next week.
Today I have the excitement of a Tesco delivery! Otherwise more sitting around and reading etc. I would love to be out in the garden doing stuff but it's much too dusty. I might water some pots though.
I have realised I am not a patient person! Have a good day all
No plans for today apart from a lot of plants to tend. Need to decide where precisely they will go but will wait for my helpful gardener on Monday to deal with the physical business of compost and hauling big pots about. If I try my back will make life intolerable and I have learned the hard way to accept my limitations.
Thinking of FGT and all dealing with worry and struggle.
Good morning from an overcast Worcester where we are off to enjoy a day on the trains. Around 25 of us in the group all saying we are never out at this hour of the morning!
Thinking of all struggling along.
Just checked yesterday’s thread and caught up with FGT’s news and thinking of you both. 💐
I’m still in bed finishing a cup of tea but I must get a move on and get up and shower. Both DDs and one son in law are arriving this morning, he says he’ll be deaf by the time he gets here! Really looking forward to them coming although it’s just for a long weekend. At least the weather looks good.
Taichinan
😂😂😂. That should be whispy cloud, not whisky!!
Taichinan you corrected it before I could go outside with a glass hoping for a cloud burst. 😂
Good morning everyone from Severnside.
Housework this morning and then pottering outside later.
Good wishes to you all 🌼
Good morning everyone from cloudy grey Lancashire, where the sun is trying to sneak out. Still no rain as yet.
Thank you Ashcombe, the problem was made worse by dehydration and diarrhoea which was probably caused by an infection. The hospital treated me with various antibiotics as they weren’t able to isolate the culprit and fortunately it worked. I’m recovering well now, but I still have no memory of the events of the morning when I was rushed to hospital or the first 3 weeks or so after my admission. Your comment added another piece to the jigsaw. We are all urged to cut our salt consumption, but too little is just as dangerous as too much. I hope you are doing well too. My daily breakfast banana helps with the potassium.
Yesterday’s scan appointment went well, MrB drove me to the clinic then I used my walker. The radiologist was a pleasant young Irishman, he said he will be sending a full report to my doctors. He did tell me that he could see no further damage from my recent episode, no treatment required. I should just carry on with drinking lots of water and keeping an eye on BP. Then usual monitoring via annual blood tests. This is a weight off my mind, I have had CKD for years and have tried my best to keep them from deteriorating further. MrB had indeed sneaked into Kennedy’s Chocolate Shop while out on Thursday so I enjoyed a chocolatey treat and a mint tea once we were home. I think he may be a keeper
.
Sounds like your DH is making a good recovery Gingster.
So glad you enjoyed your day yesterday Marydoll, what a lovely family you have.
Hope FGT2 and DH are making progress with the new treatment plan.
I love reading about everyone’s daily lives - gardening , pottering, shopping and traveling. It keeps me from feeling isolated when I can’t get out and do these things myself. I have certainly learned patience over the years! I’m not a patient person by nature but life in the slow lane has its own reward.
As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.
Wishing you all a happy Saturday 🌹♥️
I posted on soops instead of this thread 🤦♀️ oops!
Off to take our 8 yr old GD clothes shopping for her birthday and lunch today. DH has declined the invite to join us.
Will read and catch up later 🙋♀️
I’m all behind like the cows tail ! I wish I’d read this lovely thread sooner , actually I’m a day ahead , thought it was Sunday !
I’ll read properly and catch my breath
Have a pleasant day all
Beechnut 😂😂🌨️🍺
Just back from our tai chi on the beach on what is turning out to be the hottest day of the year for us here. And not a whisky cloud did we see 😂😉
