I miss Bonanza, The Virginian and High Chaparral. My dad was a big western fan and it rubbed off on me I guess.

Channel 4 friday night comedies I used to love...WKRP in Cincinati, Ellen, Two Girls a Guy and a Pizza Place. Friends, Frazier, Surgical Spirit.

Also Dalgliesh(the original), Bouquet of Barbed Wire, The Thorn Birds, Morse, The Sweeney, Within These Walls with Googie Withers.

Some great series long ago, but there are some cracking ones around now.

Any big show from the London palladium and An audience with…..,
Every single good comedy show that you could have a good old belly laugh has now been cancelled and there’s never a really good show to watch anymore on a Saturday night that doesn’t involve wannabe’s ! The TV is so depressing nowadays and sick to death of the stupid warnings after every program!

Roman and Martin’s Laugh In is on Disney+. I’m on Season 2 now. It’s definitely of it’s time, but some of it is still really funny. It’s surprising how many big stars were on it.

I rarely watch itv but caught a bit of its’ late evening news item announcing that there will be cuts to the daytime tv budget to enable more to be spent on “quality drama”.
Hallelujah!
Lorraine, and Loose Women were two shows they mentioned.
It’s all due to falling revenue from advertising, because of competition from streaming services.
Itv are a tad late in recognising this imo but if this means some new evening output then that’s good news.
Lots more comedy and comedy drama series would make a refreshing change from all those cliched, anxiety ridden and increasingly tacky offerings.
