Rowan and Martins laugh in. Lie detector. Did you see your lady friend last night. Beep. What did you do? We had a kiss. Beep. And a cuddle. Beep. And that's all. Beeep

Drop the Dead Donkey was on at the theatre recently with many of the former cast and it was just as good as back in the day.

I loved Green Wing, the whole cast were brilliant …

League of Gentlemen. Not everyone's cup of tea!

I loved it and we still quote it. “You’re my wife now” “this is a local shop, for local people” 😆

I used to like the comedy ketch shows like Monty Python, Not The Nine O'Clock News, The Fast Show, Armstrong and Miller, Mitchell and Webb, Smack the Pony and Little Britain.

The Fast Show was brilliant. My so had a few little parts in that when he was a teen.

I miss Doctors, but im watching all the oldies on U and drama, in the mornings.(think its still 2005/6) at the moment with Christopher Timothy)
A much better series back then.
I find more to watch on You Tube now than what our TV stations have to offer.

I somehow manage to watch some Golden Oldies such as Heartbeat and The Bill - and I can actually understand what the actors are saying!!!! I also enjoy Outnumbered and Michael Crawford's activities - great fun along with 'Allo Allo. And then there's Richard Chamberlain - anything with him in it.......

Grandma70s Thu 22-May-25 11:41:07

Outnumbered was brilliant. I miss good comedy.. there isn’t much, if any, now.

Elusivebutterfly Thu 22-May-25 12:11:55

There's a lot on here I've never heard of or never watched.
I always enjoyed costume dramas and not seen the Onedin Line mentioned here.

Does anybody here remember Compact? I used to love that as a pre-teen. I can't even remember what it was about.

Or The Red Grass - a children's sci fi serial. Also loved, as a child, the serialisation of The Silver Sword.

HelterSkelter1 Thu 22-May-25 17:38:45

Wasn't Compact about a magazine? I loved it as well. I shall have to Google it to remind myself. Also Howards Way. A nice end to a sunday? evening. DH and I caught an episode a couple of years ago at a holiday let. What a treat.

Oregano

Crosstitchfan - I have recently watched some of the old Houseparty programmes on YouTube but they seem so dated and contrived now! You could have a look and see what you think.

Oregano,
I watched a couple of the old ‘Houseparty’ programmes after what you said and you are right! Dated isn’t the word! They were fun to watch years ago, although I can’t understand what I saw in them then, having watched a couple again today.
One programme I loved (and have only just remembered) was ‘The Newcomers’ which was Australian. I adored it and particularly liked the star, Maggie somebody.
They don’t make good programmes like that any more. Funds, I suppose. I daren’t search for it. If I found it, I might be disappointed like I was with ‘Houseparty’ and have decided to remember it as it was!
They just don’t make ‘em like that any more!

I loved both Compact and Howard’s Way! In my opinion, there as been nothing similar since that has been any good! I was besotted with Howard’s Way - the lifestyle, the people, the scenery. Brilliant!

Air crash Investigation .
Can't seem to find national geographic anymore.

My favourite too! National Geographic is on Disney+ but they don’t seem to have the aircrash investigations any more. I watch them on You Tube.

NotSpaghetti Fri 23-May-25 12:10:33

I think the oldies are not so golden anymore.
Times have changed and several just don't seem interesting/funny any more... and so many are casually exist too.

I think it's better to remember the pleasure I once had than try to revisit and be disappointed.

My suggestions were old but not as old as many on this list I think.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 23-May-25 12:49:42

I felt that about Butterflies when I watched an episode a couple of years back. Loved it at the time, but goodness how annoying she was. Almost yelled "just get a job and a cleaner"at the tv. Maybe she had a cleaner anyway.

Kate1949 Fri 23-May-25 13:04:36

So many -
Man About The House with the adorable Richard O'Sullivan. I met him once. He really was adorable.
When the Boat Comes in.
Family at War
Howards Way
Dallas
Just Good Friends
Cheyenne
Sugarfoot
Wagon Train. Was gorgeous Robert Horton in that?
As a child The Woodentops
Many more.

I'd love to know how the surviving members of Mad Men are faring.
