Good morning from an overcast Torbay where we’ve had rain in the night.

Today, I’m venturing out to Lidl to attempt shopping there on my own for the first time in many months. I shall go early before it becomes too busy.

Thinking of the FGT’s.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

grandMattie Wed 21-May-25 05:24:57

Good morning from Bristol. It’s raining!!!☔️ A good, wetting rain. The vegetation will be so happy, and the farmers too I hope.
Yesterday was an empty - ha! I was a whirlwind of activity. It was just that I didn’t go out…
Today, I’ve got my usual Wednesday activities -morning prayers (you will be extra remembered FGT), then FAB cafe. A church women’s meeting in the afternoon.
The quilt is finally, finally finished and looking lovely on my bed; the other one well on its way.
I hope you all get the comfort and support you need. Those able to, do that random kindness!
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Courage, Ash. You can do it.
It’s strange how a setback makes one lose one’s self confidence.

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day is forecast with a high of 27°C.

Took the boys out to the big play park yesterday but hadn’t realised quite how hot it was so a lot.of the slides and play equipment were too hot to go on,

The swings are in a lovely shady spot so they spent a lot of time on them with Nana getting quite the work-out pushing two of them! ‘Faster, Nana, I want go high!’😂

I’d packed them a little picnic so they ate that whilst I had a coffee, it was a lovely day until we got to the car to come home.As I was putting DGS1 into his seat his brother fiddled with something in the back door and it would not shut! I tried everything I could think of but nothing worked.

I enlisted the help of a young mum who was standing near her car and she was so helpful but still couldn’t get the door to close. In the end I asked a man who was with his family if he had any idea what to do and after a lot of fiddling about lo and behold! the door finally shut. He hadn’t a clue what he’d done but whatever it was it worked! This drama lasted quite a while and as the temperature was 30°C, we were all hot and bothered.

I’m off again now, they have nursery this afternoon so that’s the only going out we will be doing today!😂

Wishing you all a good day and hoping Himself is feeling more comfortable now he’s got pain relief. Ash good luck at Lidl.☀️

Good morning. And many thanks to Mick, Grandmattie,Ashcombe and everyone who writes everyday on this thread.
It's so helpful to know there are other people out there tackling their problems with panache and humour and kindness.
Have the best day possible.
It is very much appreciated!

Good morning from s somerset, 5mm of rain last night, enough gentle rain to enable the heavier rain today to soak in

Yesterday, I saw the forecast rain and planted carrots and lettuce leaves at home, erected debris net around to give the salad some light shade. Followed by two hours beavering away outside in the big communal turning space. Got a lot of gunk out of the long storm drain and I did a lot of heavy brushing on the paved area. The magic fairy struck again

My hundreds of rose blooms needed culling so I did them. I made my bread and picked 4lb of gooseberries, topped tailed washed and dried them, they are early this year and there are hundreds more to pick. I have a few standard bushes as I don`t need to bend to pick them. They will be eaten over the whole year.

Only then did my energy fade, so today I will be doing nothing apart from relaxing

Well done Ash, another tenacious person. You have made huge progress

Have a good day

Morning Mick, morning All from a nicely damp corner of Somerset.

A thoroughly enjoyable time putting the world to rights with my friend yesterday. We’ll worth the tedious journey. After this mornings grocery delivery we’ll head out to get two new tyres on the car (ouch!), pick up some bits on the way back and I’m sure stop for coffee at some point. This afternoon I hope to find a compact clematis and buy some compost to be able to instal the new rhododendron in its tub. I’m sure the garden centre cafe will be visited. A hard job but someone has to do it grin.

Hope the shopping is trouble free ash and mr and mrs fgt were both able to sleep.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from another bright day - two more days 🌞 before the deluge…

Amazing news from FGT - that man must be made of tungsten 👏 Hope to hear more good news from the sick bay, small gains from you all 🙏

Nothing planned apart from my glass fusion class this afternoon which I’m enjoying but the end results aren’t always as I expected - quite the appeal, I’m told…🤔

Will pop in and read of all your doings later 👋

Kalu Wed 21-May-25 06:43:26

Good morning all. A cloudy start in Glasgow this morning with sun appearing later on.

Still on the hunt for red geraniums which appear to be scarce this year, I will visit another garden centre later this afternoon when it will be less busy. I gave the garden a good soak last night as we haven’t had rain for a while now.

Good luck on your shopping trip Ash, take it slow and steady, at your own pace.

Best wishes to all for a good/better day

Greyduster Wed 21-May-25 06:51:04

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire🙄. I got very excited yesterday evening when the sky darkened and I thought I felt a spot of rain but alas, no. I do hope we get some at the weekend as promised. I had a telephone call from DS yesterday afternoon, and then one with GS who sits the first of his A level exams today.
Gym this morning, and then writers group at the library this afternoon and a bit of shopping.
Have the best day you can folks.

Georgesgran Wed 21-May-25 06:55:57

Good morning from a fine, sunny Cyprus. More lazing around today. Hopefully MrFGT is home soon.

Best wishes to all, x

Good morning from Shropshire.Another sunny day forecast.

A morning at home then this afternoon we will collect DGD from netball, feed her and then take her to her dance class. We will call at Sainsbury’s on the way home.

I hope the FGT’s have managed some sleep. What a strong man your DH is FGT.

I hope we hear from Marydoll today and things are starting to improve for you.

Have the best day you can everyone🌻🦩

Marydoll Wed 21-May-25 07:06:26

Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow.

Nothing much to report, I am feeling quite unwell again and struggling to do much, which is so frustrating. There is so much to be done in the garden and I am physically unable to tackle it. I did spot the first strawberries yesterday and the apple trees have the tiniest of apples appearing.
It it the uncertainty of it all which drags me down. I can never commit to anything.

Off to the surgery. Apparently the hospital have reviewed the photos of the lesions on my face and a prescription has been issued. I have no idea what the diagnosis is, the stroppy receptionist, who called me was most unhelpful.
All I need is an appointment for the oral surgeon, I am still losing weight and struggling to eat.
On a positive note, so many people have commented on how well I look. One parishioner told me at the weekend, I looked radiant. Oh the irony of it all! 😉 No chance of any sympathy!

Hoping Mr FGT is more comfortable this morning and your Lidl trip is without any issues, Ash.

Have a good day folks.

Sar53 Wed 21-May-25 07:07:05

Good morning from a grey, cloudy Essex coast. I do believe rain is forecast today. Probably when I go for my hair cut late this afternoon.
S was back in A&E on Monday evening but after very little sleep managed to sit her English Lit GCSE yesterday. Poor girl does suffer. She was worried that her writing would be illegible as her hands shake when she takes steroids.
I hope the FGT's have a good day, best wishes to all xx

kittylester Wed 21-May-25 07:08:18

Good Morning all from North Leicestershire where there is a promising dark cloud above us.

Our cleaner is expected at 9 am, DH is going to the gym and I am off to help on a Carer's Course.

Sending love and gentle hugs to all who need one.

Gingster Wed 21-May-25 07:09:48

Good morning all and it’s overcast with rain expected later here in Essex.🤞.

Yesterday Dh had a phone call from the hospital asking how he’s progressing. Two therapists due today, OT this morning and physio this afternoon.

I will pop into town, have a quick coffee with a friend, go to the bank and M and S for tasty bites as our Friday pals are coming here on …..Friday! 😉.

Hope alls going according to plan for the FGT’s and himself will be home soon.

I’m off to pick up and take DGD to school as Dd has a hospital appointment at 8.30.

I hope you all have a gentle day. 🪴🌼

Redcar Wed 21-May-25 07:10:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy out and possibly the slight chance of a shower this afternoon. I hope it doesn’t rain on Chelsea this afternoon as DD2 is visiting the flower show for the first time!
I went to my usual garden centre yesterday, but they didn’t have everything I needed, so I went to a smaller one and found everything there. I bought some dwarf bean plants as I’m not sure if any of the seeds I planted will actually germinate! Visited my dementia friend in the afternoon, she was very quiet.

Today I’ll do the rest of the ironing and have a general clean.

fgt I hope your DH is feeling better and in less pain this morning.
ashcombe good luck with the shopping! It takes a while to regain confidence after a set back doesn’t it, but you’ll get there.

kalu I hope you find some red geraniums soon, such a cheerful flower.
karma your energy puts me to shame, I have to pace myself and rest more these days. The spirit is willing but the body can’t keep up now!

Have the best day possible everyone, with rain if you need it and sunshine too!

RosesandLilac Wed 21-May-25 07:11:46

Good morning m it’s steadily drizzling over this spot on a hillside in south Glos 👏, a very welcome sight.
Tiddler and I did a 3.5 mile walk yesterday that I haven’t done for a while. It was lovely and shady and we met several others doing the same route. One of them explained a new walk for us, I’d seen the beginning of it but I wasn’t sure if it looped round or not, so that’s on the plan for today.
Apart from dog walking I have nothing else planned for todos I will enjoy watching the garden freshen up in the rain, simple things 😊

monk08 Wed 21-May-25 07:18:35

Good morning all from the Black country where we had some rain overnight.
Today I'm at playgroup hoping it's not to busy have woke with a swollen knee out will come the voltarol.
Hope the FGTs managed some sleep last and himself is soon back home.
Noticed no Marydoll yesterday do hope things are ok.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans will catch up with everybody's happenings later ☀️.

ginny Wed 21-May-25 07:29:51

Good morning from a cloudy N. Bucks. No rain yet.
Our musical afternoons did not happen yesterday. The chap who was coming to talk and play was half way here and had a puncture ( his car , not him personally) . By the time it was sorted it was too late to make the rest of the journey. These things happen and we all enjoyed yea, cake and a good matter.
Today I shall be going to take back a jacket which I have decided is too big and too thick . Will have a short browse in a couple of shops and then him to finish off some art work.
Best wishes to all for a good day.

Mollygo Wed 21-May-25 07:31:07

Good morning from sunny Lancashire. The dog woke me at 06.20, so I thought I’d hang the washing out early.
Thought I’d have to take the washing to DD’s because we had a power cut yesterday, but it was restored at 21.58, so we bunged it on and went to bed. Thank heavens for light evenings.

EkwaNimitee Wed 21-May-25 07:35:01

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

I went into town first thing yesterday, just to pick up a prescription but I took the opportunity to round up more birthday cards. Birthdays nearly all come in a bunch in the early summer, I have to keep an eye on my list so as not to muddle people and dates up! I nearly avoided the temptations of M&S' food hall but gave in at the thought of stuffing myself with lovely english asparagus, the season is just too too short! I eyed the hot cross buns and bravely turned away, pleased with myself there!

Out in the garden after lunch for more planting and the inevitable watering. I also had long chats with my sister down south and DS2 in Australia....they're getting rain there, lucky things.

Today, jobs in the morning, I'm not getting on top of them but have better things to do like be outside in the sun. That's planned for later, it will probably involve my handy little mattock hacking into my dry and hardened soil, and more watering....

Have a good day everyone, especially MrFGT who I hope will be home today and feeling comfortable.

harrigran Wed 21-May-25 07:36:44

Good morning from an overcast but dry NE.
Yesterday I finished washing and ironing my holiday clothes after the hairdresser had left and then read my novel.
Awake early today as I have a hospital appointment and SIL is coming to take me. Hoping to manage some shopping as the fridge is completely empty.
Thoughts are with all poorly people.

brook2704 Wed 21-May-25 07:38:02

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve still blue skies with some light wispy clouds, still no rain in the forecast here yet and the garden desperately needs it
You can do it Ash!
Goodness Bellas the things children do! So pleased it was sorted eventually without the need of a garage
Today is a repeat of yesterday, a Zumba class at the gym and then a walk by the river back into town. I’ve a gym friend who walks the same route on a Wednesday so we’ll have a chat as we go along.
Sar53 I hope your DGD does well in her exams, she’s sounds like such a brave girl
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
